“I have fought alongside you thus far. Once I came to know you, I knew I wanted to fight for you. Sire. I devote myself to you, for your sake, not mine. I am truly happy that you are my liege.”
—Kris in a base conversation with Marth

Kris is the deuteragonist and a playable character in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem. They are the first true Avatar in the Fire Emblem series, being the first playable character that is customizable by the player and meant to represent the player in game.

Profile[]

Hailing from the small village of Sera, Kris grew up under the care of their grandfather, MacLear, a former knight of Altea. Having trained under him in combat, Kris inherited their grandfather's moral code and work ethic, culminating in a desire to become an Altean Knight as their grandfather wished for them. Further background for Kris is determined by the player where Kris can be:

  • A noble's child who left the castle due to family circumstances.
  • An orphan who was picked up as an infant.
  • From the country.
  • A bishop's child who lost their parents.
  • A peddler's child whose parents later divorced.

While living in Sera, Kris would occasionally be asked by MacLear to deliver wood to a neighboring village, where they met Norne. One day, Norne had gotten lost in a forest and was found and comforted by Kris, but because Kris had also been lost as well, the two had to wait until other adults would find them. Having spoken to Norne about wanting to become an Altean knight, this made her want to be a knight of Altea as well, and if Kris is male, Norne mentions that it was also because she wanted to see him once more.

7th Platoon[]

It would not be until a year after the War of Shadows that Kris would finally enter the Altean castle and become a new recruit. Before entering the castle, Kris bumped into another new recruit, a young girl named Katarina. Easily becoming friends, Katarina and Kris partner up during their first trial, as Katarina admitted that she could not fight and really wanted to be a tactician. Accepting the partnership, Kris goes through the first trial, where they battle against an Altean soldier and even Jagen himself. Afterwards, Kris and Katarina listen to Marth's speech.

They are later assigned into the 7th Platoon with fellow recruits Luke, Roderick, and Ryan. Needing to establish a leader, Luke nominates himself while Katarina nominates Kris. Luke challenges Kris for the position with Katarina accepting the duel for them. With the aid of Ryan, the trio defeats Luke and Roderick, securing Kris as the leader.

Kris and their platoon proceed through numerous tests, facing a multitude of individuals from Marth's fiancée Caeda and either Jeorge or Athena. Depending on the player's performance, Cain can rank them either first or last in the in the interim report for all recruit platoons. By chance, Kris encounters Elice, Marth's elder sister, while lost in the Altean Castle. She reveals that Marth's idealistic desire to save everyone is often at odds with the reality of the world, a sentiment Kris sadly agrees to. Elice pleads for Kris to protect Marth and his ideals should they become a knight.

While on march duty, Kris' poor sense of direction leads their platoon astray. Retracing their steps, Katarina notices a nearby village besieged by bandits. The platoon intervenes, encountering Marth's close friend Merric and assists him in dispatching the bandits. During the fight, Kris notices a strange masked man among the bandits, but was nowhere to be found during and after the battle. Kris can tell this to Katarina, but the matter is ultimately waved off. For their timely intervention, Marth invites both Kris and Katarina to speak with him. Impressed by their selflessness and abilities, Marth personally asks if the two would be interested in joining the Royal Guard, should they pass their recruitment. Kris hesitates, unsure if they are worthy of such praise. Nonetheless, Marth encourages them to think on the matter as his offer will still stand.

Three months pass and the recruits have dwindled to only 20, with the entirety of the 7th Platoon still in training. With the numerous dropouts, the remaining recruits began to merge into other teams. Needing proper armaments and some necessary strength for their team for the upcoming final tests, Katarina secures new weapons and Kris successfully convinces Cecil, who had been abandoned by her previous platoon, to join theirs. The 7th Platoon overcome their test, defeating either Draug or Ogma. With their success on the horizon, Katarina tells Kris that she wants to accept Marth's offer to become Royal Guards and believes that together, the two are an unstoppable team. Depending on the player's choice, they can agree to her sentiment or express that they have not given it much thought since then.

Kris catches Katarina crying by herself one day as the final test nears. Believing that someone had bullied her, Katarina assures them that she no one was bullying her, but promises to tell them why she was crying another time. For their final test, they face either Cain or Est, defeating both. Depending on the performance of the platoon throughout the tests, the 7th Platoon can be deemed an exceptional squad, surpassing some of the notable platoons of the past, or have barely scraped by. That night, unable to sleep, Kris bumps into Katarina. She explains about her past as an orphan while comparing herself to Kris, stating that they both fight for the sake of another. Katarina gifts Kris a headband that Cecil had given her as she wants them to wear it to get them more psyched, which Kris can agree to accept.

