Thyrsus is a Staff that debuted in Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE.

OverviewEdit

In Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE obtaining the staff requires Kiria Kurono to be a Sorcerer to perform the Carnage Unity necessary to form the staff. It can teach her the skills Mazandyne, Makajamaon, Concentrate, True Casting, and the Session Attack Wind-Elwind.

In Fire Emblem: Three Houses it is one of the Heroes' Relics associated with the Crest of Gloucester. The staff provides +2 range to magic attacks, and grants the effects of Pavise and Aegis if the holder possesses the correct Crest.

EtymologyEdit

A Thyrsus, or thyrsos (Ancient Greek: θύρσος), was a wand or staff of giant fennel (Ferula communis) covered with ivy vines and leaves, sometimes wound with taeniae and topped with a pine cone or by a bunch of vine-leaves and grapes or ivy-leaves and berries. The thyrsus, associated with Dionysus (or Bacchus) and his followers, the Satyrs and Maenads (or Bacchants), is a symbol of prosperity, fertility, hedonism, and pleasure/enjoyment in general.
