The Forrest Knight (フォレストナイト, also known as the Ranger in the western releases) is a class in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.

In Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, they are the promoted version of the Free Knight, and have more speed and skill than a Paladin.

In TearRing Saga, this class is known as Bow Rider (ボウライダー, translated Ranger in the fan translation) and is an enemy-only class.

In The Sacred Stones, it is one of the classes an Archer or a Mercenary can promote to, and can use Bows as well as swords. To promote an archer to that class, they must use the Orion's Bolt after they reach level ten. For mercenaries, the level condition remains the same but you must use a Hero Crest instead. A difference between the Ranger and Sniper is that a ranger is unable to mount ballistas.

Like all mounted units, Forrest Knights generally have great mobility, though may be slower than other mounts. Forrest Knights are noted for being the only mounted unit being able to navigate across water, which is something only a Berserker, Pirate, Thief, or flying unit would be able to do.

Trivia

  • This class shares its name with Ike's class from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, but they are unrelated. This is a 2nd Tier mounted class that can use Bows and Swords whereas the Ranger class from Path of Radiance is a 1st Tier unmounted lord class that only uses Swords.
