The Dead Town is the nineteenth chapter of Fire Emblem Engage.

Story[]

Upon sailing into Givre Port in the nation of Elusia, Alear and their forces discover the entire town is deserted, and its residents have been turned into Corrupted. Encountering Marni and Mauvier, they prepare for battle. After a lengthy battle, Marni and Mauvier retreat and the Rings of the Dawn Maiden and Young Lion are retrieved by Alear. Roy and Michaia reveal that Sombron started draining blood from the common folk, thus resulting them becoming Corrupted. This prompted Ivy to declare that Sombron must be stopped so the other nations won't suffer the same fate.

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

The most complicated thing is Mauvier, who can send a group of enemies in front of him (around Saphir's starting location). That is why the middle zone is dangerous, and we should avoid it first. If you have Rescue staves (Alternately, Warp staves equipped by Griffin Knight), it will be much easier to prevent Saphir from being surrounded. It would be best to focus on the top and bottom lanes first. Fliers units have an advantage in this battle since you can easily pass from the center of the ship to the front of the boat. Luckily, Reinforcements are not much in this battle, and you can slowly push and kill their bodyguards before reaching Marni and Mauvier. Freeze staves also help to separate them. Alternatively, You can use silence staves to Mauvier since he uses only tomes this time.

I recommend using staves to warp Saphir back to the ship and prevent the risk of Mauvier's Warp staves. However, If you do not have any movement staves, you can assign Diamant to the frontline to make him reach Saphir faster. Luckily, Your boat has three fire cannons. You can shoot them to dispel miasma. However, Each cannon can shoot three bullets. You do not need to shoot all three bullets conclusively but wait for the enemies in range.

If you want to play safe, I suggested avoiding the middle lane for now and waiting for Mauvier to deplete his Warp staves. The top lane has fewer enemies than the bottom lane, so weighing on the bottom lanes is fine. Remind that you will not deal enemies in the top and bottom lanes but also enemies from the middle lanes where Mauvier send their enemies via Warp. Check the distance between your group and a Corrupt Wyrm. Once they can reach you, You should kill them before they can attack your units. You can also use the top and bottom flame cannon on your boat. Not only do they reduce HP and dispel miasma. They will reduce movements too. You can take this advantage to keep enemies at a distance. You do not need to visit a house until your group is safe since no one but enemies is here. As a cutscene give you a clue about this map. You will get ambushed by enemies instead. However, Enemies in the houses also hold a drop item, so it is worth visiting them.

Suppose your enemies are cleared in both top and bottom lanes, including enemies from Mauvier's staves. I think enemies will guard Mauvier and Marni. You can now push your group to the middle lane. You can use your durable units to form the wall and tank enemies until you can reach Marni (or Mauvier). I suggest killing Marni first since she has only two health gauges, and she is vulnerable to magic. Freeze staves also work well on this map. You should freeze or silence Mauvier while dealing with Marni. Once Marni is defeated. You can unleash all chain attacks and engage attack to Mauvier.

Trivia[]

  • While houses in this chapter can be visited as normal, the occupants of all of the houses are Corrupted.
