Robin is a playable character in Fire Emblem Awakening and one of three main protagonists of the game. As an Avatar, their name and appearance are customizable by the player.

Profile

Prelude

In the original timeline, after Robin and Chrom defeat Validar at The Dragon's Table, Robin becomes possessed by Grima and kills Chrom. Robin's consciousness is completely taken over by Grima in this timeline, who uses their life force to channel his powers through their body. When Lucina and the other children attempt to escape to the past, Grima follows her to stop her. Upon returning to the present, Grima tried to fill the present Robin with his memories; however, Robin's body was not strong enough to retain the memories, weakening Grima's power. Robin developed amnesia as a result, however they save their name and their skill with war tactics. Because Grima poured his memories into Robin, they occasionally are flashed with their future version's memories from time to time, resulting in migraines.

Ylisse-Plegia War

At the beginning of the game, Robin is lying unconscious on a field, when they are rescued by Chrom's Shepherds. Despite losing their memory, Robin has great knowledge of fighting battles and serves as the troops' tactician. Leading Chrom and the Shepherds through a long campaign to protect Ylisse from the Plegians, Robin becomes Chrom's trusted advisor for war and ultimately leads to Chrom's victory over Gangrel.

If Female Robin marries Chrom, she will become the new Queen of Ylisse and give birth to Lucina two years later.

Conquest of Valm

Two years after Gangrel's defeat, Valm intends to invade Ylisse. Chrom and Robin decide to talk to the new king of Plegia who is none other than Validar, who was slain in Emmeryn's assassination attempt. Validar also introduces his hierophant, who looks exactly like Robin, and even introduces themselves by the same name. Nevertheless, Validar gives Chrom and Robin the necessary provisions to go to war. Later that night, a voice calls to Robin. Validar appears and reveals that Robin is the descendant of a long line of Grimleal leaders and the first one who had all the markings to become his vessel. However, overcome with emotions, Robin's mother took them from their crib and fled Plegia altogether. Before Validar can further try to sway Robin into joining him, he is forced to flee when Chrom arrives. Robin shakes off this event as a Risen ambush attacks Chrom's army. After nearly fending off all the Risen, one manages to warp in behind Chrom, but Marth suddenly enters the battlefield and saves him. After Marth reveals that she is Lucina, she shares a moment with Chrom, Robin and Lissa where she tells them about the future which she came from: a future where everyone in the army dies. If Lucina is the daughter of Robin, Lucina will share a tender reunion with her. Despite this new development, Chrom and Robin prepare to travel across Valm to stop Walhart. Occasionally Robin is stricken with migraines, but they ignore these headaches and focus on their goal. After a long campaign, Robin leads Chrom's army to victory over Walhart and the Valmese forces. By the end of the war, they had gathered four of the Emblem's five gemstones.

Fate of the World

After taking down Walhart, Chrom and Robin receive news that Validar is going to give them the final gemstone for the Fire Emblem, but Validar betrays Chrom and tries to take the Fire Emblem from Chrom. Robin, Chrom, and Lucina attempt to flee the castle, but right when they are about to escape, Validar warps in and attacks Chrom. Validar orders Robin to take the Fire Emblem from Chrom, which they do against their will, and gives it to Validar, who disappears after taking the Emblem. Later, Lucina decides to talk to Robin privately. After watching Validar control Robin, she deduces that Robin killed Chrom against their will. Lucina reluctantly decides to kill Robin to prevent this from happening, though they have the choice to accept her judgement or try to stop her. However, just as she is about to do this, Chrom stops her and tells her to trust in the bonds of the army, which she complies. Alternatively, if Lucina is married to Male Robin, regardless of his choice, she will not go through with it after he tells her to find someone to keep her happy when he's gone. If Robin is her mother, Lucina is conflicted and cannot bring herself to kill her own mother.

Before confronting Validar at The Dragon's Table, Robin makes Chrom promise to be ready to kill them, in case Validar controls them yet again, which Chrom reluctantly agrees to. Upon reaching Validar in The Dragon's Table, Validar reveals that Robin was born to be the vessel for the Fell Dragon Grima, because Robin possesses the Heart of Grima. Robin bears the Mark of Grima on their right hand, a symbol of their role as Grima's vessel. After defeating Validar, it appears that Robin is "possessed" by Grima yet again and "kills" Chrom. However this is a ruse, revealing that due to a Premonition, they knew what was going to happen, so they prepared countermeasures to prevent this. Robin managed to hold back on their power, saving Chrom from any fatal injuries. In the continuing battle, the duo proceeds to cut Validar down.

After the battle, a mysterious black figure warps in and takes on the appearance of Robin. They explain that they are the Grima and possessed Robin from Lucina's future. Robin questions Future Grima, asking if they are not yet the same. Taking that question as Robin's refusal to become Grima's vessel, Future Grima decides that it is not necessary, since they can perform the ritual again themselves, and proceeds to awaken the present Grima. As Chrom and Lucina flee the building, Robin quickly retrieves the Emblem themselves from Validar's corpse. With the Emblem in hand, the Shepherds depart to Mount Prism in order for Chrom to complete the Awakening Ritual to finish off Grima once and for all. Chrom completes the trial and unlocks the true power of the Falchion. Naga informs Chrom and Robin that the Falchion, even with her blessing, can only put him into a 1000 year slumber. The only way for Grima to die is for him to "be killed by his own hand." Naga points them to Origin Peak to confront Grima. Upon arriving at the peak, Robin realizes that, since they were meant to be Grima's vessel, they have the power to slay him. However, Naga warns them that if they do that, they will perish, too, since their heart is inexorably connected to Grima's. Chrom refuses to let Robin sacrifice themselves, but they still consider going through it.

The Shepherds get onto Grima's back, but are instantly struck by a spell that severely weakens the army. Grima gives Robin the choice to take the power of Grima or perish. Regardless of their choice, Grima pulls Robin into a dark void and tells them after merging that he will kill Chrom's army and severely weakens Robin. Out of ideas and hope, Robin lies in despair. However, a sound pierces the darkness: the voices of Chrom's army, telling them to stand back up and fight. To Grima's shock, Robin breaks free from the void and rejoins the Shepherds. After Naga fully heals the army from the Fell Dragon's magic, they proceed to face Grima.

