—In-game description
Siegmund (ジークムント Jīkumunto) is a sacred Lance that appears in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones and Fire Emblem Heroes. Known as the Flame Lance (炎槍, Ensō lit. Flame Spear) Siegmund, alongside the Thunder Sword Sieglinde, is one of the Sacred Twins of Renais, and is usable only by Ephraim. Like most of its other counterparts, Siegmund has the ability to inflict effective damage against Monster units.
Profile
Siegmund is, alongside its sister weapon, introduced after battle against Orson in Chapter 16. After taking the Sacred Stone of Renais and allowing their braces to resonate with it, Eirika and Ephraim are guided to two Chests that are located nearby. Seth then unlocks both chests, taking both Sieglinde and Siegmund from their depths, and gives the latter to Ephraim. The lance is then wielded by Ephraim in his quest to vanquish the Demon King's influence from the continent of Magvel.

Etymology
Siegmund is named after the figure Sigmund from the Norse Epic, Saga of the Volsungs. The name change references Richard Wagner's Opera rendition of the story. Sigmund/Siegmund unknowingly had an insestuous relationship with his disguised by witchcraft sister Signy/Sieglinde, and had a son called Sinfoljti, who in Wagner's version was called Siegfried.
Trivia
- Sieglinde and Siegmund are not the only Sacred Twins that have similar names, with the only difference resting on the last four to five letters. In Fire Emblem Fates, there is a sacred sword carried by Prince Xander, Siegfried.
- Siegmund is the German derivative of the name "Sigmund", coming from sigu, victory, and mund, protector.
