Etymology[]
The Superior Edge's design takes inspiration from an Italian Swordbreaker dagger. A Swordbreaker was a special parrying dagger used during the Renaissance when duelling if one chooses to dual-wield a rapier and a dagger. The jagged edge and teeth are used to catch a sword and possibly snap the blade in half. The sword that appears in Awakening looks very similar to its real-life incarnation, with the difference being the grip, as the real one has a special design but the Awakening version is much more basic, and the blade is longer than the traditional dagger.
