Order is a gameplay feature found in Fire Emblem Gaiden, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, and Fire Emblem Awakening. It allows the player to set a certain strategy that, when ending their turn, all unmoved Player Units will follow. In Gaiden and Awakening the commands are located in the map menu. In Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn it can only be used by the leader of the player's army. It is comparable to the Direct command.
This command is rather impractical, as the player will generally want to move their units themselves, and if they do choose an Order other than halt, they will have to issue the Wait command to every unit they want to remain stationary.
Gaiden only features two types of Orders. These commands are available from the menu when selecting an empty space.
All units attack whatever is in their range.
Path of Radiance and Radiant DawnEdit
Both of these titles feature the same four sub-commands of Order: Rally, Halt, Avoid and Target.
Ordering the units to rally means they'll gather around the army's leader.
Ordering the units to halt means they will not move. This is the default Order.
Order the units to avoid to have them stay out of enemies' attack range as much as possible. This is the only Order that differs between the two games; in Path of Radiance, the units will move into a corner as far from the enemy as possible, while in Radiant Dawn, they will move as close to enemy lines as possible while still staying out of their attack range.
When selecting this Order, the player will be prompted to mark one tile on the map. The units will move towards the selected tile.
In Awakening there is auto-battle, in which units take actions on their own, generally attacking. There is only one option in Casual mode, but options found in previous games return in Classic and can be turned on through the Options menu in Casual. In Casual, the player cannot have specific units, for instance, run away on their own.
Casual: After initiated, all units move automatically, the player can press x to cancel Auto-Battle mid-turn.
Classic: With the cursor over the Auto option, the player can press x to change the tactics of all unmoved units, or choose specific units to use specific tactics. These tactics include Guard, Blitz, and Stay.
