The Torch Staff is a Staff that debuted in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776.

History in the Series

This weapon is a recurring Staff in the Fire Emblem series. When cast, this staff allows its wielder to illuminate the shadows that are inherent within Fog of War battlefields within a certain range. The area illuminated by the staff is exactly the same as a regular Torch: three spaces from the point of origin and lessening with every subsequent player phase.

In GBA games, this staff is particularly useful for raising Staff rank for promoted magic users, as it is fairly cheap, gives a lot of weapon experience, and can be freely spammed on Fog of War maps.

The staff is absent from Awakening and Fates, as there are no Fog of War maps in either games. The staff later reappears in Engage under the name Illuminate.