Two endings will occur based on Robin's choice: slay Grima with their own hand or let Chrom finish Grima.

  • If Robin lets Chrom finish Grima, Grima goes back into a deep slumber, only to awaken at a later time in the distant future. While feeling guilty for only delaying Grima's destruction, Chrom assures them that the entire army agrees with their choice. Robin's family, if married, will console them and let them know that they made the right choice. Chrom reminds them that even in the future, humanity will be more than ready to face the Fell Dragon, much like they just did.
  • If Robin decides to slay Grima, they will use the Fell Dragon's own power against him. True to Naga's words, Grima's destruction also causes Robin to fade away. As the distraught army runs to Robin, they thank everyone for standing with them and pray that they will meet again in another life. The army is heartbroken but all express belief that Robin will return. While everyone returns to their homeland to rebuild, Chrom and Lissa travel the world in search of Robin. After an undisclosed period of time, Chrom and Lissa find Robin again in a field once more. As Robin awakens and are helped off the ground, the Brand of Grima no longer appears on their hand. Chrom welcomes his old friend back, letting them know that their ordeal is finally over.

For many years afterwards, many historians, poets, and bards did their best to recount Robin's deeds, though their history and personality was generally inconsistent. If Robin is married, the only thing these stories will agree on is their love for their spouse.

Xenologues 1-12

At the end of the first twelve Xenologues, one of the Heroes of legend will speak to Robin, asking questions about them before joining Chrom's army.

At the end of Xenologue 1: Champions of Yore 1, Marth will ask Robin if they have heard of him before. As the two converse, Marth will be reminded of a certain someone who became his lifelong friend. Marth then asks if Robin values victory over a comrade's life. If they agree, then Marth calls them a proper tactician. He does not look down upon such choices despite others that may view it as uncaring or cold, knowing that such choices are born from their own kind of "love." If not, Marth feels that they are a kind individual. Marth himself feels that the lives of his friends and comrades are just as important as victory itself. Feeling a special connection between Robin and himself, Marth asks to join their army, and promises to one day take them to Altea to meet all of his comrades.

At the end of Xenologue 2: Champions of Yore 2, Roy asks Robin if they like the world they live in. If they do, Roy will be eager to visit the world and wishes to know all of the good things about it from Robin. Eager to see it for himself, Roy asks to join the army. If they do not like their world, Roy is stunned to hear that, but supposes that war can make a world ugly. Nevertheless, despite the war that he was involved with, he never stopped loving his world. Roy promises to fight to return home one day, and hopes to bring Robin along with them.

At the end of Xenologue 3: Champions of Yore 3, Micaiah asks Robin if they would resort to underhanded strategies to save a friend. If they would, Micaiah laments that she has had to make those kinds of decisions and was ostracized by others as a result. Micaiah apologizes for talking about her problems to a stranger and wishes she had met someone like them. If she's told "no", Micaiah calls them a just person; but warns that such choices can cost them victory or, worse, their comrades' lives. However, she retracts her statement, knowing that she herself resorted to such choices and paid the price. She joins the Shepherds, and hopes that one day she can bring them to her country.

At the end of Xenologue 4: Lost Bloodlines 1, Leif, noticing the mark on Robin's hand, explains that in his world, such marks are the sign of people who wield godlike powers. He then asks Robin if they possess such power. If they answer "yes", Leif wonders what it must be like to bear such power. However, he is conflicted if he would want to bear such power, considering his father's legacy and the fact that his sister inherited the mark. If they answer "no", Leif wonders the source of Robin's talents, and asks them to tell him where their skill came from. Thankful for Robin's insight, Leif asks to join the Shepherds so that he too can become stronger.

At the end of Xenologue 5: Lost Bloodlines 2, Robin will ask Alm about his Dread Fighter garb and hear about the ruthless nature in Alm's world. He asks Robin if they have compassion for their enemies. If they answer "yes", Alm, slightly surprised, expresses hope that one day, he can see the world like they do. If they answer "no", he agrees, saying that it is impossible not to fight your enemies when they have wronged you. Noting how easy he feels to talk to them, Alm asks to join the Shepherds, willing to aid Chrom's cause.

At the end of Xenologue 6: Lost Bloodlines 3, Seliph asks about Robin's Brand on their hand. Seliph asks because of his own Brand - one that cursed him with his father's death, a war with his half-brother, and a host of other tragedies. Seliph will ask Robin if they would cast their Brand away if they could. If they would, Seliph feels that Robin lives a free life and wonders if he too could have cast away his Brand. If they wouldn't, Seliph will be glad to know that they think the same way. Thanking them for their time, Seliph offers to aid the Shepherds whenever they need it.

At the end of Xenologue 7: Smash Brethren 1, Elincia feels bad that she and her forces attacked them, noting that she should have listened to her heart at the beginning of the battle. Elincia asks if Robin if they serve a flawless ruler. If they answer "yes", Elincia will express jealousy, as she often doubts her actions as a queen by birthright. If they answer "no", Elincia will be surprised, even though she admits that all rulers cannot be perfect. Elincia asks them to tell her more about the leaders of their world to help her become a better queen for her kingdom. Grateful for their insight, Elincia asks to join the Shepherds in exchange for their wisdom.

At the end of Xenologue 8: Smash Brethren 2, Eirika will initially become flustered when her intentions of joining the army is misinterpreted as a marriage proposal by Robin (due to her Bride outfit). Eirika will tell her story of a friend who sought her help, yet was not the same person she once knew. She asks Robin if they would still trust a friend even if they were trying to trick you. If they answer "yes", Eirika will warn them that they will be duped and deceived, but is happy to know that there is someone as trusting as her. If they answer "no", Eirika will be surprised, but knows that Robin is being wise and honest. She asks for their help so she too can see through other's lies. At the end of the conversation, Eirika will be happy to have met Robin and joins the Shepherds.

