A Recruit was a Trainee class in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, meaning that they could become very skillful if you took the time to train them. They were Lance wielding trainee Soldiers who would promote to Knights or Cavaliers. The only Recruit in the game is Amelia.

The Recruit class is simalar to the soilder class, although soldier is not a playable class in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Like the other trainee classes of that game, Recruit can be upgraded to the Super Trainee class on the third and further playthroughs of the game.

A recruit can normally promote into either Knight or Cavalier, since Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones has a 'branched promotion' system. Amelia, the only Recruit, is promoted by most into a Knight, as there is already an abundance of mounted units in the game without her. You can promote her to a Super Recruit once you finish Erika's and Ephraim's story.
