“For some time now, Enbarr Palace has been infested with the same darkness you saw in Tomas. They have made a puppet of the emperor, and plot with disloyal subjects to seize control of the Empire. Our objective is to stamp these traitors out, seize the palace, and reclaim the Empire for our own. [...] These villains have had free run of my house for too long. Today, I take it all back!”
Edelgard

The Shadows of Adrestia is the third chapter of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes for players who chose to join the Black Eagles. Completing this chapter will end the Prologue and begin the Scarlet Blaze storyline. The chapter 3 events in Scarlet Blaze, Azure Gleam, and Golden Wildfire all take place at the same time.

Story[]

After Tomas sheds his disguise and flees Garreg Mach, Edelgard and Hubert convince the Church of Seiros to assist them in staging an attack on Enbarr, citing Lord Arundel possessing similar powers to Tomas as evidence of his unsavory nature. Edelgard gathers a small force consisting of Shez and some of the Black Eagles students, keeping them in the dark regarding their true objective until they reach Enbarr. Edelgard tells Shez that she invited them along as a chance to understand where their mysterious power comes from.

Within the Imperial palace, Lord Arundel learns of Kronya and Solon's failures and tells one of his subordinates to put Cleobulus on alert in Fhirdiad. Suspecting that Edelgard is plotting against him, he orders all soldiers loyal to him to mobilize and kill any intruders.

When Edelgard and her army arrive at the palace, she tells them of her plan: sneak into the palace through the rear gate and apprehend Lord Arundel and Duke Aegir in order to reclaim control of her Empire.

Not long after Lord Arundel is defeated, he drops his disguise and reveals himself as Thales. As he disappears, he mocks Shez and Edelgard, telling them that "those who slither in the dark" are too powerful for them alone to destroy.

Edelgard celebrates her victory with her classmates and prepares for her coronation, and meets with Counts Bergliez, Hevring, and Varley to discuss her future plans, which include the restoration of the Southern Church (with Varley as its bishop) and the possibility of a war.

With Dimitri dealing with a succession crisis in Fhirdiad and Claude dealing with a massive invading Almyran army, the Church of Seiros closes the Officers Academy, imploring the students to return to their homes for their own safety.

"End of spoilers. It's a pleasure doing business with you!"
