—In-game description, Shadow Dragon and Shin Monshō
The Steel Axe (鋼の斧 Hagane no ono) is the second most common Axe that exists in the Fire Emblem Series. Conforming to the standard relationship that is shared between iron and steel weapons, the Steel Axe is notably stronger and more expensive than its iron counterpart. Despite this, however, the cumbersome nature of this axe may compel one to elect to outfit one's axe users with the Iron Axe instead.
An enemy-exclusive ranged version of the weapon, the Steel Throwing Axe (鋼の投撃斧 Hagane no tōgeki ono), also appears in Fire Emblem: Fates.
