—Peri introducing herself in Chapter 12 (Conquest)
Peri is a playable character in Fire Emblem Fates and an ally on the Conquest and Revelation routes. She is Xander's retainer.
Profile[]
Peri is a daughter of a noble family in Nohr and a subordinate to Prince Xander. Her supports with Laslow reveal that prior to the events of Fates, her mother (who she was very close to) was killed by a servant who became obsessed with her mother and wanted her forever. A very young Peri walked in on the murder scene, initially thinking it was a lot of tomato juice that spilled before realizing that her mother was dead. She suffered severe emotional trauma as a result, which locked her mind and heart in a perpetually childish mindset.
Despite the servant being executed by her father, Peri still thought that any servant in her house was her mother's murderer, and took to murdering them, using mistakes they made as excuses. Even though her father was aware of this, he never said anything or got any help for his vengeful daughter, and she eventually left when the numbers began dwindling.
One day, Peri participated in a nobles' fighting tournament and ultimately placed third. Among the spectators of the tournament was Xander. Impressed by her character from watching her fight, Xander immediately summoned Peri to become his retainer, an offer she accepted. Should they achieve an S-Support, Xander reveals that he did so with the intention of marrying her.

Peri first appears in Chapter 12 alongside Laslow, assisting Xander in stopping Corrin.
In Chapter 26, Xander orders Peri and Laslow to stay in his room while he duels Corrin alone. Concerned with his safety, the two disobey his orders, grab several soldiers and rush to Xander's aid, worrying him even more. Peri can be killed or spared in the ensuing fight; if she is spared, it is unknown what happens to her after the battle.

Peri first appears in Chapter 12 alongside Laslow, protecting Corrin from Ryoma's attacks after he ambushes them at Palace Macrath.
The two help Corrin break through Hoshidan lines and accompany Corrin, helping them settle the age old conflict between Hoshido and Nohr. She is appointed commander of the Nohrian army thereafter, eventually losing her cruelty.Revelation[]

Peri first appears in Chapter 13, where she accompanies Xander to battle the Hoshidans in the ruined city of Cyrkensia. At the end of the battle, she retreats alongside the rest of the Nohrian Army.
Peri later appears and joins Corrin's army in Chapter 17 after Xander decides to join Corrin's army.
Peri subsequently aids Corrin's effort to put an end to Anankos' machinations. If she marries Male Corrin or Xander, she will become the queen of Valla and Nohr respectively.Personality[]
Peri mostly acts like a spoiled child, crying very easily when upset. Her childish tendencies are further emphasized in the Japanese version, as Peri refers to herself in the third-person, a trait usually done by young Japanese children or childish adults. As a result, her speech patterns are remarkably juvenile and is highly emotional, often getting upset over the smallest contrivances that leave her a sobbing mess and even throwing, to put it mildly, intense tantrums.
Her childish personality is the result of the gruesome murder of her mother at a young age by a servant of her family's estate. When she discovered her mother's corpse in a pool of her blood, Peri's mind shattered. She violently took out her grief on all of the servants and eventually escalated in time to her murdering them whenever she found an excuse. Her father apathetically responded to her violence, further cementing Peri's stunted sense of morality.
Peri is a borderline sociopath as she relishes in the act of murder and treats the prospect in a casual manner. If someone wrongs her, no matter how small it may be, Peri bluntly threatens to murder the perpetrator of her grievances. Sometimes she even threatens to murder innocent bystanders if they get in her perceived way. On occasion, she actually does follow through with her threats as she warned Felicia that she would kill her if she spilled tea on her. Upon doing so accidentally, she immediately followed through with her threat, though Felicia was saved by her martial prowess. Her violence understandably causes many to respond with hesitation and alarm, though this only serves to fuel her emotional fragility against all others.
That being said, Peri has enough control to mostly keep her impulses in check and restricted to the battlefield where she is supposed to be killing people. She is a fearsome warrior as a result, having earned her spot as one of Xander's main retainers. It is because of this status that most people question what value Xander sees in her socially as she acts atypical as one would expect of a royal retainer, especially of the Crown Prince himself. She does enjoy a good fight, even though she hates the idea of being killed herself, as she immediately warmed up to Felicia when she deflected all of her attacks when she was earnestly trying to kill her and even personally requested Felicia to train her servants so they can "put up a better fight." Likewise she plainly stated that she would not kill babies or kittens despite rumors that she would.
Despite her impulses, Peri has some limited admittance that her behavior is wrong, as shown in her supports with Jakob and Leo, where she shows genuine distress when "killing" is directed at her. Her supports with Arthur also support this, as when he brings her the blade she wanted, she considers that maybe stabbing does not have to be the solution for everything. Silas also presumes that Xander is partial to her. When Laslow asks her if she thinks of the people who are close to those she kills, this leaves her speechless and prompts her to tell him about her mother's murder. In some supports, her partner attempts to teach to teach her morality, but most fail and simply accept her murderous tendencies as a part of her.
At the end of the war, Peri seems to have calmed down better, when unmarried, her ending states that her cruelty faded, and if married, states that she eventually learned the difference between right and wrong. An exception to this is if she marries Odin or Laslow, in which case she vanishes along with her husband at the same time a string of missing-persons cases comes to an end.
Peri cooks the best out of everyone else in the army primarily because she always cooked her own meals due to her fear of poisoned food. This is highlighted greatly in her supports with Kaze, where he comments on the complexity and deliciousness of her snacks and her support with Selena, where she beats her in a cooking contest. Peri also reveals to Kaze that all of her cooking comes from natural talent, as she never had any formal training. She prefers cutting raw meat the most just to see the blood spill out of it.
Outside of the fear of being targeted for death, Peri has a fear of bugs and will kill them if she sees them, as shown in her support with Kaden. She likes butterflies, however. She is also afraid of mummies, and is allergic to fool's gold.

