—Lilina in a support conversation with Ogier in The Binding Blade
Lilina is a playable character in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. She is the daughter of the Marquess of Ostia, Hector.
Lilina also makes a brief cameo at the end of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.
Profile[]
The Blazing Blade[]
In a support conversation with Eliwood, Hector describes a dream he had recently of an older, bearded man conversing with a young blue-haired girl. Eliwood believes that Hector was having a glimpse of his future self, much to Hector's frustration.
With the passing of his brother Uther, Hector ascends to the role Marquess of Ostia. Shortly before his coronation, he summons Mark at the end of his tale, announcing that he and his wife want Mark to be their future child's godparent. Having decided that he will have a son named after his brother, he forgoes the thought of having a daughter. Hector's wife, who can be either Lyn, Florina, Farina, or another unnamed woman, asks for a girls name just in case they have one. As fate would have it, Hector would be blessed with a daughter, who he named Lilina as Mark had suggested.
Around a decade after the events of The Blazing Blade, Eliwood travels to Ostia to speak with Hector about the recent unrest in Bern regarding the attempted assassination of prince Zephiel. Lilina would meet Lord Eliwood for the first time and also become acquainted with his son Roy whom Eliwood had brought along. Though shy at first, the two strike up an immediate friendship and go off to play while their fathers continue to discuss the discord in Bern.
Years later, she and Roy studied in Ostia under the tutelage of the Mage General Cecilia. Lilina showed great aptitude in magic and was primarily trained to be a Mage while Roy was focused in swordplay. Due to the strong bond of friendship of their fathers and the time spent together under Cecilia's tutelage, Lilina grew fond of Roy, potentially blossoming into love depending on the outcomes of The Binding Blade.
The Binding Blade[]
During a break on her studies, Lilina was visiting Pherae, the territory ruled by Eliwood. Roy, who stayed in Ostia is suddenly called home by his sickly father. Upon arriving in Pherae, he finds that his home was being attacked by bandits. He manages to defeat them, rescuing his father and Lilina, who were barricaded in the Castle. Lilina was eager to help the fight, but was forbidden by Eliwood, who wanted her to return safe to Ostia, as a rebellion was going to break in the capital under Bern's attack, that wanted to conquer the nation of Lycia.
After sending her knight, Bors, to Roy’s service, Lilina hurries back home to Ostia. Unfortunately, after the death of Marquess Hector, some of the Ostian soldiers turn renegade and she is captured and locked inside of a room in her own castle. When Roy arrives to rescue her, the enemy General plans to kill Lilina, and attempt to pass it off as an unfortunate consequence of the upcoming war. If he is unsuccessful in his attempt of assassination, Lilina is rescued and joins Roy's army, along Ostian soldiers and knights that swore loyalty to her: Bors, Ogier, Gwendolyn, Astolfo and Barthe.
Despite being daughter of Hector and successor of Ostia, she trusts her soldiers under Roy's command, making an alliance, strengthening the army in an unified group and further making Pherae the new great power in Lycia instead of Ostia. After being devastated when learning of her father’s death, she leads Roy to a secret cave where they obtain one of the Divine Weapons: Durandal, the Blazing Sword.
As the journey advances, once the army arrives in the Western Isles, they need to face bandits who are exploiting the islanders for mining. One of the mercenaries, Gonzalez is ordered to burn down a village, suspected of being the base of a rebel faction. However, Lilina notices his sad and reluctant expression, and realizes that he can be reasoned with. Gonzalez attempts to get Lilina to have the villagers evacuate, so he can complete his orders without harming anyone, but Lilina sways him over to her side, with the promise of being accepted and no longer needing to harm innocent people to survive.
In a similar fashion, Lilina recruits Garret, a reluctant mercenary fighting for Bern, to the Lycian army. She convinces him to join the army with the promise of ending the war, and living in a future in which he wouldn't need to fight for money anymore.
Epilogue[]
Once the war is over, if Lilina survived, she succeeds her father, becoming the new marquess of Ostia and eventually becomes the first queen of Lycia after leading an unified alliance. Lilina is one of Roy's possible love interests, and if they have an A level support at the end of the game in the true ending after Roy defeats Idunn, an ending is triggered in which Roy and Lilina marry, not to mention that given this support condition, a special cutscene is also triggered where they are talking about Guinivere and her imminent crowning ceremony.
