Takehiro Izushi started his career at Nintendo in 1975 as an engineer, later he became part of Nintendo Research and Development team 1. The first game he helped develop was colour TV-Game 6, released in 1977. It was a group of games that were all a variation of pong. He then worked on a range of titles that spanned over GameBoy, GameBoyColour, SuperNintendo, Nintendo64 and Game and Watch until he took over leadership of Nintendo Research and Development team 1 after Gunpei Yukoi's retirment in 1997. He then continued to work on GameBoyAdvance and Gamecube games (including Fire Emblem:the binding blade) until he became Nintendo's manger of general affairs.
