After war ended, Naris became the imperial court mage under the king of Reeve's orders. However, he gradually became obsessed with power. After discovering that [[Enteh|Maeve]] had the holy markings of Muse, he took advantage of Mios's absence and locked her in a room located within the Temple of Water. He kept Maeve's whereabouts as a secret and intended to use her for his own ambitions. This resulted in the queen's death by grief and his wife committing suicide. When Mios returned and released Maeve, Naris was banished and later killed by a [[Zoa]]n swordsman during a hunt for Zoans.
