“A Sacred Twin staff. The ancient Staff of Latona.”
—In-game description

Latona is a Staff from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Also known as the Saint's Staff, Latona is, alongside Ivaldi, one of the Sacred Twins of Rausten. Deriving its name from the founder of Rausten himself, this staff completely replenishes the HP of all ally units on the battlefield and cures any status conditions. Unlike the other sacred weapons appearing in the game, the Latona Staff has a durability of only 3 uses.

The Latona Staff bears a resemblance to other S-ranked staves present within the series, including the Saint's and Ashera staves.

Background[]

In The Sacred Stones, Latona is, alongside the Glorious Light Ivaldi, given to Eirika by Mansel. Despite the fact that doing so violates the creed that forbid the relics from being removed from their resting place, Mansel makes an exception, urging Eirika to use them to save the world.

Etymology[]

Latona, also known as Leto in Greek mythology, is a Roman goddess who is revered for having conceived Apollo and Artemis. Apollo is exalted as the god of medicine and healing, while Artemis essentially embodies the very essence of fertility and wholeness. Latona's role as their maternal figure effectively causes her to be the vessel that fuses both powers together, where she is imbued with the combined efficacy of impeccable vigor and well-being. In the context of the game, the staff's name is an apt one, owing to its quaint ability to completely revitalize the health of every single ally unit present on a given map.
