Kotaro Yamada (山田孝太郎) is a freelance illustrator best known for his work illustrating a number of different manga series, including Fire Emblem: Hasha no Tsurugi, The Sacred Blacksmith, and Sword Art Online.

Yamada first became involved in the Fire Emblem series, when in 2002 he teamed up with writer Hiroshi Izawa for the manga series, Fire Emblem: Hasha no Tsurugi, an alternate take on Fire Emblem: Binding Blade, featuring a cast of original characters. The manga proved to be a hit and ran from 2002 to 2005.

Yamada would later return to franchise creating guest art for Fire Emblem Memorial Book Archanea Chronicle, and Fire Emblem: Awakening. In 2016, Yamada was hired as to contribute illustrations to the card game Fire Emblem 0 (Cipher), and the 2017 mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes.