Base Class[]
Peri generally performs well as a mage-killer since she has relatively high Strength, Speed, and Resistance growths to allow her to reliably rush or kill magic users without incurring devastating counter damage. However, as she suffers from a mediocre HP growth, she cannot sustain prolonged magic attacks as well as low Defense growths, making her less durable against physical weapons compared to the other Cavaliers. Nevertheless, her high Movement can help her enter range of mages, bait them closer to your allies for her or an ally to finish off. Her personal skill, Bloodthirst, grants her a 4-point boost to Strength, Magic, Speed, and Skill when she initiates and defeats the enemy. This effect lasts until the start of the player's next turn. This makes Peri sync well with Azura as her singing can allow her to use her Personal skill in an offensive manner, rather than utilizing it only for counterattacks. Alternatively, if Dark Falcon is available, she can become a potent solo unit killer as she can kill an enemy, refresh herself with Galeforce, and perform another turn of action without having to use Azura. However, her personal skill counts as a Rally effect, meaning that Rally bonuses will not stack on this skill.
Peri comes with her Cavalier skills already learnt. Elbow Room provides a 3 point boost on her attacks when she is on a terrain bonus-less tile such as a Plain or a Floor. Shelter is a good supportive skill to pull an ally unit into her, making them a Guard Stance ally. Depending on what the player wants to do with her, Peri's two promotions leads to different results.
Peri's first Promotion is Paladin, which keeps her relatively the same, though she gains more movement and resistance growths. She first learns Defender starting at Level 5, which gives her stats a 1 point bonus whenever she is the lead in a Guard Stance, synching well with Shelter for unit rescuing. These bonuses also stack on her Personal Skill. At Level 15, Peri learns Aegis, which shaves damage from distance weapons, most notably Magic, further making her nearly unkillable by Mage units. Peri's semi-low Skill growths means that she may not have a high activation rate, but it still can activate with some reliability if she has gained a modest amount. If Peri's role as a mage-killer or a mage bait unit is working, this promotion is best to keep that role.
Peri's second promotion option is Great Knight. She exchanges some of her Speed, Luck, and Resistance in exchange for higher HP, Strength, and Defense growths. Normally, Great Knight proves to be a Physical Tank more than a balanced unit, but Peri's defensive growths equalize in this class. While she loses her specialized role, she becomes an all-around tank compared to Silas or Xander. Peri learns Luna, one of her two attacking skills in her base class set, which ignores half of the enemies' Defense when attacking, which is good against particularly tanky units. She also learns Armored Blow, which further boosts her Defense when attacking, which can be useful given her semi-low defense growths, even when in this class. Overall, she is a more balanced tank compared to the other Cavaliers in the game in this class.
Secondary Class[]
Peri's secondary class is Dark Mage, entailing the Sorcerer and Dark Knight promotions. Her very poor base magic growth will likely prevent her from performing at even subpar standards for a spell caster, unless she's fed Stat Boosts. Regardless, the class set offers an interesting set of skills for expanding Peri's role as an anti-mage or clean-up.
Dark Mage offers two skills: Heartseeker and Malefic Aura. Heartseeker reduces the avoid rate of adjacent enemies by 20, which can be useful for Peri's offensive playstyles as it boosts Peri's chance of hitting her enemies, especially considering her low Skill. Enemies within two spaces of Malefic Aura holders will incur 2 additional damage from any magic attack. This skill provides Peri an opportunity to slightly support allied magic users.
Sorcerer class offers two skills: Vengeance and Bowbreaker. Vengeance is an offensive skill which, when activated, adds half of accrued damage to the user's might in battle; the rate of activation is 1.5 times the user's skill stat as a percentage. Peri may seldom see an effective Vengeance play because of her mediocre HP; nonetheless, it has the potential to deal bonus damage during counterattacks or in a pinch. Bowbreaker increases hit and avoid rates by 50 during any combat against a bow-user. This is a nice offensive and defensive skill against the plethora of bow-users in all three routes, and it slightly improves Peri's offensive playstyles in clean-up. Peri lacks the solid foundation to make an effective Sorcerer (without the help of stat-boosting items or very lucky level-ups), but the Sorcerer class provides skills that slightly aid in her offensive capabilities.
Dark Knight is typically the better class for Peri. It offers growths comparable to Great Knight's, has good mobility (same to Paladin), and retains the use of swords as a physical weapon. The class offers two skills: Seal Magic and Lifetaker. Seal Magic temporarily reduces the enemy's magic stat by 6 points after any combat with the user. This greatly augments Peri's capabilities to mage-kill or bait magic users, since her high Resistance allows her to tank magic attacks effectively. Lifetaker restores 50% of the user's health when the user initiates combat with an enemy and claims a kill. When combined with her own personal and Galeforce, it allows Peri to revitalize herself, gain extra bonuses and be able to attack more enemies during the player phase to take advantage of Bloodthirst. As Peri's magic growth is lackluster, it is best to avoid using magic if planning to keep her in this class; using Swords should be okay, however.

