Panette is a character from Fire Emblem Engage. She is one of Timerra's retainers.
Profile[]
Born in an oasis town in Solm, Panette came from a dysfunctional family with a corrupt priestess for a mother and a drunkard father. Her only other family is her older brother Pandreo. Fed up with the neglect and behavior of her bad parents, Panette ran away from home.
She took out her anger by picking fights with the people around her, eventually meeting and befriending Timerra, not realizing she was Solm's princess. After time spent together battling bandits and thieves around the kingdom, Timerra offers Panette a place as her retainer. She accepts, and as luck would have it, her new appointment ultimately brings her back together with Pandreo, who had become the retainer of Timerra's younger brother, Prince Fogado.
Personality[]
Panette talks mainly in a polite, yet dignified manner as she takes pride in her role as Timerra's retainer and feels the need to present herself in a fashion befitting her station. However, she can sound stiff as a result. Having put on this façade, she has also become adept at telling when people are hiding their true selves, immediately seeing through Yunaka's sprightly persona.
In reality, Panette has a much wilder disposition as she revels in brawling, especially displaying such behavior openly in battle, though her combat lines shows a mix of these two patterns. Much of this is due to her parents, a corrupt priestess mother and a neglectful, drunkard father, filling her with immense fury. By her own admission, she would often vent her frustrations on any person unfortunate to anger her. She was given a positive means of utilizing her rage and even shudders at the thought of being consumed by it had she not met Timerra and is grateful to her as a result.
Panette is bitter towards her parents as she scorns them whenever she mentions them. To this day, she has refused to associate herself with her parents and has stated that she has no desire to see them ever again, at least at the start of her support chain with her brother. Their church also left bad memories and she states that she would rather die than return to worship in it. Despite years of separation, Panette has a cordial relationship with Pandreo and is one of the few people she feels comfortable talking normally to, albeit at his insistence to keep her honest. Hearing why he assumed the position as the priest of the church, she is supportive of her brother and by the end of their support chain, goes back to the church once to pray for her parents should they still be alive. While Panette has not completely forgiven her parents, she at least is willing to hear them out should they meet again.
Panette has a fondness for insects and anything related to ghosts.
In an alternate reality, Panette was afraid of graveyards according to Timerra.

Panette is the second axe infantry specialist of Engage and joins around the time of many powerful units, of which she is no exception. She is incredibly hard-hitting, with a monstrous 25 starting Strength and a 45% natural growth rate. While her Speed is a bit lacking at 13 with a 25% growth, her Dexterity is of similar power to her Strength, starting at 19 with a 40% growth. Combined with her 75% growth in HP, Panette is an incredibly potent glass cannon unit who hits incredibly hard and is exceptionally potent for fishing Critical Hits in combat. Her Personal Skill, Blood Fury, emphasizes this as she gains Crit+10 after combat if she is not at full health after combat.
As a Berserker, Panette is focused on unleashing devastating damage, mainly through Critical hits, which her stats perfectly compliment. She also is a Backup Unit so she can contribute in combat in Chain Attacks. She gains Smash+ at Level 5, allowing her to push enemies back two spaces when initiating combat with a Smash Weapon. Ideally, Panette enjoy skills involving HP thresholds being met to fulfill and maintain her Personal Skill so it is constantly active and have a Killer Axe with the right level of refines and engraving to perform at optimal level. Depending on her skills and growths, it is possible for Panette to achieve a 100% Critical Hit rate in battle, letting her destroy foes with ease.
Before discussing Panette's ideal Rings, the skills from certain rings are better discussed as these will contribute to better understanding of getting the maximum benefits of her capabilities. Wrath, which comes from Ike's Ring, gives Panette an increase to her Crit rate depending on how much HP she has lost, maximizing at 30 if she has lost 30 or more HP. Vantage, which comes from Leif's Ring, allows Panette to make her attack first during the enemy phase if her HP is under 25% at first rank and up to under 75% HP with Vantage++. Hold Out, which comes from Roy's Ring, allows Panette to survive a fatal blow with at least 1 HP if she is at a certain threshold at the start of combat, only requiring that she have at least 2 HP if its Hold Out+++, which is mainly a good safety net to fall into if she is unlucky.
Due to the skills mentioned above, Panette's best rings are the Rings of the Sage Lord, Young Lion, and Radiant Hero, as equipping one of them gives leaves the other two to be inherited to get all three together. Equipping the Ring of the Sage Lord gives Panette the strong Quadruple Hit Engage Attack, though given her strong offensive, it is likely overkill if she needs to utilize the ability. She also becomes extremely resilient to Lance foes, though the ring's natural Adaptable can be a crutch if the ring forces her off her Axes, resulting in an unwanted received attack. The Ring of the Young Lion gives Panette higher natural base Atk, is treated as +5 Level once engaged, and Blazing Lion sets tiles ablaze, albeit forcing her to use a Sword to utilize this move. Advance is a great gap closer to sneak in an additional space of moment to finish off a foe. The Ring of the Radiant Hero gives Panette additional physical bulk through the flat Defense increase of his ring. Axe Power gives her upwards to +10 Atk at the cost of 10 Avoid, but if she can use that Attack to kill her foe before they can even attack, the Avoid is moot in the grand scheme. It also gives Panette superb capabilities as a mixed phase units and Great Aether allows her to damage foes in a large area, which can both break foes and even crit, and heal based off of her damage dealt. The Ring of the Holy Knight offers Panette incredible movement range and she can take her movement and translate it into damage with Momentum and even retreat after battle with Canter.
Overall, Panette is an incredible frontline unit and easily pays dividends once she is given attention as a critical hit generating machine. Though she needs to bond with multiple rings, and needs to dive very deep into them Bond Level wise, the returns on her once accomplished makes her the strongest physical damage dealer at the player's disposal.
