—In-game description, New Mystery of the Emblem
The Magestone is a Dragonstone that appears in the Archanea Series of Fire Emblem Series. Infused with the compressed power of a Mage Dragon, the Magestone allows a Manakete to assume the form of such a dragon, granting them numerous statistical bonuses that enable them to engage in combat in the process. Notably, the Mage Dragon specialises in Resistance, allowing for Manaketes using the Magestone to develop an immunity to magical attacks. This is especially true in the original incarnation of the stone, where it completely negates magic.
In Mystery of the Emblem, all Manaketes in the game are able to wield the Magestone, save for Bantu.
The Magestone also appears in The Binding Blade as unused data. It is not known whether the stone is meant to serve any significant purpose prior to the final release of the game. It was most likely used by Idunn, because the item description reads "transforms the user into the demon dragon".
