The Surefire Yumi is a Yumi that is introduced in Fire Emblem Fates. Like its name suggests, the Surefire Yumi is an immensely accurate weapon, imbued with a Hit Rate that is unrivalled by most other weapons in the game. This strength is, however, offset by the fact that the Surefire Yumi reduces its wielder's Defense and Resistance, alongside dampening their ability to dodge hostile attacks.

Etymology[]

Yumi is the kun'yomi reading for the Chinese character gōng (弓), which in Japanese on'yomi is pronounced as kyūWakyu (和弓) translates to "Japanese Bow", the kanji which is pronounced wa in on'yomi and kazu in kun'yomi is borrowed from the Chinese hé (和), which means "harmonious" or "harmony".

Trivia[]

  • The Surefire Yumi is similar to Innes' Bow in Awakening; both bows deal moderate damage and are the most accurate bows in their respective games.
  • The Surefire Yumi is the only B-ranked weapon in Fates that does not inflict a strength and skill penalty of two points post-combat after attacking with it.
