Mercenary Complications is a paralogue chapter for Leonie and Shamir in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. It is available from Chapter 14 of the Scarlet Blaze story route, or Chapter 8 of the Golden Wildfire story route.

Story[]

Shamir prepares to go out on a private mission when Leonie and Shez notice her looking troubled, and insist on asking what's going on. Shamir relents and tells the duo that she is being targeted by a former employer who hired a mercenary company--the notorious Guardians of Fódlan--to apprehend her.

Shez, Leonie, and Shamir decide to attack one of the Guardians' strongholds to prevent their pursuit,with Leonie continuing to press Shamir for details about her past with the Guardians during the battle. Shez, who also has experience fighting against the group, mentions that they behave more like a large-scale bandit gang than a standard mercenary company such as the ones led by Jeralt or Berling. Even though their primary interest is in capturing Shamir, some of the enemy mercenaries also recognize Shez and Leonie and attempt to kill them as well.

After they return to camp, Shamir implies that the noble who employed the Guardians to capture her had designs for her that went beyond a professional relationship. Shez quickly drops the subject when Leonie asks them about it, but a curious Leonie decides to ask Shamir herself after getting some rest.
