—Claude
To War! is the fourth chapter of the Golden Wildfire path of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, as well as the first chapter of Part I for Golden Wildfire. This chapter consists of a main quest, "The Defense of the Great Bridge", and three side missions.
Story[]
Two years after the closure of the Officers Academy, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude rise to leadership positions of their respective nations, with Edelgard casting the first stone of upheaval by declaring war on the Church of Seiros' Central Church branch.
Claude invites Shez to Riegan territory to continue their work as a mercenary, but running the Alliance has kept his hands tied, forcing Shez to get by with simple inn guarding jobs. After the latest Alliance roundtable meeting, Claude hires Shez as a commander for the Alliance army, with his former Golden Deer classmates reuniting as contributions to the war effort from the Five Great Lords (save for Raphael and Leonie, who were personally invited by Claude himself). The impending war against the Adrestian Empire has the lords closest to the border nervous, as the Empire plans to break through Leicester via the Great Bridge of Myrddin to attack Garreg Mach Monastery.
After Claude meets with Count Gloucester in secret, Lorenz rejoins the Alliance army following a brief absence to inquire about what Claude discussed with his father. When pressed, Claude asks Lorenz a hypothetical question about what he would do if the count were to surrender to the Empire.
"Just a minute! The following section contains spoilers. Viewing it will cost a lot. Are you prepared to pay for it?"

As the Alliance reaches the Great Bridge, they receive multiple urgent missives from Acheron to defend the bridge, but Claude doesn't take the threat seriously until Lorenz tells him that Count Gloucester is engaged with the enemy. The Alliance army fights its way to the occupied bridge to defeat Imperial troops and secure an escape route for the count, but Acheron uses that exact moment to curry favor with the Empire and defect from the Alliance. Count Gloucester orders his soldiers to retreat to safety while Acheron gets frustrated with the Empire not coming to his aid during what he believes to be a perfectly-timed betrayal.
The enemy forces, led by Caspar and Linhardt, attempt to slow the Alliance's retreat from the bridge, only to be chased away until Ferdinand arrives with reinforcements. Seeing the tide turning against him, Count Gloucester orders his soldiers to lay down their arms and surrender to the Empire, forcing Claude's army to fall back as well. Although Count Gloucester has chosen to support the Empire (with Count Ordelia following suit shortly afterward), Lorenz, Ignatz, and Lysithea decide to keep fighting for the Alliance as the Imperial army advances toward Leicester's capital city of Derdriu.
Recruitment[]
Shamir will automatically join the player's army upon starting the chapter, whereas Lorenz will temporarily part ways but will rejoin your army upon completion of the first side battle.
Linhardt can be recruited during the main quest "The Defense of the Great Bridge" by using the "Persuade Linhardt" strategy (costs 10 points), then defeating him.
