It is associated with a number of game-freezing glitches, related to dealing damage before the enemy's [[HP]] has stopped decreasing. This can be achieved by activating Pierce on an enemy that cannot counter-attack and failing to kill the enemy, with the user able to attack a second time. If the first attack is a Pierce activated at range, the necessary damage to freeze the game is exactly 31. If it was a Pierce combined with a [[critical hit]] at range, the necessary damage to freeze is 36. Finally, if the attack was a melee Pierce+critical hit, 81 damage must be done. These glitches do not work if the battle animations are switched off.

Pierce is an ability seen with the promotion of either a Pegasus Knight or a Wyvern Rider into a Wyvern Knight in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. It is a randomly activated Skill which bypasses enemy defenses. Like most Skills, it activates at random, its success rate equal to the user's displayed Level.
