Fe13 renewal basilio daraen chrom

Basilio and Robin encourage Chrom to keep going through the Midmire.

The Midmire is a location in Fire Emblem Awakening. It is found in the country of Plegia. West of Plegia Castle and its courtyard, Chrom and the Shepherds flee here after Emmeryn's sacrifice. During Chapter 10, a steady rain floods the area, with the thick clouds and flashing lightning above promising no end.

Geography[]

The Midmire is dominated first by the rain and second by the giant spinal column and ribs of some long-dead beast. The bones rise from the mud, puddles, and soaked plant matter beneath them. The entire area is a valley fen soaked by the rain and the runoff from the surrounding mountains. Thus the name of the area, Midmire, is geographically relevant: it is a mire in the middle of the mountains.

To the north of the Midmire, the mountains and rain are replaced by the Border Wastes. The Midmire seems to be one of the only places in Plegia that isn't a desert. Despite the soaked terrain, the Plegian army has built a number of forts here.

Story[]

Though the Khans Basilio and Flavia had devised an escape route for the Shepherds, their path is blocked by the Plegian general Mustafa and his men. Mustafa offers surrender, but Frederick, speaking on Chrom's behalf in the wake of his sister's death, denies the offer. The Shepherds must defeat Mustafa before they can escape Plegia with Olivia.

Having followed the Plegian forces, thieves swamp the area, hoping to nick a few treasures from the battle. Mustafa will announce his distaste for the thieves, but concentrate his attack on the Shepherds. If Chrom's forces defeat the thieves before they escape, they can gain a Wyrmslayer, Master Seal, Seraph Robe, and Bullion (M).

Having heard Emmeryn's speech at the Plegia Castle Courtyard, some of the Plegian soldiers have lost their will to fight. Mustafa himself only fights because he fears what Gangrel will do with his wife and child if he does not. Once Mustafa is defeated, he urges the Shepherds to spare the lives of his men, who only fought because of their faith in their general. Regardless of the arrival of reinforcements, the battle ends when Mustafa falls. After the battle, Olivia helps Chrom and his allies escape to Ferox.
