The reason given was: Book IV Chapter 12 stats needed.

Kiran is a protagonist in Fire Emblem Heroes. Similar to Mark from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, Kiran is a silent character who is an Avatar, representing the player in-game and is thus responsible for the army's strategy.

From Book I to the start of Book V, Kiran played a passive role as the representation of the player in the Heroes storyline, not directly seen in combat. As of the Book V Version 5.2.0, the Summoner's previously ambiguous appearance can now be customized to a limited extent and they can participate in Mjölnir's Strike only as a combat unit.

Profile

Kiran is mysteriously summoned by Anna. Though surprised by their appearance, Anna asks for their help to protect the Breidablik. Suddenly, they are ambushed by Embla soldiers and Breidablik reacts to Kiran, summoning a hero for help. Impressed that someone has finally been able to use the relic, Anna entrusts them to use its power to protect the kingdom of Askr from the invading Emblian Empire.

It is stated in Book IV that Kiran originates from the "World of Steel", more than likely referring to Earth. Upon describing where they came from, the other characters marvel at the ideas of skyscrapers and cars. Ephraim also mentions that Kiran has, at some point, said that the Breidablik, which looks like a pistol, resembles the weapons of Kiran's world.

Until Book IV, Chapter 2's release, Kiran made no direct appearances in game except during the cutscenes of the game, during Summoner Support events, and as a figure on the tap icon in Tap Battle Casual Mode.

According to Líf in Chapter 12, the Kiran from an alternate universe was killed by Hel, but not before giving their Breidablik to Líf. This second Breidablik is passed on to Alfonse and Kiran after Líf's defeat and death.

With the two Breidabliks, the Order of Heroes attack Hel head-on and are able to kill her, bringing her invasion of Zenith to an end.

Book IV

While the Order of Heroes fell asleep and wake up at Ljósálfheimr where they meet Peony, Kiran has gone missing.

In Book IV Chapter 12-5 a hostile Kiran is among Freyja's forces. Upon their defeat, Alfonse removes the hood revealing another Alfonse. It is this moment that "Alfonse" finally realizes that the reason why he cannot recall any of Alfonse's past life and only has memories of "the World of Steel". The Alfonse present for most of Book IV was actually Kiran who took on his appearance due to the power of the Realm of Dreams. Upon this revelation, Freyja appears, revealing that Alfaðör has removed the real Alfonse from existence due to him defeating Hel, making him too dangerous to live.

Following Kiran's revelation that they were simply masquerading as Alfonse, they stop speaking and return to their silent role, though they continue to resemble Alfonse until finally waking.

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

Beginning with the version 5.2.0 update released during Book V, Kiran is available for use as a playable unit, but only in Mjölnir's Strike mode, and is Level 40 by default. Kiran has a modestly powerful statline of 35 Atk/Spd and 28 Def/Res. While not a dominantly powerful offensive unit nor a particularly bulky unit, Kiran does offer a degree of flexibility depending on the skills given to them..

Their unique Breidablik is a powerful supportive weapon that grants +4 to the four core stats of allies within two spaces of themself while inflicting a -4 penalty onto foes within the same range. While Kiran cannot buff themself, an enemy Kiran can be struck with the penalties. Unique to Kiran is the flexibility to change the Breidablik into seven different versions of the weapon, allowing it to be a Sword, Lance, Axe, or any color tome.

Though Kiran has no skills they can learn due to being Level 40 from the start, they are able to copy any and all skills that have been learned by any unit in the player's roster except for weapons outside of their base kit, skills that are unique to a particular Hero, and skills that cannot be utilized by their current unit type combination. As such, the limits of Kiran's roles are highly flexible and customizable, but also reliant on the player to have a massive collection of skills available. Players should choose a combination of skills that will best suit their needs in Mjölnir's Strike, whether it is making Kiran an offensive powerhouse or a supportive ally.

Kiran is illustrated in the trading card game Fire Emblem Cipher with the following cards:

Etymology

Kiran might be derived from the Sanskrit word "kirana", meaning "dust", "thread", or "sunbeam".

Kiran could also be derived from the Japanese word kirakira, which means "shining" or "sparkling". This may have been inspired by the meaning of Kiran's Japanese name, Eclat, which is French for "[a] brilliant/dazzling display".

In Irish, Kiran (traditionally spelled "Ciaran") is a diminutive of the name "Ciar" meaning "black".

Trivia

  • Kiran's clothes and hood are similar to that of Robin from Fire Emblem Awakening.
  • When Kiran uses the Breidablik for the first time, the hero they summon is fixed. Prior to version 2.5.0, the hero summoned was Virion. After the 2.5.0 update, the starter hero summon was changed to Takumi.
  • Kiran is the only character in the Fire Emblem Cipher trading card game to have a card with no known emblem, gender, or weapon.
  • Kiran's portrait first appears in Chapter III of Book IV (Gullinkambi).
    • Later Kiran appears as an infantry sword unit in Chapter XII of Book IV (Tirandra's Dream).
  • Their sprite shows them with grey eyes, but all of their unhooded art shows them with golden eyes.
  • Larcei's level 40 dialogue greatly implies that Kiran is at least older than her.
