This article refers to the stat magic, for the article on the different types of magic (i.e Dark magic, Anima magic, Light magic, etc.) click here.

Magic (魔力 Maryoku lit. Magical Power) is the stat that determines the potency of magical attacks and healing staves. In some games, it also affects the range of staves like Physic or Warp, with the range of these staves being user's Magic divided by 2, often with a minimum of 5 range.

Overview[]

Magic is one of the traditional core character statistics units possess, and like the other core stats, it has a chance of increasing when a unit levels up. Depending on the game in question, units may have both Strength and Magic stats, or only Strength or Magic, based on whether or not the unit is a magic-using class. Examples of classes with a focus on magic usage include Mage, Sage, Bishop, Curate, Cleric, Priest, Shaman, Druid, Saint, Archsage, Valkyrie, Mage Knight, Summoner, and Monk. Most physical-focused classes have very low to nonexistent magic growths, due to the rarity of them needing to make use of it.

In Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, and the three Game Boy Advance titles, the Magic stat is only present for units in magic-focused classes.

In Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, the Magic stat also functions as the Resistance stat. The same holds true in TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga.

In Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776, and all games since Path of Radiance, characters have separate Strength and Magic stats. In these games, a unit's magic stat affects the strength of magic weapons like the Levin Sword, Bolt Axe, Flame Lance, and Sonic Sword.