At the end of Xenologue 9: Smash Brethren 3, Lyn thinks that Robin is the same Tactician from her previous adventures, adding if they've ever awoken in a strange place. Regardless of Robin's answer, Lyn is still certain that they are the same individual. She then tells them about meeting her on the Sacae Plains and fighting with Eliwood and Hector, asking if they remember all of that. If they answer "no", Lyn will express slight disappointment, but she still asks to join the army to help them, and see for herself if they are "her" Tactician or not. If they answer "yes", then she will join without question, saying she is happy that they have been reunited and promises to bring them back to Lycia to meet everyone again. In the meantime, Lyn pledges her blade for them, just like before.

At the end of Xenologue 10: Rogues & Redeemers 1, Ephraim asks about the warriors faced during Robin's travels. He asks if Robin enjoys fighting sometimes just for the sake of fighting itself. If they answer "yes", Ephraim sensed that they felt that way from their tactics in the previous battle. Since they share the same view, Ephraim asks to spar for a bit and asks to join the army afterwards, seeing Robin as a new rival. If they answer "no", Ephraim figures that because they are Mark, they must treat each fight impassively. Ephraim is interested in learning battle strategy for his future role as king of his kingdom, and joins the army to learn from Robin for his future battles.

Headline text

At the end of Xenologue 11: Rogues & Redeemers 2, Celica speaks of Mila, who has the power to resurrect only a select number of people. Celica asks if Robin would resurrect a loved one if they could. If "yes", Celica will lament for her fallen comrades during her travels and wished that she could have revived them, even though it went against the laws of nature. She sympathizes with Robin, asking if they perhaps have lost someone dear to them. She offers to lend her ear and services to Robin if they need her. If they answered “no”, Celica will be a bit surprised, but commends them on having such a strong character, since most would give in to the opportunity when given. Choosing to move on from loss, she feels like Robin are a virtuous and pious figure. Intrigued of how they live their life this way, Celica then asks to join the Shepherds' cause.

At the end of Xenologue 12: Rogues & Redeemers 3, Ike commends Robin for their tactics and the army overall for their strength. Ike asks Robin if the source of their power comes from the bonds they share with each other. If they answer "yes", Ike is left impressed, saying that the army moved as if it was one being, something that Marth had taught him during the battle. As thanks for this insight, he offers his mercenary services, free of charge, in exchange for the wisdom he received from Robin. If they answer "no," Ike is a bit surprised, but he acknowledges that he too does things that way. Ike feels that he is not the leader, despite having led both a mercenary group and an army twice. Feeling that the two are in sync, Ike offers to join the Shepherds.

Future Past

Grima arrives in Ylisstol just as Severa, Laurent, and Gerome return to give Lucina the Fire Emblem. After nearly killing the children, Naga sends in Chrom and his army to protect them. After nearly killing Grima themselves, Chrom and his army are warped back to their world by an unseen force. It turns out that the Future Past Robin used the last of their strength and consciousness to return Chrom and his army so that they will not kill him again. Though Grima is pleased to know that their one chance at stopping him is gone, the 8 remaining children arrive in Ylisstol with the Gemstones in hand. Lucina performs the Awakening and unlocks the Falchion. Grima tries his best to kill Lucina, but Robin's will prevents him from moving, allowing Lucina to land a decisive blow and kill Grima. With the Robin's final breath, they thank Lucina for ending all of the suffering they caused and apologize to Morgan for putting them through all of their suffering too.

Six months later, the 12 children meet once more in the new peaceful future. Lucina looks to the sky and wonders if her father can see the peace they have won. Chrom in the afterlife agrees that the world is as it should be and asks the Robin if they agree. Robin simply smiles and agrees, now that they are at peace from the Fell Dragon's grip.

Alternatively, if some of the children died, Grima will attempt to kill Chrom and his army, but Robin manages to take back control of their body and teleports them back to Naga. Afterwards, Robin, still in possession of their body, will tell Lucina how helpess they had been, killing her father, the majority of humanity and killing her friends that she sent to find the gemstones. They tell her that because they are weakened, they can speak their mind fully, and despite Lucina's protests to free the good part of them, they refuse, stating that they and Grima are one. They tell her to complete the Awakening so they can finally die, and leave due to their wounds to go to their slumber.

Fire Emblem Fates

Male Robin makes an appearance in Fates and requires his amiibo to be playable. His appearance has him waking up in My Castle, wondering what happened to him. He thanks the Fates Corrin for waking him and introduces himself to them. He nods about his experiences in Super Smash Bros, wondering if he was "launching the other fighters" or if he was being launched himself, but is unable to remember. He expresses his embarrassment for being found in a daze for the second time and asks for Corrin's name, afterwards stating it's a name he'll make sure to remember. To express his gratitude, he offers Corrin two accessories; his own collection of Books (which Robin likes to use for formulating strategies) and a Dragon Feather, which he does not remember owning. After the player chooses one, Robin wonder if the two of them lead similar existences, then he says that he wishes to leave to study various strategies and new things about the world he found himself in.

During his second appearance, he tells Corrin that everyone in their army speaks highly of them as a master strategist, not only as a tactician but as royalty too. He then challenges them to fight him in a battle of tactics and tells them not to rush until they come up with a good plan. Before the battle, Robin states that he has thought of numerous strategies for their fight and has become very excited in the process. He recalls the world of Super Smash Bros, a world where physical strength triumphed over tactics, and he is looking forward to the tactics Corrin will use on him. If Owain, Inigo, and Severa have been recruited, a special dialogue between Robin and the three can occur whenever each of the children face him in battle. The three children will seemingly recognize Robin based on his clothing, before most of the children believe he is not Chrom's Tactician, with Selena outright chiding him for being an impostor; seemingly indicating he is indeed not the same tactician from Awakening, but rather a facsimile from the world of Super Smash Bros., as the children seem to say the same about the Amiibo Lucina.

After the battle, Robin remarks on Corrin's skills and as he wonders if the two of them lead similar experiences, he also says that they have surpassed him as well. As a result, he requests to join Corrin's party, stating that he wishes for the two of them to learn from each other and that he is also a capable fighter as well. Corrin agrees and wishes for everyone to fight together alongside Robin. Robin thanks them as he recalls a distant, happy memory of him fighting alongside his own group of allies, hinting at his role in Awakening. Robin is then made into a playable character and joins Robin's army for the duration of the story.

