The Steel Naginata (鋼の薙刀 Hagane no naginata) is a Naginata that is introduced in Fire Emblem Fates. Slightly stronger than its iron counterpart, the Steel Naginata, apart from increasing its wielder's Defense and Resistance by 1, reduces their ability to perform double attacks.

The Steel Nageyari (鋼の投撃薙刀 Hagane no tōgeki naginata, lit. Steel Throwing Naginata) is the enemy-exclusive ranged variant of the Steel Naginata.

Etymology

The naginata (薙刀), was a polearm used by samurai. It was essentially a spear with a curved blade. The naginata is one class of the Nihontō (日本刀), Japanese bladed weapons.

Nageyari (投槍) literally means "throwing spear," and the yari (槍), is also polearm that samurai used, which had a straight blade. This kind of weapon is also a class of Nihontō.