The next day, as the 7th Platoon is about to be knighted, a soldier informs them that the castle is under attack by an unknown force. The newly recruited knights rally to Marth as Jagen leaves to deal with the matter. As they contemplate on how to assist in the defense, Katarina reveals to everyone that her real name is Reese and is actually a part of the invading force, having infiltrated the training to assassinate Marth. The revelation horrifies everyone, especially Kris and Cecil. Kris and the remaining 7th Platoon fight their former comrade. After a grueling battle, Reese is heavily injured and forced to retreat.

In the aftermath, both Kris and Cecil are hurt by Reese's betrayal, however Marth believes that her actions during the fight suggest that she was being coerced. Marth once again extends the offer to Kris to become his Royal Guard which they finally accept. Marth implores Kris to help Reese should they ever run into her again. Still reeling from her betrayal, Cecil asks Kris if they are going to keep the headband she gave them. Kris can choose to agree or not. Nonetheless, Kris promises to bring Reese back again so the 7th Platoon can be whole once more.

The War of Heroes[]

Time passes before Emperor Hardin requests Marth lead the Altean army to subjugate a rebellion in Grust, with Marth forced to comply due to their pact. Before heading out, Marth warns Kris that the following battle would be their first real fight and enlightens them on the reality of war. He pleads for them to make it out of the fight alive, which they agree to. The rebellion is suppressed at the cost of the life of General Lorenz, who was desperately protecting the Grustian Prince Jubelo and Princess Yuliya from General Lang. The two watch as Lang takes the royal siblings away from the battlefield. Despite their desire to protect them at Lorenz's dying request, the two bitterly hold back as Jagen stops them, informing them that such actions would result in war with Archanea.

After moving to Macedon next where another rebellion was occurring, Linde meets with Kris and Marth. She immediately hands over the Fire Emblem to Marth and informs them that Princess Nyna had personally sent Linde to deliver the relic, causing intense dread in Marth. After infiltrating the Macedon border and suppressing the rebellion there in an attempt to rescue Princess Minerva, it is discovered that King Michalis had captured his sister. Meanwhile General Lang arrives and orders Marth to retrieve the Grustian royal siblings who had been kidnapped. Kris snaps at Lang for his maltreatment of Marth, causing him to berate them for their "lack of manners." Marth apologizes for their brashness, but firmly states that he would not obey Lang's orders any longer before Jagen frightens the general away.

Believing that Ogma was the likely rescuer, they decide to head to Khadein where Wendell, the pontifex of Khadein, resided and was likely the safest place to take them. Before reaching Khadein, Jagen informs that the group of assassins that attempted to claim Marth's life had been searched and could possibly be found in the mountains of Macedon. There they rescue Wrys from Clarisse, however Reese was not a part of the forces, much to their dismay. Afterwards, Wrys speaks to Kris and mentions their hair growing longer, and offers to shave it, to which they agree or not. Should they get their hair shaved, Marth expresses shock, but lets Kris keep it should they like it. At Khadein, Kris aids Marth in rescuing the two royal heirs. Shortly after the battle, Caeda arrives with dire news that Altea had been attacked by the imperial army, with Gra and Aurelis spearheading the assault. Realizing that the orders by Hardin had left Altea defenseless by taking away its best knights, Marth and his forces head back to Altea to reclaim the castle. After they resolve to try and reclaim their homeland, Kris is approached by Jagen and asked if they wanted to keep their haircut, to which they can agree to or not.

The Altean army begins their assault by taking Obern Keep. Before entering, Kris asks Marth for permission to kill Lang, but Jagen calms the young knight and warns them to be cautious. In private, he personally entrusts them with killing Lang for his insolence. Should Kris follow through on this, they comment that for his oppression of the innocent and insulting their liege, Lang will pay with his life. Wendell speaks to Marth after taking the keep, recommending that he search for the Astral Shards to restore the Starsphere. Marth takes a moment to evaluate the war thus far, commending Kris if a high number or all are still alive or encouraging them to keep the remaining soldiers safe.

Immediately after, the keep is attacked by mercenaries accompanied by a masked fighter who identifies themselves as Legion. Kris recognizes the mask as the same one encountered during the bandit attack during their training days. Legion is killed and the accompanying mercenaries, Radd and Caesar can be recruited.