Personality

Robin's history is shrouded in mystery, making them the greatest enigma of the Shepherds. Despite this, Robin's skill in war tactics is unparalleled, allowing them to guide Chrom's army to victory over opposing forces greater in number and possibly even experience. They are highly ingenious, creating strategies on the fly and even whipping up "crazy" plans or new war tactics out of pure inspiration. Because of their strategic mindset, Robin is highly perceptive to the others' feelings, and can figure out the source of most people's inner turmoils in a matter of a few important conversations. Tiki notes that Robin is surprisingly similar to Marth, due to their charismatic nature and ability to befriend everyone they meet.

Robin is an avid reader of books. They have a penchant for history, but they're also a fan of reading novels as well. While friendly, they have a tendency of getting exasperated over the antics of some of the more colorful cast members. They generally care about the well being of everyone in army, and not just Chrom. For instance, Male Robin is deeply concerned about Basilio's well being when the latter admits to venturing outside of the castle walls alone. Though modest to a fault, they are somewhat prideful of their tactical abilities. When Virion repeatedly bests them in a strategy board game, Robin is absolutely dejected and then suggests that Virion should be the one to lead the army. They firmly believe in the concept of forming bonds within the army, believing that these bonds make them stronger than if they were to fight separately.

Outside of battle though, Robin is actually very self-conscious: They often feel insecure about their cooking skills, some of the romances have them feel inadequate compared to other love interests, and even in Paralogue 22, after having guided the Shepherds through countless battles, they still reflect on whether they belong with Chrom and his fellow Shepherds.

When it is later revealed that Robin was born with the intention of becoming the vessel for Grima himself, they become incredibly conflicted and lost, wondering if they are to be trusted any more. However, through the bonds they forged with Chrom and the Shepherds helps them realize that they are not controlled by that destiny, thus allowing them to avert the tragic fate of the world.

Other parts of their personality though are dependent on the player: They can either be incredibly self-sacrificing or someone who strives to stay alive for others' sakes depending on choices at key points in the story.

Max Stat Modifiers

Robin's max stat modifiers depends upon their selection of what the player chose as their asset and flaw stats. The stat chosen as their asset will boost that stat and several others. The stat chosen as their flaw will drop that stat's max stat cap along with several others. HP will not have a higher or lower cap if that is their asset or flaw.

Support

Robin is unique, as they can support with every character in the game, including characters like Aversa or Walhart who cannot form any other supports with other characters. Robin can also marry (S-Support) with any opposite gender character, including characters that cannot marry other characters and children characters (except Morgan). Female Robins can be Lucina's potential mother. Male Robins can be the potential father of all other children. Regardless of gender, a married Robin will produce Morgan, whose gender is opposite of Robin's.

Class Sets

Overall

Base Class

Robin, like Chrom, is one of the most important characters, and falling in battle results in a Game Over. However, unlike Chrom, Robin is not mandatory for chapter battles except for the Premonition, Prologue, and Chapters 1, 2, and 23. It is imperative that Robin be in a Pair Up at all times due to Veteran, which will result in quicker level ups and makes class and skill grinding much faster. The effects of Veteran are so pronounced that, even in Lunatic Mode, Robin can easily surpass the enemy army and quickly establish an insurmountable statistical lead that persists all the way until roughly Chapter 19.

Evaluating Robin's performance is a bit tricky, since every player will choose a unique combination of asset and flaw stats, though with ample training they will become a capable unit regardless of the asset and flaw chosen. Nevertheless, Mark class has near flat stats across the board without factoring in asset and flaws, making them perfectly good taskmasters, allowing them to fill roles during battles when they are needed. Offensively, they have access to both Swords and Tomes, allowing them to exploit enemy defensive stat weaknesses. However, despite using tomes, they are not considered Mage units and have movement penalties on sand maps.

As a Grandmaster, Robin becomes a much stronger and more formidable unit, and should be their base class. They gain the ability to use Ignis, which is an very useful combat skill because of Robin's fair Strength and Magic caps of around 40 for each. With its high activation rate, on top of the Grandmaster's ability to use Swords and Tomes, Robin can inflict massive damage. Robin also has one of the best Rally skills, Rally Spectrum, making them a very capable unit for Rally/defensive play given that they collect other Rally skills from other classes, resulting in a very formidable rally unit. Again, like in their base class, a Grandmaster Robin is a perfect taskmaster, and can get any job done effectively with the right set of skills. However, if looking for a more specialized role for Robin, it is best to venture into another class.

Reclassing

Robin has the ability to reclass into all regular classes that their gender permits, allowing players to explore different classes and potentially leave Robin outside of their Tactician class. With their wide class pool, this also means that they can learn a huge variety of skills to suit the player's play style. With this, Robin can make a completely unique build of skills for certain classes that no other unit in the game can achieve, except for SpotPass, DLC characters, and Morgan and their siblings who can also be possibly more versatile in skills than even Robin depending on who they marry or what Robin chooses to pass down.

Due to the fact that Robin has the ability to reclass into almost all of the classes and gain almost all skills, they are regarded as one of the best units in the game because they can serve the role of a taskmaster to suit the player's style. The player can freely customize their Robin to become what ever they wish from a support unit, an offensive unit, and even a Rally unit.

Inheritance

Robin, due to their ability to marry all characters, can have multiple children. Regardless of gender they will always have Morgan as their child and they inherit Robin's ability to reclass into all gender appropriate classes. Should Robin form an S-Support with another character with a child character of their own, that child will also inherit the ability to reclass into all gender appropriate classes.

It is recommended that Female Robin pass down Galeforce to Morgan because of the skill's extreme usefulness for map clearing, and for its exclusiveness to females. Dual Support+ is another useful pass down if Female Robin's spouse is a child character that has Galeforce. For Lucina, it does not matter what skill is passed down to her since Lucina can reclass into all of Robin's classes, though Veteran is a great starting skill for her to inherit to boost her ability to level up and will be a guaranteed skill in Robin's skill pool when Lucina is mandatorily recruited.

