—Azura
The Songstress is a support class that is introduced in Fire Emblem Fates. It is the personal class of Azura, the deuteragonist of Fates.
Combat[]
The Songstress is the Fates version of the Dancer class and comes with the ability to Sing to ally units, giving the ally they sing to another turn of action after they have completed one. The Songstress is the only non-DLC Special class in Fates, having no promotions, but has a Level cap of 40.
Like most Dancer units, the Songstress is not a primary combat oriented unit and is built mainly a supportive one. In a pinch, a Songstress can fend for themselves thanks to decent Strength caps and moderate Speed and Skill, allowing them to dodge hits and punish enemies who try to attack them. The class's innate skills are supportive for nearby allies, increasing their offensive and defensive prowess. In particular Inspiring Song gives stat benefits to units that the songstress sings to and Voice of Peace and Foreign Princess reduce the damage of enemy damage to allies within a two tile zone around the Songstress. The latter of which is useful for My Castle battles.
Their main weakness comes from their low defensive stats and HP which makes any form of received damage a serious threat to their survivability. They are the only advanced class who does not have a max Weapon Rank that reaches an A mastery. In fact, the Songstress' sole weapon, Lances and Naginatas, can only reach a max rank of C, severely limiting their offensive options.

Trivia[]
- The Songstress and Villager classes are the only classes in Fates that cannot achieve a Weapon Rank beyond grade C.
- The only existing map sprite for a Songstress is Azura, so if any other unit becomes a Songstress (say in a randomizer), their map sprite will be that of the Invisible Swordsman's sprite from Chapter 5.
