“There's nothing left to hide you or the filthy Central Church from the judgment of the goddess!”
—Lonato, during the battle of Magdred Way in Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Lonato is a character from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. He is the lord of the Gaspard region in the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, which borders on the Adrestian Empire, and the adoptive father of Ashe.

Profile[]

In his youth, Lonato served King Lambert's older brother, Rufus, which earned him both status and prestige.

Lonato encountered and adopted Ashe in Imperial Year 1173 after he attempted to rob his manor, alongside his younger siblings, raising them alongside his son Christophe.

Three Houses[]

Although Lonato was a believer in the Goddess, he turned against the Church of Seiros after the Knights of Seiros executed Christophe in 1176. The church was aware of Lonato's hostility, but it did not escalate into open conflict until Imperial Year 1180, when he finally instigated a rebellion against the church. Lonato had kept Ashe in the dark about his plans.

The Knights of Seiros are sent to Castle Gaspard to quell Lonato's rebellion, but are ambushed in the fog at Magdred Way by Lonato and his troops.

After his defeat, Byleth and Catherine discover a letter on him from the Western Church, describing a plot to assassinate Archbishop Rhea.

Warriors: Three Hopes[]

During the war, Lonato launches his rebellion against Rhea just as he did in Three Houses.

Scarlet Blaze[]

Count Rowe, Lonato's liege, declares his support for the Empire, but Lonato disrupts their plans by going after Rhea by himself. The Imperial army sends a rescue team to search for him on Magdred Way in spite of the heavy fog. During this mission, Ashe appears as part of the Kingdom's strike team against Lonato's army, but he can be convinced to join the Empire as well, with Lonato pleading for him not to throw his life away.

When House Rowe is besieged by the Kingdom army at Arianrhod, Count Rowe gets impatient waiting for Edelgard's army to come to his aid, and considers accepting Count Duval and Viscount Elidure's offer of surrender to Dimitri. Rowe blames Lonato's reckless attack on Rhea for putting them in such a position, and Lonato responds by warning Rowe that he would forever lose his people's trust if he were to betray the Empire after he had already betrayed the Kingdom.

Azure Gleam[]

The same occurs as in Scarlet Blaze, but because of his rebellion against the Church and the Kingdom, Dimitri and his army must kill him to stop him. Ashe is devastated by this turn of events.