As they make their way to the Fane of Raman to search for the Starsphere Shards, Kris speaks with Jagen, who asks them how they perceive him, to which they respond that Jagen's loyalty towards Marth was evident, and while he was strict he was very kind, making him happy. When Kris returned the question, he praises that they are a capable Royal Guard, and also adds a trait of Kris that is determined by what the player selected in the beginning:

  • An aura that attracts people.
  • A hidden genius.
  • An indisputably strong heart.
  • A kind heart.
  • Being wise to being almost foresighted.

Once the thieves from the Fane of Raman are driven away, they find the temple ransacked and most of the items stolen, which Jagen commented would infuriate even Naga. He then explains the legend of Naga to Kris, before they try to cross the Chiasmir Bridge. Kris then speaks with Wendell, and catches a slight cold, to which Wendell offers them one of his hats, which Kris can accept or not, but is advised to watch their health. Should Kris wear the hat, Marth comments that it suits them, due to keeping them warm from the strong sea winds.

As they cross the bridge, Hardin himself arrives with his forces to attack Marth. If Kris faces Hardin, they learn that they cannot even scratch him because of a mysterious power he possesses, so they decide that Marth has to escape. Despite Marth wishing to remain behind to help his comrades, Kris assures them that they would remain with the others as the rear guard and regroup with Marth later. Despite his worries, Jagen assures Marth that Kris was more than capable. Before they leave, Kris can return Wendell's hat if they want to should they have accepted it earlier.

As promised, Kris returns and regroups with Marth when they were near Khadein, to which Marth comments on their luck, where it go from such good luck that a sandstorm formed that allowed their escape, to having such poor luck that the earth and sand hindered them and they even got lost, to which Marth comments that Kris might be loved or hated by the goddess of fortune.

As they discuss about the mysterious dark power emanating from Hardin, they learn that Khadein mages were mounting an offense on them, forcing the Altean army to fight back and break into the sanctuary, and be quick about it, as Archanea's pursuit force would be at their rear soon. Once they succeed in breaking in, Kris and Marth talk about Merric, preparing to meet him. Once in the School of Khadein, Marth comments on Kris' magical abilities, where they might be as powerful as Merric and could be a teacher in Khadein, have potential to be a student, or be as bad as Marth.

Facing against Arlen and his mages, they soon manage to succeed in defeating them, with Wendell potentially managing to convince Arlen to stop fighting, Kris informs Marth that they also rescued the clerics that were forced to help the enemy. After the battle and learning the method needed to defeat Hardin, Jagen and Kris speak, where Jagen comments on their armies' progress and how many comrades survived, where they may be impressive, excellent, or unsatisfactory, but Jagen believes that with Marth as their core and Kris as their support, they will not falter, or Jagen will plead Kris to try and protect the remaining survivors as their lives are in their hands. Malice also speaks with Kris, and asks if Marth would pay for her and Dice's services, to which they ask for a small amount, which is high by their standards.

They then learn that Horace was in peril against the assassins, where Kris learns who Horace is, and assists Marth in saving him. After saving Horace and killing the original Legion, they learn that Legion and his clones were raised in such a horrifying way that their souls were crushed and they could only obey orders, leading Marth to question if Katarina lived under such circumstances, which was the first time that she was mentioned since the assassination attempt, and Kris remained silent. Kris then speaks to Jagen, and reveals that they had discovered a mask used in masquerade balls, which they can choose to wear or not. If they choose to wear it, Marth is surpirsed when he notices it.

Now making their way through Anri's Way to meet Gotoh, Marth questions whether they are able to even compare to Anri, to which Kris remarks that Marth was indeed strong, and his kindness was his greatest strength, as it drew others in and made them want to fight for him, comforting Marth. Making it through the Tower of Thebes, they run into Tiki, only to realize that she's actually Xane in disguise, which surprises Kris. Afterwards, Marth asks Kris if they want to keep the mask on should they have worn it, to which they can or not.

Continuing on Anri's Way, they enter the Graveyard of Fire Dragons; Jagen comments on the heat of the lava pools there, and notices Kris, where their Strength might leave them so unfazed that Jagen questions if they are invulnerable, struggling but still strong enough to keep going, or dizzy to the point that Jagen to forced help them through. Before entering the frozen lands, Jagen comments on how often Kris entered the Drill Grounds, where they have entered many times, a few, or none at all.

