A Perfect Level Up is a fan-term for a flawless Level Up for any character in the franchise.

Overview[]

As the name suggests, a Perfect Level Up occurs when a character gains a point increase in every single stat possible. Due to the fact that stat increases upon leveling up are due to a characters innate Growth Rate for each stat, it is never guaranteed that stats will increase each level up.

Pre-Promoted characters tend to have a lower chance than non-promoted units of gaining a Perfect Level Up naturally, due to their stats normally being set at lower rates as a result of their promoted status. On the other hand, characters who join late in the game at a lower level such as Est in Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, as well as similar characters of her fan-defined archetype, tend to have better chances due to possessing higher total growth rates than most other units. The only character currently guaranteed to obtain a perfect level up is Karel from The Binding Blade, due to his incredibly high growth rates, all of which are 100 or greater.

In most older Fire Emblem games, a Perfect Level Up is nearly impossible to achieve without luck, as stat growths on level up are based on random number generation, and the units only have so many chances to level up before the end of the story. However, in more modern games starting in Fire Emblem Awakening, the inclusion of side-missions and maps dedicated to leveling units up offers more opportunities to achieve a Perfect Level Up, though the chances of success are still rare due to individual character growth rates and RNG.

The opposite of a Perfect Level Up is the fan-termed Blank Level Up or Empty Level Up where a character gains no stat increases to any of their stats. Both a Perfect Level Up and Blank Level Up do not take into account if a character has already reached the maximum stat cap they have when determining if they have achieved either. Some later games such as Radiant Dawn prevent the possibility of a Blank Level Up by enforcing a minimum of at least one stat increasing per level.
