The Thunderbolt (サンダーボルト Sandā boruto) is a Ballista weapon that appears recurrently across the Fire Emblem Series. A long-ranged artillery weapon like its other counterparts, the Thunderbolt is uniquely set apart from them by its unique ability to inflict effective damage against other Ballistae. In addition to this, the ammunition that the Thunderbolt discharges is one that is, unlike standard Ballista weapons, intangible and not grounded in reality, as it takes the form of streaks of lightning that are directed to strike selected enemy targets.

In Shadow Dragon, the Thunderbolt inflicts magical damage instead of physical damage. Since enemy Ballisticians tend to have very little HP, this weapon can be very useful for defeating them, but its high Weight and low Durability are glaring drawbacks.