However, if Lilina was killed in battle, it's implied that Roy becomes the new leader and marquess of the entire Lycian League instead with Pherae as the new greatest power in Lycia, since it was decided in that way after Hector's death.
Personality[]
Lilina is outgoing and cheerful, often abandoning social obligations between nobility and commoners, deconstructing the knight's desire to maintain their relationship formal due to their different status. On the other hand, she is also childish, idealistic and naïve to the point of being slightly detached from reality. Emotional, she cries easily when she feels that she has hurt someone's feelings or dredged up painful memories.
Lilina's compassion and tendency to trust others blindly ultimately brings people to her, and none are particularly offended or troubled despite her occasional outbursts. During the war, Lilina feels anxious and left behind by her childhood friend Roy, realizing that he changed once he got a leadership position, since he had further responsibilities. She often compares her abilities to Roy, and feels unsure of her skills as a leader and future ruler of Ostia, fearing that she is not qualified enough since she is rather guileless and she didn't identify the coming uprising in Ostia. Seeing others being changed by the war resulted in Lilina feeling eager to be useful, despite missing the carefree older days.
She notably developed a childhood crush on Roy and relies in Marcus to help her with some advice as seen in their support dialogue, but the possibility that Roy doesn't feel the same is reason of anxiety for her, so she decides to focus on trying to win him over other girls, to not lose him to the "competition", although she never realizes that Larum also has a crush on Roy or at least it is never seen. It's implied that Lilina can move on from her feelings for Roy, as it's implicated in her A support with Gonzales, in which she realizes she wants to be by his side.
She eventually adapts to the circumstances and develops into a charismatic lady whose spontaneous charm allows her to connect with outcasts and lower members of the army. She matures into a charming leader that recruits a considerable amount of new members to their cause, such as Gonzalez and Garret. By interacting with them and her knights, she starts to understand in first hand the harsh reality of the common people, a reality that she was unaware due to being rather sheltered and naïve, finding in them a reason to fight, and a motivation to became a fair ruler.
She is stubborn like her father Hector, but is far more inclined to seek a peaceful solution. She loves her father dearly and is devastated by his death, but does everything to hide her sadness under a smile. Succeeding him as the future leader of Ostia, Lilina desires to improve herself to become a ruler befitting her father's legacy. Curiously, in her conversation with Ogier, she reveals the wish that she had a little sister, instead of being an only child.
Lilina's expansive personality contrasts with her disposition when she was a young child. A period in which she was shyer and more reserved towards strangers, yet polite and friendly, exemplified by her first meeting with Eliwood and his son.

Lilina boasts a very high Magic growth, being possibly the only unit in the game that is likely to cap the stat. Despite this, she joins at a low level and facing competition for the Chapter 8 Guiding Ring, with the next one appearing in Chapter 14. Lugh, who joins earlier, has similarly low bases with a higher emphasis on Speed and more time for investment. One thing to note is that she has a fast support growth with Roy which grants her important +3 Attack and +15 Accuracy/Critical bonuses. This gives her a niche wielding Bolting tomes later in the game thanks to her high damage output and the possibility of doubling some of the slower enemies thanks to its relatively lower weight in this game. In all, Lilina is a growth unit who joins under-levelled with low base stats at a time when many units should be around Level 10+. She also takes time and effort to train due to her frailty. However, the gaiden chapter unlocked by her recruitment and survival makes it very easy to get her on par with the rest of the army.

Base Set[]
Lilina performs similar to her original The Binding Blade incarnation with an impressively high base Atk stat of 37 with a neutral IV on it, allowing her to launch powerful attacks. Unfortunately, she lacks the speed needed to double attack enemies, forcing her to rely on one singularly powerful attack. She does have a respectable Res stat as well, letting her duel mages, but her Def leaves her vulnerable to physical assaults. During the first year of Heroes, Lilina was a subpar mage, but vastly improved with the introduction of the Weapon Refinery, turning her into one of the most powerful single hit nuke mages in the game.
Her starting tome was Bolganone, which fit naturally with her high base Atk to launch a single powerful 50 base Atk. Lilina was blessed to later on receive a new Legendary Weapon in the form of Forblaze a new powerful tome with a Chill Resistance effect, allowing her to better dispatch high Res threats. It also came with a Refine, giving her a Death Blow 3 effect, making her initiations even more powerful and can stack on an inherited Death Blow, leading to even higher nuking potential.
