The Silver Shuriken (銀の手裏剣 Gin no shuriken) is a Shuriken that is introduced in Fire Emblem Fates. The strongest of the standard Shuriken appearing in the game, the Silver Shuriken is defined by high Might, the ability to raise the Speed of its wielder by 2, alongside reducing the Speed, Defense and Resistance of enemy units post-battle. These strengths do, however, come at the cost of quite a number of penalties, including a reduction in the wielder's Critical Evade, alongside reducing their Strength and Skill post-battle.

Etymology[edit | edit source]
The shuriken (手裏剣) was a common throwing weapon for ninja, and its name can mean "sword hidden in the hand", or "the sword inside of hand". These were flattened, bladed discs that were thrown at enemies.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
Ironically, shurikens mostly look like small discs with flat spikes protruding out the sides, so that it could slice while being thrown and spinning. The silver shuriken seen in Fire Emblem Fates looks much more like a kunai (苦無), which were diamond shaped knives that were originally used for farming and repurposed into weapons by some ninja.
- Furthermore, kunai were mostly used as close combat weapons for stabbing people up close, while actual shurikens were meant to be thrown.