After they make it through the frozen lands, Jagen informs Kris and Marth that there were people behind them and were likely enemies, but Marth believes there may be some allies, and the possibility of that makes Kris agree to enter a battle to try and defeat any enemies while saving any allies. After being warned by their ally Athena, they are ambushed by Clarisse, but she and her forces are defeated and routed, so Kris and Marth continue onward.

Once they finally complete Anri's Way, meeting Gotoh to receive the Lightsphere, completing the Starsphere once more, and recruiting Tiki, they are all warped back to Altea, where Kris expresses their desire to free it from the enemies, and then run into Xane. Xane tries to play a prank on Kris by trying to convince them to change their hairstyle to be similar to that of Tiki's, along with the tiara, as that will give Kris legendary power, to which they believes, but might still decline the offer to change hairstyle. Xane comments that Kris is either trusting or naïve should they accept, or boring if they decline. Marth expresses some surprise at the hairstyle, but realizes that it was just one of Xane's pranks.

As they battle Archanea's forces, managing to save Est and stop Abel from attacking them, Marth comes to doubt himself because of how many innocents had been hurt, but Kris steps in and reminds Marth of his own words when they were still a new recruit, to which he remembers that he admitted that alone he was a weakling, and thus needed everyone's strength. Kris declares that since hearing those words, they had sworn to become Marth's strengths, wanting to be his sword, and how they would share the burden that Marth carries so he wouldn't be alone, which touches Marth. If Kris wore the tiara and the hairstyle with it, they realize that they don't feel any different, and Marth states that Xane tricked them, and suggests that Kris change the hairstyle back, to which they can agree, or they still believe in Xane and think that the legendary power simply needs to sink in with time.

With Altea liberated and the castle all that remains, Kris is nostalgic with Jagen about their first days in the castle, to which Jagen remarks on their progress and overall power, where Kris could have grown into one of the finest young soldiers in Altea, had gained much experience as a knight, or hasn't grown that much at all. Once entering the castle, they find the castle infested with thieves, and Jagen notes that there's a suspicious thief trying to escape north, and Kris offers to capture them on Marth's order. Once they capture the castle and reclaim the Geosphere, Marth and Kris speak about their memories of the castle, where Marth mentions that this was where they first met Katarina. However, Kris senses enemy presence, to which Jagen arrives and confirms it to be the work of assassins.

The attack is led by none other than Reese. Despite Marth pleading her to stop, Reese declares that she has no choice. As the battle ensues, Reese speaks to Kris, reminiscing about their recruit days. While blissfully happy with these memories, Reese has resolved herself to complete her mission. Kris, still holding onto their lingering bond with her, refuses to attack. Despite her warning that she will kill them if they do not fight back, Kris is successful in getting her to stop and listen to them. Confused by their insistence to not fight her, Reese questions their intentions. Kris declares that she is their precious friend. When questioned if she truly meant that they were an unstoppable team, Reese claims that they were all lies, but Kris points pout that she began to cry as she said so.

Kris makes one final attempt to get through to her, stating that she belong with them and Marth. Assuring that they would help her atone for her sins and remain by her side, Reese finally breaks down and surrenders, unable to continue betraying her friends. In the aftermath of the battle, Reese requests that Marth punish her for her betrayal with her death being considered. Marth refuses Reese's request to die, saying that doing so would be the same as running away from her sins. Marth simply tasks her to find her own method of atonement as only she can make it happen. Touched by Kris' unending support for her, Reese retakes her vows to be like a Royal Guard to Marth and to continue to support Kris. She also decides to go by Katarina once more as she felt the most happy while she was known under that name.

Entering Gra, they battle the forces of Archanea and Gra, though Gra's soldiers had lost their will to fight. Jagen comments on Kris' Defense, where it's either so overwhelming that even Gra in its prime couldn't hope to win, impressive enough that Gra's soldiers cannot match them, or needs more work as even the recruits of Gra should not be underestimated. After defeating Archanea's forces and sparing the soldiers of Gra, thus earning Sheena and Samson's trust, Marth discusses his plans to try and reach Hardin faster, as their battles were only buying him more time. Kris suggests that they avoid the route where Archanea's forces are concentrated in, which would be Adria Pass, and though there's the chance of an ambush, it was the fastest course of action, to which Marth accepts, as they had overcome Anri's Way. Afterwards, Kris runs into Frost, who had wanted to join the Altean army since they rescued Macedon, but because the army moved so fast, he wasn't able to keep up until now, so he joins the army.

