“No... Prince Marth! You are our leader! Stand up! Sire!”
—Quote if Marth is defeated when Shiida, Jagen and Nyna are all absent, but Malledus is present).

Malledus (モロドフ, Morodof, Morodof in the Japanese version) is a non-playable character from Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi. He is Marth's elderly tactician and the first tactician to appear in the Fire Emblem series. Malledus was also the former confidant to Marth's late father, King Cornelius. During the game, he explains to Marth the events of the war where Marth's ancestor, Anri, fought Medeus. Throughout the game, Malledus remains unplayable.

At the start of Book 2 in Fire Emblem: Monshō no Nazo, he falls ill and can no longer help Marth, and is replaced by Jagen as the main strategist.

Archetype

Named after Malledus from FE1 who was Marth's tactician, ever since then there's been a tactician/advisor/strategist in the army or kingdom that gives advice to the main character. While a NPC in the earlier games, in the later games they double as a playable character.

List of Malleduses

There are others who are considered Malleduses, but this is the generally agreed upon list.
