Rausten

Presentation of Rausten in the prologue

Rausten (ロストン聖教国, Sacred Country of Roston) in the Japanese version) is a nation on the continent of Magvel, which appears in the game Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. It is located in the northeast, north of its sister nation of Jehanna. The theocracy of Rausten is ruled by Mansel, the Divine Emperor. His heir is his niece L'Arachel, the troubadour.

Rausten is the only nation not to lose its Sacred Stone, which is used to defeat the Demon King and bring lasting peace to Magvel. Its stone was then moved to Renais. Its legendary sacred twin weapons are Ivaldi, an S rank light tome, and Latona, the S rank staff.

According to L'Arachel, the saintly Latona, Rausten's founder, was the only person known to have been able to resist being possessed by the Demon King.

Geography[]

Rausten is covered in dense forest and mountains. One of the tallest mountains in Rausten is called Mount Mimir, which is mentioned in L'Arachel's supports with Innes. Neleras Peak is a volcano in Rausten territory that the party passes through en route to Rausten Court. In the northern end of Rausten is Melkaen Coast, which connects to Carcino.

Military[]

The military capabilities of Rausten are difficult to ascertain, given the lateness in which Rausten was able to enter the war. Due to its geography, Grado needed to move through Jehanna or Carcino in order to attack the theocracy, and Rausten only entered the fray once the Grado Empire had reached both. However, Rausten seems to prefer lance wielders as its primary means of defense, the only soldiers from Rausten that appear in-game are Paladins, Cavaliers, Knights, and Generals, and Rangers, most of which can use lances to great effect.

The Knights of Rausten were able to aid in routing the Grado Empire at Hamill Canyon, and subsequently took the fight to the Grado forces in Jehanna. The capital of Rausten was later attacked after Grado's string of defeats at Grado Keep, Jehanna Hall, and Castle Renais, and it is almost certain that it would have fallen had it not been for the army of Princess Eirikia/Prince Ephraim. These events offer a mixed review of Rausten's performance during the War of the Stones, and Rausten was likely an overall weaker nation than Frelia.