Male Robin should pass down any skill learned from the Fighter or Barbarian lines to Morgan or their other daughters since these classes will not be inherited. There is no skill that is 100% recommended, though usually Counter and Axefaire are considered the best from the set. However, one can also have Male Robin pass down Rally Strength, which would allow his daughter(s) to be able to possess every Rally Skill in the game, making them perfect Rally Support units. Nevertheless, the skills passed down should be to improve Morgan and her sisters or to suit the player's tastes. As with Lucina, the skill Male Robin's sons inherit do not matter since they will be able to reclass into all of his classes anyways. Given that all of Male Robin's children can be recruited at anytime after Chapter 13, Male Robin can pass down whatever skill they player wants to his sons at any point.

Base Set

Male Robin possesses one of the most unusual stats for Tome users, as his Atk, Spd, and Def all sit at a 29 average at 5-Star and only his Res training behind at 22. His Def in particular is surprisingly bulky for a Mage and is easily one of the highest for one. While a jack-of-all-trades, he does not standout in any particular role other than to be an anti-meta unit to counter specific units. Most notably is his Blárraven tome which deals advantageous damage against colorless units, which does allow him to combat the likes of Brave Lyn with help from his decent Def. He later received Tactical Bolt, which maintains a Blárraven effect, but with more Atk and a Refine that essentially gives him a Rainbow Tactics effect, boosting his allies stats who are near him.

His naturally high Def compliments his innate Special Skill Bonfire. Defiant Speed boosts his speed when low on health, but he does not possess the bulk to utilize it or the Speed to make it very meaningful. Spur Defense gives help to allies and is a decent Skill C for him to maintain.

Overall, Male Robin serves as an anti-meta unit as his double color advantage is a unique feature that he has maintained since the beginning.

Counters

Robin does not particularly struggle in just his normal form, but at the same time, he does not excel against most. Standard weaknesses for Robin would be a majority of the Green units in the meta, especially those packing Distant Counter. Many common Blue and Green Mages also easily counter him including Reinhardt, L'Arachel, Nino, Summer Elise, and Gunnthrá. Robin's main niche is to utilize his color advantage against colorless so any colorless unit running Cancel Affinity removes that specialty. Finally Fae and Fallen Male Robin can easily take care of him with their huge bulk and adtantages.

Skill Inheritance Options
Male Robin is best suited purely to be an anti-meta unit and can operate well as a baiting unit in the enemy phase against any non-green unit. His well-roundedness limits his overall effectiveness, but if enhanced, he can serve the role as a competent counterpick. Reposition and Draw Back are two useful Support skills that he can use to success while he synergizes with his team. Triangle Adept gives him a tremendous boost to his Weapon Advantage damage and can stop the likes of Brave Lyn and most Dazzling Staff Colorless like Maribelle and Brave Veronica, reducing their damage and returning the favor on their turn. Quick Riposte helps to address his poor speed and allow him to score additional attacks when baiting target units. Finally a supportive Drive skills will stack on top of the Tactical Bolt refine, making these a solid choice for his Skill C.

Base Set

As the first Armored Dragon unit, Fallen Robin emerges as a powerful unit; he possesses exceptional physical and magical bulk and an outstanding ATK stat, being tied with units such as Effie and Winter Chrom for the highest attack in the game. This power is coupled with his personal Breath weapon Expiration, which serves as an upgraded version of Lightning Breath; with the ability to counter regardless of distance and target the lower of a ranged units's defense and resistance without a Special cooldown penalty, Fallen Robin serves as a very powerful counter to ranged units such as bow units and mages. Fallen Robin is also the first permanent unit to have Vengeful Fighter, which guarantees him a follow-up attack and a Special cooldown charge during the enemy phase, and is extremely helpful for charging Specials such as his default Ignis, which scales off his high DEF for massive damage. Fallen Robin also possesses Ward Dragons, which provides extra DEF and RES to dragon units within two spaces, which can be very beneficial. Finally, as an Armored Dragon Fallen Robin can take advantage of Armor and Dragon buffs.

Counters

Robin's greatest weakness stems from being an Armored Dragon: he possesses the poor mobility of Armored units, and possesses a weakness to armor-effective weapons such as Armorslayer and dragon-effective weapons such as Naga and Falchion, with the latter being extremely effective due to its inherent color advantage, making Marth, Chrom, Lucina, and Alm very hard counters. Robin's lowest stat is his SPD, which while unimportant while running Vengeful Fighter, makes him easily doubled.

Skill Inheritance

With Skill Inheritance, Robin can easily become one of the most fearsome dual phase units in the game. For an Assist skill, Swap or Reposition can help him give more mobility and somewhat alleviate his poor mobility. For his Special, Bonfire can replace Ignis for faster cooldown at the cost of lower scaling, or Aether can provide substantial healing at the cost of longer cooldown. His best A skill is Steady/Warding Breath, as it allows him to build up his Special quickly in the Enemy Phase, but a budget option such as Svalinn's Shield can help negate his armor weakness. Bold Fighter is undeniably his best B skill, as it guarantees him a follow-up attack in the player phase while charging his Special. Finally, Armor March allows him to move an additional space when adjacent to an armored ally, making the skill invaluable in armored teams.

Base Set

Female Robin is essentially a Green version of Male Robin, having an average of 29 for all stats save her 22 Res. She packs Gronnwolf, allowing her to be an anti-cavalry unit, especially when refined to Keen Gronnwolf to negate cavalry bonuses on top of the effective damage to counter the likes of Reinhardt and Brave Lyn. She would later receive a new weapon, Tactical Gale, further pushed her into the role of a Green version of Male Robin since she now has a stronger Gronnraven tome with a Rainbow Tactic effect refine, thus making her a great supportive unit while countering two color types.

She has Ignis which is slow, but works from her serviceable Defense, Defiant Resistance, patching her low Resistance when lower on health, and B Tomebreaker, stealing any blue mages attempts at follow ups while she uses it.

As a carbon copy of Male Robin, she is an anti-meta unit who excells against two colors. However, she cannot be stat adjusted with a Boon or a Bane like her main counterpart can, which is a small disadvantage, but she still can work with her flexible base as is.

