The Sentinels is the twelfth chapter of Fire Emblem Engage.

Story[]

Alear, Alfred , Diamant and Ivy arrive in the Tullah Desert through south Elusia. After a while they end up lost, they are eventually found by Fogado of the Sentinels. He offers to help them get to the Solm Palace but has to run an errand involving some corrupted and his associates. After a surprising introduction the group fight off the corrupted.

Once the mission is completed, Fogado begins to lead the group to the palace. Alfred and Diamant then tell Alear that, when they visited Solm years ago, the only royalty they met was its queen Seforia, and neither its princess nor prince were to be seen. Alfred theorizes that the two may have been kept hidden, which leaves him suspicious about the royal family. The army arrives in Solm Palace, and Fogado enters its gates very casually, which perplexes Alear and the others. Fogado then reveals himself to be the prince of Solm, and brings the others to Seforia, his mother.

Meanwhile in Elusia, Veyle receives news of Alear's army from the Four Hounds. As the five converse, Veyle explains her plan: she would let Alear and company gain Solm's Emblem Ring, so that they might snatch it and the others from them at the same time. Suddenly, Veyle nearly collapses, stating that she has been "awake for too long" and must sleep. She then gives Zephia her instructions.

Strategy[]

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

The chapter is relatively straightforward with a Rout the Enemy objective, though there are three villagers on the opposite end of the map who are being hunted by the enemies. They will fall quickly if surrounded, and if you do not save them you will lose the rewards they give you in the afterbattle.

The quicksand can be traveled through normally, but if a unit starts their turn in one of these tiles, they will suffer a movement penalty, so it is recommended all of your grounded units try to avoid staying in one of these spots. Pandreo carries a Warp staff that can help units with lower mobility (Generals and any unpromoted non-cavalry units) get through these tiles as well. Fliers remain completely unaffected.

Roster Strategy[]

Due to the loss of the 6 emblem rings, you will not be able to create any new bond rings from those lost, but do keep all the bond rings you've already managed to collect. You will, however, be able to craft new Bond Rings from the Ring of the Lady of the Plains and the Ring of the Princess Exalt. The following bond rings are the most notable ones you can craft:

  • Eliwood grants the Draw Back skill, pulling the wielder and the target ally back one space. Can be used to pull an ally closer or away from danger.
  • Nino gives the Giga Excalibur skill, granting a 20% damage bonus when initiating combat with the Excalibur tome. Excalibur requires an A rank in tomes to use it, limiting its use to Advance Classes Sage, Mage Knight, and the promotions of Celine and Ivy. You will also need to forge the tome from a copy of Elwind, which by this point you shouldn't have yet and need to craft from Wind, but if you have the materials this will prove to be a solid increase in power for your mages.
  • Chrom's Rightful Ruler increases the trigger rate of all skills with trigger rates by 5%. A very situational due to offensive skills with trigger rates not being widely available, but it will be a good fit for any of the characters who can afford to use it.
  • Lissa comes with Healtouch, increasing the HP recovered by healing staves by a flat 5 hp. While not amazing, it does fill the void left by the absence of Micaiah's emblem ring.
