—Edelgard
Shifting History is the seventh chapter of the Scarlet Blaze route of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, and the tenth overall. After speaking with Edelgard at camp, the Battle Strategies function becomes available, where members of the army will offer suggestions to help improve the army (twice during any chapter except the final chapter).
Story[]
In the five months since the Adrestian Empire thwarted an assassination attempt from the Church of Seiros, the war for Fódlan has remained at a stalemate. Seeking a way to shift the balance of power, Edelgard and Claude meet on the border between Adrestia and Leicester to formalize a pact that ends hostilities between their two nations, with Shez, Hubert, and Holst as witnesses. The Alliance agrees to the Empire's request to send troops to attack Faerghus from the east and draw some of the Kingdom's troops away from the Empire as it resumes its assault from the west.
In response to Adrestia and Leicester joining forces, Dimitri sends Rodrigue, Annette, and Gustave to defend the western front. Rodrigue enlists the services of Jeralt's Mercenaries, fearing that Baron Mateus, the new lord of Mateus territory, will not be up to the task of defending his lands from the Empire.

After the Imperial army defeats Rodrigue, Jeralt arrives late to the battle after having fought other Imperial soldiers on another front.
If the Imperial army avoids Byleth during the battle, Jeralt and his mercenaries surrender, with Edelgard offering them positions in the Imperial army, which they all accept.
If the Imperial army defeats Byleth, Shez and Jeralt duel, with Shez striking a killing blow. While Shez is distracted, Byleth attacks and kills Randolph while his sister Fleche watches, with Shez lamenting not being able to come in time to save Randolph. Consumed by revenge over their father's death, Byleth allows Sothis to fully possess their body for a chance to kill Shez the next time they meet.
Recruitment[]
Yuri can be recruited during the main quest "Subjugation of the Western Kingdom" by using the "Persuade Yuri" strategy (costs 20 Strategic Resource points), then defeating him.

Byleth and Jeralt will join the army automatically at the start of the next chapter if you do not defeat Byleth in combat.
To do this, you will need to take the following steps:
- Select the "Resonant Lightning" strategy (costs 30 Strategic Resource points) before the start of the battle.
- Capture the strongholds surrounding the Central Hill where Baron Mateus is stationed, forcing him to surrender.
- Defeat the enemies attacking the allied Sorcery Engineers, and then initiate the "Resonant Lightning" strategy (to initiate the strategy, at least one north-west stronghold must remain under enemy control). Send at least one unit to the southeast to prepare to cross the bridges to the eastern shoals after defending Randolph and Fleche from the enemy's reinforcements. If the strategy is successful, Alois will appear and guard the gate to Rodrigue's stronghold, and Byleth will move to the stronghold west of Alois' position.
- Capture all of the strongholds to the northwest, and then defeat or recruit Yuri. After doing this, the bridges to the eastern shoals should be complete, giving you a clear path to the boss. If you forced Baron Mateus' surrender earlier, he will destroy the bridge to prevent Byleth from quickly returning to their original position.
- Defeat Alois and Rodrigue as quickly as possible. Byleth will attempt to catch up with Rodrigue by capturing any allied strongholds along the way. Do not defeat Byleth or allow them to reach either Alois or Rodrigue, or your opportunity to recruit them will fail. It is possible to slow Byleth's advance by using a steady stream of Heal, Physic, or Fortify spells on the stronghold captains.