Growing Flame was a decently powerful AOE special that let her damage enemies with unresisted damage to enemies around her target when the skill activated. Attack +3 gave her a flat 3 damage boost to her Attack, but it lacks long-term viability. Spur Attack is a decent supporting Skill C, but other skills are better suited for Lilina.
Counters[]
Lilina's Spd and Def create her biggest weakness. She cannot survive any form of physical assaults aside from a few Green units. Great Blue mages like Delthea, Lute, and Micaiah easily survive her attacks and deal with her easily while Reinhardt can plow through her with Dire Thunder. Distant Counter weapon users like Fjorm, Camus, and Fallen Hardin also easily take her attacks and retaliate. Lastly, certain red units can deal with her if she is unable to finish them. Both forms of Tharja, Ryoma and Young Tiki are good Red units that can duel her and defeat her if she is unable to take care of them. If using an AOE Lilina, Vantage users who can counterattack can use the non-lethal damage limitation of her Special to enter the skill's damage range before demolishing her.
Skill Inheritance Options[]
Lilina is best built to be a Player Turn character. Given that Forblaze has Death Blow built into it, she can also run Death Blow in her Skill A slot, granting her a +14 Atk (12 if only using Death Blow 3) when she initiates, bringing her lowest possible Atk with a bane to 62 Atk on initiation and 68 with a Boon. Furthermore, adding a Death Blow seal adds an additional 6 Atk, meaning that an unmerged, no dragonflower Atk boon Lilina without any external visible buffs and in-combat buffs can achieve an astounding 74 Atk on initiation. Her high Atk stat makes her an excellent candidate for Draconic Aura as it scales with her impressive Attack, though Iceberg also works if working with a Res Boon Lilina. Some suggest taking an area of effect special such as Rising Flame to apply splash damage that is unaffected by color and can easily bring enemies down to 1 HP with the large difference between her potential Atk and her enemy's Res. Lilina's Spd problems are best dealt with by running Swordbreaker or R Tomebreaker as it at least allows her to better combat units of her own color type. Lull Attack Resistance negates enemy visible buffs mainly to their Res and lowers them while simultaneously increasing her own Atk/Res. Her Skill C can be a plethora of supportive skills that help her allies. If able to secure a premium unit with Odd Attack Wave or Even Attack Wave, she can self-buff herself with +6 Atk on Odd/Even turns respectively, thus bringing her maximum Atk to 74 when initiating. She is a decent candidate for Ploy skills given her good Res so that option is also available.

Base Set[]
Valentines Lilina existed in an unsaturated weapon/unit type combination pool and when compared to her counterparts, she stood out having slightly better offense than Cecilia but not quite the potent force of some later units introduced after her. She can easily fill a role given to her for a Cavalry team, giving her excellent flexibility, but other units have been introduced since and can specialize for specific niches.
Green Gift neutralizes enemy bonuses if they use ranged weapons, making her an excellent check for common bladetome users who rely on buffs. Blazing Flame is an area of effect special that causes damage equal to 1.5x the different between Valentines Lilina’s Atk and the foe’s Res. With her modest Atk, she can deal decent splash with it. HP/Atk 2 gives her a flat HP +4 and Atk +2 increase which are good short term increases, but better replaced. Attack Tactic grants a +6 Atk buff to allies on within two spaces of Valentines Lilina if there are no more than two allies who are of the same movement type. This is useful for mixed teams, but not for pure Cavalry Teams.
Counters[]
Valentines Lilina's defenses are both low, especially her Def. With a plethora of Red physical units to choose from, Valentines Lilina is utterly helpless against any Red unit who can get to her. While her Res is slightly stronger, common red mages like Sanaki, Katarina, Tharja and ironically her own original form can easily defeat her. Certain strong Green Mages can combat her easily, though if she is maintaining her Green Gift, she can depower some of them like Nino. Anti-Cavalry weapons are another new weakness including Gray, his Zanbato, Summer Micaiah, and Rhajat.