Counters

She is countered by the likes of any Red unit, especially when running against the common threats seen in the Arenas. Whether they are offensive or defensive counters, Female Robin will struggle against the likes of those units. While she can counter all Colorless units, she loses that advantage if they run Cancel Affinity which do appear on some units, but not always as that is usually a predictive set up on their part, not yours.

Skill Inheritance Options

Overall

Base Set

Legendary Robin is the 5th Legendary Hero introduced to Heroes and carries the distinction of being the first colorless breath user. Unlike her male Fallen counterpart, Legendary Robin is a flying unit and trades raw power for a balanced spread. Also, due to her colorless weapon, she is not subject to the Weapon Triangle, which is both a benefit and a detriment to her offensive ability. While she is a Flying unit, she wields Dragonskin which negates her flying weakness while also providing Def/Res when attacked. Cancel Affinity removes the weapon advantage damage from Raven tomes. Resistance Smoke reduces the Resistance of enemies within two spaces of her by 7, leading to more powerful attacks from her. Overall, Legendary Robin a powerful unit, especially when on a Flying Team where she can enjoy the boosts from their skills and can help more on that team rather than on a Dragon Team.

Counters

As a Breath user, Legendary Robin is extremely vulnerable to breath effective weapons such as the plethora of Falchion users and Julia and Deirdre's Naga tomes. While she has Cancel Affinity in her base kit, many of her preferred sets do not run the skill, making her vulnerable to Raven tomes. Finally, many Dazzling Staff and Firesweep weapons negate her counterattack ability.

Skill Inheritance
Legendary Robin requires very little outside inheritance from her base kit, making her a very affordable unit to build. Lacking a Support skill, Reposition or Draw Back works well with her flying nature. Bonfire serves her well, though Moonbow is a good alternative for defense stat shaving when attacking high defense characters. Her Slot B skill is best replaced with Quick Riposte as she operates best as a counter unit and even though she has respecatble speed, Quick Riposte will ensure the double attack against the fastest units.

Robin from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U

Robin (Reflet in the Japanese version and Daraen in Spanish, French, German and Italian versions), as well as their default appearances in Awakening, is a newcomer character in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. David Vincent and Yoshimasa Hosoya reprise their roles as Male Robin while Lauren Landa and Miyuki Sawashiro reprise their roles as Female Robin in all appearances.

Like in Fire Emblem Awakening, Robin fights with various tomes and normally wields a Bronze Sword at the beginning of a match. Robin will change their Bronze Sword into a Levin Sword whenever they perform a Smash attack or an air attack. The Levin Sword has stronger hits and has an electrical effect. However, as an allusion to the Weapon Durability, the Levin Sword will "break" after 8 attacks regardless if they hit an opponent or not. Once it breaks Robin will reequip their Bronze Sword. The player will have to wait 6 seconds before Robin will equip a new Levin Sword after each time it breaks. Their tomes are allocated to a special move input and the last used Special Move will change Robin's currently equipped tome, however this is merely an aesthetic. However, each tome has durability points as well and will break after a set amount of uses. Once broken, Robin will have to wait a set amount of time before they will equip a new tome, meaning that they will temporarily not have access to that special move until they can acquire a replacement. Once either Robin's Levin Sword or his various tomes run out of usage, they will automatically discard it behind them and they will disappear after a second after it bounces off the ground. It is possible to grab them before the vanish and the discarded Sword or Tome will become a single hit throwing projectile.

Robin returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As with Smash 4, Robin is playable in both their default Male and Female appearances. As an added update, their health gauge now displays a Weapon Durability meter to show how many usages their Levin Sword and individual tomes have before they are discarded.


