The Spy's Yumi is a Yumi that debuted in Fire Emblem Fates.

Overview

Capable of inflicting damage against enemy units at a fixed range of 3, the Spy's Yumi is hampered by its low Might and hit rate, penalty to Avoid, alongside its inability to perform double attacks.

The Spy's Yumi is similar to the Longbow from previous games in that it can attack from a range of 3 over most bows' limitation of 2, although it lacks the latter's ability to attack and counterattack at a range of 2. Its unusually superior range makes it a great candidate for softening and killing otherwise dangerous targets, particularly stationary ones: outside of a few specific circumstances most enemies only have a range of 1-2.

Etymology

Yumi is the kun'yomi reading for the Chinese character gōng (弓), which in Japanese on'yomi is pronounced as kyū. Wakyu (和弓) translates to "Japanese Bow", the kanji which is pronounced wa in on'yomi and kazu in kun'yomi is borrowed from the Chinese hé (和), which means "harmonious" or "harmony".