Going through Adria Pass, Marth speaks to Kris about the battles they faced and how they surpassed Anri's Way, where Marth expresses joy that everyone survived, some sadness if a few died, or grief if many perished. Having gotten through Adria Pass and acquired the Lifesphere from Hardin's older brother, Marth praises Kris for their actions, but Kris states that they only made a random suggestion, though Marth refutes this and continues to praise them, but then they learn that a coup d'état broke out and was quickly put down in the palace and the prisoners were being quickly executed by the day, making Marth and Kris try and hurry.

Now in the capital of Archanea, they battle the imperial army and then make their way into the palace for the final stand against Hardin, where Kris can face him in battle, though he will only seek a battle against Marth. After Hardin is defeated, all the orbs are gathered and the Fire Emblem is completed and restored as the Binding Shield. When Nyna, Maria, Elice, and Lena arrive, the power of the Binding Shield dispel the magic surrounding the four and reveals them to have been Gharnef's priests that had an illusion cast over them to deceive Marth. Realizing that Gharnef was attempting to revive Medeus once more, they continue their battle by trying to locate Medeus and Gharnef. They also learn that the base of operations for the assassins that Eremiya ran was an orphanage in the mountains of Archanea. Kris volunteers to end the assassins for good, but Katarina arrives and tells them a secret route that they could take.

As they enter the orphanage, Kris learned how Katarina was raised, where she lived in darkness and turned into mere puppets, but now Katarina had a will of her own thanks to Kris. After defeating Eremiya, they learn of her origins and descent to madness, and Kris remarks that with the assassins now gone, there would be no more victims like Katarina.

Going directly between the borders of Macedon and Dolhr, Kris informs Marth that there's a large amount of wyverns and Barbarians coming their way, commenting that it was even worse than in Anri's Way. When Ymir arrives to help, Kris mistakes him for a barbarian, but Marth informs Kris that he was a comrade. Realizing their mistake, Kris apologizes to Ymir and introduces themselves. After the battle, Ymir speaks to Kris and offers them a hat made from animal hide, which they can agree to or not. Should they wear it, Marth comments that Kris would surely stand out as a target.

Once they enter the Dragon's Table, Gotoh arrives and brings in Nagi, whom Kris questions if she was an ally from the previous war, to which Marth denies, but remarks that he recognizes her for some reason. Now entering the battle, they break through the numerous enemies and go through some stairways to go further in. If Kris is wearing Ymir's hat, they can choose to remove it due to sticking out like a sore thumb.

Before facing Gharnef, Marth speaks of Gharnef's power, and then notes Kris' ability to resist magic, which can be impeccable such that they would be their strongest hope of defeating Gharnef, fairly resistant but still at risk against Gharnef, or have very little resistance and thus should avoid Gharnef. Should Kris face Gharnef, they declare that they would not allow Marth to die. After Gharnef is defeated and Falchion is recovered, they make their way to the final room where Medeus is.

As they approach the final room, Marth displays some nervousness, and Kris reassures them by mentioning that once in their past as a child, they met a fortune teller, who told them what Kris' future would be depending on the player's choice in the beginning, where Kris would:

  • Grow up to be a legendary hero.
  • Live out life quietly.
  • Follow their calling like an arrow.
  • Devote their life to the service of others.
  • Be ridiculously rich and famous.

They then add that Kris would grow to be 100 years old, and while Marth was surprised, he realizes that if that was the case, then that meant that they would surely survive this battle through, which reassures Marth.

In the final chamber, the four kidnapped priestesses are discovered to be hypnotized and may eventually be sacrificed to empower Medeus. When Jagen suggests that they may need to kill them in order to prevent this, Marth sends several key members to break the spell on them. Thanks to Julian, Merric, Minerva, and Sirius, the spell is broken on Lena, Elice, Maria, and Nyna respectively, allowing Marth and his forces to face the Earth Dragon once more. Should Kris face him, the dragon mocks them for their hubris. Kris retorts, saying that even if they die, the will do as much as they can in their power to help Marth kill him. After a grueling battle, Medeus is killed, restoring peace to the world.

In the aftermath of the war, with the death of Hardin, Marth is recommended to become the new king of Archanea as he was the one who killed Medeus. Marth speaks to Kris afterwards, stating that he could not have done so without their assistance. When he states that the world shall know that Kris was responsible for Marth's successes during the war, Kris refuses to be acknowledged, stating that the world needs to be unified under a god-like hero to quell any possible dissent to his ascension. While disappointed that Kris chose to remain humbly unknown, Marth accepts their wishes but vows to continue to seek their aid as his most trustworthy confidant.