Special Moveset

  • Regular Special: Thunder: Thunder is a chargeable special move and the properties of the attack will change the longer it is charged. The charge can be stored for later use with the shield button. Thunder has a total of 20 durability points, however each version of Thunder uses a different amount of points. Robin can still use different forms of Thunder even if there are not enough durability points to use it. For example, if Robin attacks twice with Thoron, they can still fire one more Thoron with the same potency as the first two, but the tome will still break after without any penalty to the recovery period of the tome. After discarding the book, it will regenerate after 10 seconds, regardless of what version of this attack is used.
    • Thunder: With no charge, Robin fires a short-ranged, small orb of electricity that does minor damage and staggers the opponent. Thunder uses 1 durability point. If there is no aura around Robin in Smash 4 or the aura around them is blue in Ultimate, this will be the move they will use.
    • Elthunder: Charging for a short period will change the move to a slightly larger and faster ball of electricity that also travels slightly farther. Elthunder uses 3 durability points. If an aura is around Robin in Smash 4 or the aura turns yellow in Ultimate, this will be the move they will use.
    • Arcthunder: Charging it even longer until the electrical aura around Robin turns red increases in both Smash 4 and Ultimate adds even more range and speed, though there a slight delay upon cast. If the move connects, the enemy is temporarily trapped and damaged by the spell. This move uses 5 durability points.
    • Thoron: At full charge the attack manifests as a fast and powerful horizontal bolt of lightning that can hit multiple enemies. Thoron uses 8 durability points.
      • Custom Standard Special 1: Thunder+: Thunder+ and its variations deal increased damage and has higher knockback and has the same general effect attached to their base form. Each move consumes more durability points and takes longer to charge each stage than its base form. It also has less durability points, only having 10.
        • Thunder+ will use 1 point of durability
        • Elthunder+ will use 2.5 points of durability
        • Arcthunder+ will use 4.5 points of durability
        • Thoron+ will use 10 points of durability.
      • Custom Standard Special 2: Speed Thunder: Speed Thunder charges quicker than its standard version but has less knockback and decreased damage. Each move consumes the same amount of Durability points as the base form.
  • Side Special: Arcfire: Robin launches a fireball with a descending diagonal trajectory from above. Regardless if it connects with an enemy or the ground, it creates a pillar of fire similar to Ness' PK Fire. By holding the A button at the end of Robin's standard combo, the combo will end with a small condensed explosion and will consume an Arcfire durability point. Arcfire can be used 6 times before it runs out of usage. After discarding the book, it will regenerate after 10 seconds. Robin's attack animation is a reference to the casting pose of mages from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, The Blazing Blade, and Sacred Stones.
    • Custom Side Special 1: Arcfire+: This version launches a large fireball that explodes when it makes contact with the ground or an enemy.
    • Custom Side Special 2: Fire Wall: Fire Wall causes the Arcfire flame to launch vertically downward in front of Robin and will only activate once it hits the ground and will not hit any enemy characters until then. However the pillar lasts longer than the base form.
  • Up Special: Elwind: Robin creates a blade of wind and launches it below them. The blades of wind will damage any enemy that comes in contact and will push them downward while launching Robin upward. Robin can launch a total of two Elwind blades before they are forced into a helpless state. In Smash 4 these blades were launched straight downward while in Ultimate the wind blade can be angled, changing the direction they move. Elwind can be used 9 times before it runs out of usage. After discarding the book, it will regenerate after 5 seconds. By mashing the "A" Button at then end Robin's standard combo, they will use one Elwind durability point to end their standard combo with a series of wind blades that end with a strong hit.
    • Custom Up Special 1: Soaring Elwind: Robin fires a single blade of wind below them that gives them great vertical height but almost no horizontal.
    • Custom Up Special 2: Gliding Elwind: Robin fires an Elwind blade with diagonally behind them, propelling them in the opposite direction. At the apex of their ascension, they can fire one more blade directly below them, however the second does not propel them further.
  • Down Special: Nosferatu: Robin traps an enemy that is within one character length of them. The move will heal Robin a small portion of their health if it connects. It is more effective if used on an enemy from behind. It can deal up to 25% damage and will heal Robin up to 20% if used at the front of the enemy while attacking from behind will heal up to 25%. Nosferatu is a Grab move and can grab a shielding opponent as well as grab in the air. Nosferatu can be used 4 times before it runs out of usage. After discarding the book, it will regenerate after 35 seconds.
    • Custom Down Special 1: Distant Nosferatu: Robin hits an enemy at exactly three character lengths in front of them, but the damage and healing are much less potent.
    • Custom Down Special 2: Goetia: Goetia has a wider area and slightly draws enemies near by the the spell towards the center. It deals increased damage from the base form, however it does not have the healing effect.
  • Final Smash: Pair Up: Pair Up is Robin's Final Smash. Robin summons Chrom onto the stage and Chrom quickly rushes about the quarter of the distance of Final Destination directly in front of Robin. If the move connects, Chrom's Critical/Skill cut-in will flash on the screen and all enemies that Chrom connected with are launched into the air and left in a helpless state. The duo will then team up against the target(s) with Chrom attacking multiple times with his Falchion while Robin casts a barrage of spells. The ending of the move has Chrom and Robin, equipped with a Bolganone, spiking the enemy to the ground. If Pair Up connects, Robin's Levin Sword and Tomes will return to full durability.

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. is compatible with four amiibo figures of specific Fire Emblem characters, Robin included. When scanned, a S.T.E.A.M. version of Robin will appear in game, allowing him to be used as a playable unit. Robin can use a tome that launches fireballs at distant enemies and also wields a Levin Sword for short-range area attack that stuns enemies. His Special is a Thoron tome that launches a blast that goes through all enemies standing in its path.

Robin This young tactician has an aura of mystery, though, to be fair, everyone looks more mysterious in a robe. Robin's strategic acumen is matched only by a (unique?) ability to use a book to conjure fire and lightning. We are blessed to have such a soldier.
Milton on Robin Even among all the extraordinary members of S.T.E.A.M., having an actual sorcerer aboard feels uncanny and off-putting. Intriguingly, Robin firmly rejects this title, saying something about the wrong "class". Somehow I don't think we're using the word in the same way...

Female Robin

Robin's already relatively low number of cards in Cipher is then split in two groups, one for Male Robin and one for Female Robin, making it difficult to use either Robin as a Main Character due to the difficulty of drawing the Promoted versions you will need for late-game plays. Female Robin has four cards, two from Series 1 and two from Series 8. Her S1 Cost 1 card gains 10 ATK as long as you have fewer Orbs than your opponent, and wields Mark's Support Emblem, allowing you to move an enemy Unit if your attacking Unit was also a Blue card. Her S8 Cost 1, meanwhile, gains 10 ATK for the turn the first time you lose an Orb, making it just a little harder for your opponent to take multiple Orbs in the same turn with Female Robin as your MC. This Female Robin also uses the Emblem of Destiny, allowing you to draw one card and then place one card from your hand on top of the deck if your attacking Unit was also Blue, a useful Support Skill in monocolor Blue decks considering that most Robin cards have some variation of adding the top card of your deck to the Orb Area. Female Robin's S1 4/3 card has a Skill allowing you to move an enemy Unit whenever you Class-Change a Unit, which is helpful alongside supporting Units that Class-Change other Units with Skills like Tiki, Chrom, or even Elincia for Blue-Green decks. She also carries a Skill allowing you to add the top card of your deck to your Orb Area if you have fewer Orbs than your opponent, however, this Skill is less useful than the Orb-adding Skills of the Male Robin cards as it is a CCS, requiring Female Robin to be Class-Changed to activate, and also requires you to Flip 3 Bonds, the general cost for most Rally Skills on Lord-Class characters in Cipher such as Marth or Chrom. Female Robin's S8 4/3 card is perhaps the most useful of her set, allowing you to look at all of your Orbs at any time during your Action Phase, destroy one of your Orbs once per turn to add a card from the Bond Area to the Orb Area, and Flip 1 Bond once a turn to draw 2 cards and discard 2 cards, making her a useful toolbox-style card that can easily set up for Tiki's Class-Change-from-hand or Chrom's Class-Change-from-Retreat Skills and then add the flipped Bond to the Orb Area, making it less crippling to Bond a copy of your MC as you can add it to your Orbs later.

