The Misteltán is an object in Book IX of Fire Emblem Heroes.

It is a jewel kept at the edge of the world that is imbued with Alfaðör's power, therefore having the ability to remove the blessing put on Baldr that makes her invincible.

Profile[]

Due to her divine protection, the Order of Heroes seek out a means to remove Baldr's invincibility blessing. Loki suggests that the Order of Heroes seek out the Misteltán, a white stone which can remove the protection. Once the Order recovers the Misteltán, Rune discovers that only those who share Alfaðör's blood can use it. In other words, only Alfaðör, Baldr herself, or Baldr's sister, Höðr.

In truth, the Misteltán is actually a black jewel. While guised as Baldr, Loki told Höðr of a black jewel called the Aesc that is the inverse of the Misteltán, having the ability to heal. Knowing of the Order's plans to use the Misteltán, Höðr went to recover it. With both the Order and Höðr given false information, the jewel the Order retrieved was actually the Aesc, and the jewel Höðr retrieved was the Misteltán. Through this deception, Loki manipulated Höðr into using the jewel, stripping Baldr of her invincibility.

Etymology[]

Misteltán is Old Norse for mistletoe. In Norse Mythology, Baldr was killed by a dart made of mistletoe at the hands of Hoðr as, despite the vow by Frigg that no object of the earth could harm him, mistletoe was the only exception.
