Etymology

The saunion was a kind of spear wielded by the Ancient Iberian people of Spain and Portugal. These spears could be thrown up to 30 meters away, which is reflected in its unusually large range for a lance in the Fire Emblem series. The Romans called the saunion the soliferrum which means "only of iron", since these spears were made completely of iron.