True to Marth's words, Kris is virtually left unmentioned in the annals of history. By the time of Awakening only Marth is credited as the sole hero who killed Medeus and the savior to Archanea. However, those present during the Hero King's time would note of a warrior who was practically Marth's shadow until their dying days. Many at the time would comment that Kris was the finest knight of Altea.

Personality[]

Instilled with the values of their grandfather, Kris is a stalwart warrior of unyielding compassion towards their comrades. Most notably is their loyalty to Marth, having become one of Marth's most treasured allies. They are extremely protective of him, snapping at General Lang for disrespecting him. A valuable ally to the Hero-King, even when faced with possible death at the hands of Medeus, Kris vows that they would help Marth by any means, even if it kills them. Marth himself questions their intense devotion to him, but is nonetheless appreciative to have a dependable companion during the war, seeing them as his other half.

By their own admission, Kris loves to fight and constantly trains to better themselves. In part, they want to honor their grandfather who himself has a strong legacy in the Altean Knights. Kris often worries that without a purpose, they would stray from the righteous path. While Marth is one of the people they have the strongest bond with, they have created strong bonds with other members of the army. They honor their allies wishes, such as keeping Sirius' true identity a secret even after discovering it.

Aside from Marth, Kris developed the strongest bonds with their fellow members of the 7th Platoon. In particular, Katarina becomes a treasured friend as she was the first person to befriend them as recruits. Her sudden betrayal deeply hurt Kris, but they held an unshakable belief that she could be redeemed. She became a sore subject for them, with most people avoid mentioning her as Kris would simply fall into a depressed silence. During multiple points in New Mystery of the Emblem, Kris goes out of their way to follow leads that could result in Katarina returning to them. It is only upon their final encounter are they given the chance to do so. Their unwavering belief in Katarina causes her to return to their side and they have assured her that they would always be there for her as she sought redemption for her sins.

Kris has several notable faults including a terrible sense of cooking. Caeda notes that their attempt at cooking created food that tasted like steel even after receiving guidance from her. Even their grandfather bluntly told them that they should never attempt to cook. Another is their horrid sense of direction. They are aware of this issue, yet they never seem to even notice they are lost until another person lets them know they are lost. Kris is also a bit naïve and easily believes the words of others. They are tricked by Xane into believing that sharing Tiki's hairstyle will grant them legendary strength. They even accept the tall tales surrounding some of their allies as fact.

When it comes to the subject of love, both are unsure about the subject. Male Kris gets flustered around some of the women of the army such as Phina and Palla. Female Kris states to Samuel that she had discarded her womanhood long ago and gets embarrassed whenever she is called cute or beautiful. This trait leaves them targets to be teased by others. Despite their straightforward personality, they have shown a slight playful side with Phina, as Male Kris makes a sudden confession of love, and Female Kris tries to get her to wear an extremely revealing dancing outfit, before revealing to have been joking.

Kris ardent firebrand pop01 Kris is a new recruit to the knights of Altea, assigned to the 7th Platoon. He's a little-known Hero who eventually became Marth's royal guard, but allowed all of his feats both on and off the battlefield to be attributed to the prince, giving up his place in history.

Etymology[]

Kris, or Chris, can be short for Christopher or Christine. The name originates from the Late Greek name Χριστοφορος (Christophoros) meaning "bearing Christ". It was meant to exemplify someone who carried Christ in their heart and is a similar allusion to Kris' relationship with Marth.

Kris is also the name of asymmetrical dagger used in southeastern Asia.

Trivia[]

  • Kris has an item named after themselves in Fire Emblem Awakening called Kris's Confect.
  • Prior to the release of Three Houses, Kris is one of the few units whose status screen portrait changes at some point of the game, a trait they share with Alm, Celica, Marth, Ike, Volke, Sothe, Micaiah and Lucina. Their change happens whenever you get the chance to change their hairstyle or headgear. Unlike other examples, the changes are not mandatory and can be reversed at the end of the next chapter.
  • Kris is referred to as female by Marth in Lost Bloodlines 2 when facing Female Robin in Awakening, and as male by Katarina in Rogues & Redeemers 1 when facing Male Robin in Awakening.
    • Kris is still mentioned in Rogues & Redeemers by Katarina when facing Female Robin of Awakening, but nothing gender specific.
  • Interestingly enough, the characters that can give support bonus to Female Kris are all units that are able to use bows on their main class recruited in.
  • In Heroes, Male Kris shares his English voice, Phillip Reich, with Ced.