Skill Inheritance[]
Valentines Lilina can be turned into a Gronnblade user as her stats are strong enough to give it decent power behind and with Cavalry boosts, she can unleash devastating attacks. Fury and Desperation are the standard skills taken to boost her stats and give immediate follow-up attacks respectively. Moonbow ignores parts of her foe’s Res and charges quickly while Glimmer is powered by buffs she receives. A Cavalry skill of some form is recommended for her as she is at her strongest on an enemy team. Finally Reposition is always a solid choice for a Cavalry unit.

Legendary Lilina is a Pair Up blessed Fire Legendary Hero who is also a Red Tome Cavalry unit. She retains many of her base form's strengths, namely an incredible 42 Atk and high magical bulk scoring at 79. She does trade off these for a low 21 Spd and pitiful 16 Def, but her exceptionally explosive yield makes her a terrifying mage nuke unit.
Studied Forblaze accelerates her Special trigger and on Turn 1, has a Quickened Pulse effect. If she initiates combat over 25% of her maximum HP, she gains Atk/Res +6 and negates any skill that changes attack priority like Vantage, which is valuable in particular in Aether Raids.
Gifted Magic is her unique Area of Effect special that can damage up to five foes in the shape of a "+" with her target at the center of the area of effect, dealing 0.8x her damage when comparing her Atk against Res of foe(s) in the effect. In tandem with her Tome, Legendary Lilina effectively has her attack immediately ready on the Turn 1 and can keep it constantly charged to incinerate the competition.
Attack Resistance Solo perfectly compliments her two strongest stats by boosting her Atk and Res by 7 if she is not adjacent to an ally. Sabotage Resistance allows her to inflict a massive Res-7 to any foe who has three less Res than her and is adjacent to their allied units. Pulse Smoke inflicts a Special Charge onto foes within two spaces of her at the start of her turn, slowing down their damage output and allowing her more room to nuke units safely before retaliation.
Counters[]
Legendary Lilina will easily fall to a physical unit who can aggressively attack her first or somehow survives being attack. She can bait certain mages, namely Green Tome units and some Red, but she struggles against high Res Blue tome units like Marianne and Guinivere. Guard is also an extremely detrimental skill to Legendary Lilina as it slows down her Gifted Magic charges.
Skill Inheritance[]
Legendary Lilina's only empty skill slot is her Assist Skill, which Reposition is an excellent choice due to the utility it provides. Her remaining kit has tons of replacement options like Iceberg for more flat damage, though giving her a Quickened Pulse seal is necessary to have it fully charged on the first turn. Lull Attack Resistance gives her foes an Atk/Res-3 and neutralizes any visible buffs on those two stats. Skill C is flexible as she can maintain her Pulse Smoke or take other supportive options like Hone Cavalry/Ward Cavalry to assist cavalry allies. Resistance Smoke also further inflicts Res penalties to further increase her damage overall.

Etymology[]
"Lilina" is a rare girl's name of Australian origin, but is used as a Danish name. There is no exact meaning of the name itself.[1]
Trivia[]
- Lilina has been in multiple popularity contests and statistics based on character favoritism:
- On the official Japanese website for Nintendo, Lilina won 3rd place out of 80 in the character popularity poll for Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. The male-female vote ratio is 2:1. The voter comments seem to generally focus on her being a powerful Mage/Sage and her gentle personality.
- Lilina came in 25th place for females in the 2017 Fire Emblem Heroes Choose Your Legends popularity poll. She had 5,730 votes, ranking in 49th place overall.
- Lilina's Support with Roy grows 33% faster than Supports between close relatives and spouses, and twice as fast as supports between characters who are already friends.
- As established in The Blazing Blade, Lilina is the only playable Anima-user in the main story of The Binding Blade to lack a magic-using parent; Lugh is canonically the son of Nino, Clarine is the daughter of Pent, and Hugh is the son of Canas. The only other Anima-user who might not have a magic-using parent is Cecilia, whose father is either a Paladin or a Hero, but we don't know anything about her mother.
- Even when considering player's options in The Blazing Blade, her named options for a mother, Lyn, Florina, and Farina, are not magic-using mothers.
- Lilina shares her English voice actor, Julie Kliewer/Maddalena, with Sharena and Florina in Fire Emblem Heroes.
- If Eliwood marries Fiora, and Hector marries Farina or Florina in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, Lilina will be Roy's first cousin.
- Lilina is the winner of the 16th Voting Gauntlet ("Fathers and Daughters") in Fire Emblem Heroes.