Male Robin

Male Robin has received one less card than Female Robin, with three cards instead of four. His Promotional Cost 2 card is very simple, allowing you to add the top card of your deck to your Orb Area when he is Deployed as long as you have fewer Orbs than your opponent. His Cost 1 HN card allows you to add the top card of your Deck to your Orb Area if you have fewer Orbs and he was sent to the Retreat from your hand or Deck by your opponent's Skills, making him a decent way to make decks focusing on making you discard cards think twice. His 4/3 SR card allows you to give a small boost in attack to all your Units for a turn along with Robin's signature adding cards to the Orb Area as long as you're behind on Orbs, only this one adds a card from your hand, allowing you to add a copy of your Main Character to keep it from being discarded by an opponent's Skill. This Rally Skill is also less costly than almost all other Rally Skills in the TCG, with only Ike carrying a cheaper Rally. His other ability lets you Destroy one Orb when he defeats an enemy in battle to add one card from your hand to the Orb Area. This Skill is unique among Robin's many Orb-adding Skills in that you do not have to be behind on Orbs, you just need to have at least one already there, again a useful Skill for keeping your opponent from discarding copies of your Main Character.

Overall, Robin fills an interesting and useful niche in Cipher with his/her Orb regeneration, but probably would have been better if they hadn't split the cards into separate Male and Female categories, instead having cards featuring both Robins on them.

Robin's default English name, Robin, can mean bright, famous, and smart. This may refer to their gift for strategy. It is an androgynous name, likely chosen because the player can choose to create a male or female Avatar. "Robin" originated as a diminutive of "Robert". Another possible meaning for Robin is the species of bird. The default Japanese name, Reflet, is French for reflection, presumably in reference to how Robin is intended to "reflect" the player. The default non-english European name, Daraen is the anagram of the Italian name "Andrea", a name that can be used for male or female.

  • With 2 genders, 3 heights, 5 unique face styles for each body type, 5 hairstyles, and 20 possible hair colors, Robin has a whopping 3000 possible appearances. This makes them the second most customizable character in terms of appearances.
  • The battle models for all Outrealm characters, except for Marth, are created from Robin customization parts.
  • In the Japanese Version, Robin had the option to have no voice at all. In game dialogue involving Robin would be written as ellipses ( "..." "...!", etc.), and the rest of the script was rewritten to accommodate. This was removed in the international release.
    • SpotPass and StreetPass characters use ellipses during Level Up and certain Event Tile quotes, except for item finding ones.
  • Robin placed 2nd in the female and 3rd in the male category for the Fire Emblem Awakening Character Popularity Polls in Japan.
    • Male Robin came in 8th for males in the Fire Emblem Heroes Choose Your Legends popularity poll, he had 14,149 total votes. Female Robin came in 11th for females and had 10,387 total votes.
  • The sleeves of Robin's Tactician and Grandmaster outfits have eyes that resemble those found on the Mark of Grima and the same markings on Validar's pants, further hinting at their connection.
  • Yoshimasa Hosoya and Miyuki Sawashiro, the voices for the Male and Female Robin respectively in the Japanese version also voices male and female Morgan respectively.
  • Male Robin has the highest number of support conversations in Awakening with 59 different supports (47 regular/romantic and 12 children conversations).
  • Rhajat's dialogue in the Japanese version ofFire Emblem Fates "implies" that Robin is reincarnation of Corrin in her support with Corrin.
  • Female Robin is the only character whose hair color cannot be passed down to her children.
  • If the player creates their Avatar with a scar or an eyepatch, this feature is mirrored between their left and right-facing character portraits.
  • Robin's official render for Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U has both genders of Robin equipped with a Levin Sword. Male Robin has a Thunder tome while Female Robin wields an Elwind tome.
  • In Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U Robin uses the Nosferatu Tome despite the fact that they cannot normally wield it as a Tactician.
  • Robin's name in the German version of the Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U homepage (Daraen) differs from his default name in the German version of Awakening (Robin). Strangely Robin was named Daraen on the German website of Awakening, too.
    • Curiously, the announcement trailer in the German version of the Nintendo e-Shop is titled Lucina & Robin. The trailer for the Pokémon newcomers is correctly translated to their German names, indicating that both Robin or Daraen could show up as Robin's name in the final German release version of Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U. In the final German version of both games he is named Daraen.
    • His name is still Daraen in Fire Emblem Heroes.
  • Robin is the only playable unit in Awakening to not have an official artwork aside from their in game portrait.
    • They are also the only Avatar unit that does not have an official artwork aside from their in game portraits.
  • Robin's amiibo Hero Battle team in Fates is based off of Robin's very first allies from Awakening:
    • Mercenary (Paired Up with Robin): Chrom
    • Shrine Maiden: Lissa
    • Great Knight: Frederick
  • If Robin is recruited and running the armory in Fates, he will remark how the weapons do not "wear out over time". This is a nod to the fact Fates is the second game in the series to not have standard weapon durability after Fire Emblem Gaiden. This is also a jab at his Smash Bros character, who cycles through weapons as their durability gives out.
  • In Heroes, Male Robin is the only Avatar unit to have a summoning animation as well as the final boss of the Tempest Trials.
  • In Heroes, Female Robin is the only Avatar unit to be the Grand Hero.
  • In Fire Emblem Heroes, Female Robin's Grand Hero Battle map is based on Awakening Paralogue 12.
  • In Warriors, Female Robin is the first Avatar unit to be unlocked in the History Mode.
    • She is also the one of the two Avatar units to be unlocked in the History Mode. The other one is Male Corrin.
      • This also makes her the only unit to be unlocked in the History Mode that isn't a Lord unit.
  • Female Robin is the only playable Fire Emblem character in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U who doesn't have a amiibo of herself.
  • According to Naga and Tiki in Fire Emblem Awakening and the younger Tiki in Fire Emblem Warriors, Robin's power resembles their own. This is presumably due to Grima having been created from Divine Dragon's blood.
  • Male Robin (Fell Reincarnation) is the winner of the 11th Voting Gauntlet (Shadow in the Mirror) in Fire Emblem Heroes as Grima.
  • Legendary Robin (F) was the first colorless dragon introduced in Fire Emblem Heroes as well as the first colorless legendary hero introduced to the game