Base Set[]
Peri shares a lot of similarities to her original game, namely a lower emphasis on physical bulk in exchange for high Res which gives her an edge over most of her Blue Lance competition. With a solid offensive statline, Peri is very flexible option that is easy to obtain and merge on a budget. She is outclassed by some very potent competition for the same weapon-unit type combo or those who can do her role better.
She initially carried a Killer Lance, which was an average lance with a special cooldown acceleration effect, but this later received a boost thanks to Weapon Refinery which brought the Slaying Lance into her kit which gave her a better Mt, and thus better damage. Peri is among the many who are blessed to receive a preferred weapon, Peri's Lance, which is yet another upgraded version of her original native weapon with 16 Mt, thus bringing her neutral Atk to 49. Its refine not only boosts her HP by 3, but also gives her a +4 boost to her four core stats when she is under 100% at the start of combat. She needs to be missing at least 1 HP to receive this boost, but this can be addressed through certain skills mentioned below. With it active, Peri can reach some very potent levels of damage and tankiness, but it is all dependent on the player to draw out its benefits to the fullest.
Glimmer gives Peri a damage boost of 50% which she can achieve with her good Atk and Spd to charge quickly with her Lance and unleash it in a single round. Res +3 is a flat Res boost that can be replaced with better options as it provides a meaningful boost only during lower levels. Threaten Defense inflicts a -5 Def penalty on enemies within two spaces of her at the start of her turn, reducing the enemy's ability to survive her assaults.
Counters[]
Peri's got solid Res to resist most Mages and Dragons save for the most potent Green Mages and Dragons such as Nino, Soren, Fallen Male Robin, and Female Kana. Her physical bulk is on the lower side so most Blue and Green physical units can smash through her. Hector and other Axe Armors usually carry tremendous physical bulk and can take a hit and likely kill her with a single hit from countering her.
Skill Inheritance[]
Peri's skills are relatively consistent for some of her sets, mainly usage of Reposition to manipulate enemy positioning and either Luna or Moonbow to outright ignore part of the enemy's Def so she can dish out more damage. Her Res makes her an excellent Ploy user or otherwise using cavalry support skills gives her synergy on such teams.
Her Res is suitable to bait mages and counter with Distant Counter equipped. If she inherits Berkut's Lance, she gains a massive +7 Res when an enemy initiates on her, bringing her res to a potent 37 neutral Res. With a value of 40 with a Res refine and without factoring other potential skills, Peri can reach an astronomically high Res that practically makes her impervious to magic and dragons.
Her new preferred lance gives her an interesting combo set since they synergize off of Fury as the flat 3 boost to her core stats comes at the cost of slight recoil. Once she has taken this recoil, her refined lance grants her plus 4 to her core stats, thus Peri's neutral stat spread for her four core stats becomes 56/40/30/37, which is nearly up to the same level as an Armor unit would. Complete with Desperation which forces her follow-up immediately after her first attack, Peri has incredible damage output that can be achieved with careful planning and smart usage of Fury to get her set going

Etymology[]
In Persian and Armenian mythology, the Peri (Persian: پری pari) are exquisite, winged fairy-like spirits ranking between angels and evil spirits, which may reference her dual nature.
Pieri is an Italian surname that originated from the Tuscan name Piero, which is a variant of the name Pietro. However, in Romanian, Pieri means "to die".
Trivia[]
- From the My Room models, Peri has heterochromia iridum. Her left eye is pink while her right eye is green, which is normally hidden by her bangs. Peri shares this condition with Idunn from The Binding Blade, Ranulf from the Tellius duology, Alear from Engage, and Yashiro Tsurugi from Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE.
- Despite this, her in-game 3D head model displays her with two pink eyes. Whether this is a mistake in the model or if Peri's heterochromia was a later development after her model was finished is unclear.
- Peri was voted the 20th most popular female on Nintendo's official Fates character poll.
- In Fates, Peri shares her English voice actress, E.G. Daily, with Hinoka and Selkie.
- According to her profile, Peri's birthday is December 24 which is Christmas Eve.
- Reclassing Peri or meeting her in My Castle's Hot Spring shows that she shares the big breasted 3D model with Camilla, Charlotte, Kagero and Orochi.
- In Chapter 26 of Birthright, Peri will be promoted to a Great Knight, the secondary promotion of a Cavalier.
