A Shrine in Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Shrines are key locations that appear in Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.
Overview
Characters that have reached an appropriate Level can promote to a higher class. Aside from promotion, a shrine can have one of two other functions as well. Some shrines can revive units from death, but most give stat boosts. To get these bonuses, Alm/Celica needs to interact with the Lion Head Statue located within.
In general, the player must traverse maps filled with enemies to get to a shrine. Once there, they may explore it freely, giving access to the aforementioned promotions and bonuses, though some shrines have hidden paths with additional maps.
In Echoes, there are special DLC Shrines that unlocks the third tier of classes. In order to reach the third tier, characters must reach Level 20 in their promoted class.
