Profile[edit | edit source]
Siegmund is, alongside its sister weapon, introduced after battle against Orson in Chapter 16. After taking the Sacred Stone of Renais and allowing their braces to resonate with it, Eirika and Ephraim are guided to two Chests that are located nearby. Seth then unlocks both chests, taking both Sieglinde and Siegmund from their depths, and gives the latter to Ephraim. The lance is then wielded by Ephraim in his quest to vanquish the Demon King's influence from the continent of Magvel.

Etymology[edit | edit source]
Siegmund is the long-lost twin brother of Sieglinde in Richard Wagner's opera The Ring of the Nibelung. When the twins reunite in adulthood, they fall in love and commit a taboo by bearing a child together. He is based off of Sigmund, a character from the epics Völsunga Saga and Nibelungenlied.
The name Siegmund is a Germanic name meaning "victorious protector" or "protector of victory."
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- In Norse mythology, one of Sigmund's sons is named Sigurd. In the German version of the tale, this son's name is Siegfried.
