“Curse it all! Just when I thought things had finally turned my way...”
—Rude's battle quote

Rude is the Boss of Chapter 2 in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade.

Rude is a greedy, traitorous man, who pretended that Princess Guinivere had disappeared from his custody to the higher Bern officials, with the intention of selling her to another country to use as leverage over Bern. According to Rude, he and his soldiers would have no future in the Bern Army and might as well make as much money as possible in their leave.

Rude's plans failed when the Princess' loyal servant Elen escaped. Elen ran west and eventually ran right into Roy. After explaining the situation to Roy and his party they decided to help her out.

Rude lead his forces against Roy to recapture Elen, but inevitably failed. Rude was killed in battle guarding the gate to his fort.

Personality[]

Befitting his name, Rude is a selfish knight who planned to betray his home country just for his personal gain. He had no problem with using Guinivere as part of his scheme. Rude seems to be quite fearful of Melady during their brief conversation and nearly failed his plan out of nervousness. Despite all this, Rude expresses some regret upon dying as he accepts his fate.

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

The Hammer that Wade comes equipped with upon joining in this chapter is well-suited to use against Rude. It can deal enough damage to defeat Rude in one attack, but be aware that the low accuracy of Axes combined with the evasion boost from the Gate will make the Hammer difficult to hit with. The Armorslayer obtained from the Village in this chapter is also a solid option despite the weapon triangle disadvantage. While it may not be powerful enough to defeat Rude in one hit, it is far more accurate and lighter than the Hammer. Under no circumstances should Elen ever be placed within Rude's attack range, since his attack power with his Javelin will deal heavy damage or even one-shot her due to her zero base Defense.
