The Twilit Runes are a prophecy mentioned in Fire Emblem Heroes.

Profile

The Twilit Runes are said to have been dictated by Alfaðör when the nine realms of Zenith first came into being. They spell out how the god of each realm will come to ruin, and spell out the entirety of time from beginning to end. Alfaðör servants, Loki and Thórr are tasked with ensuring and witnessing that everything that was decreed comes to pass. It's said that nothing they can do can change the course of fate.

Ice & Flame

In the Ice & Flame series of Tempest Trials, Loki reveals the contents of the Twilit Runes to Múspell, the god of the Realm of Flame, supposedly to create a more entertaining fight for herself and Thórr to enjoy. The knowledge revealed to him was as follows:

"Two gods war, their champions spill blood... Ice melts while the flame remains... Pierced by frost, the Flame Gem rekindles, the champion renewed."

This allowed Múspell to better prepare his champion for combat against the champion of the god of the Realm of Ice, Nifl.

Trivia

  • The Twilit Runes may be a reference to Ragnarok which is foretold as an event that will lead to the death of many of the gods and goddesses in Norse Mythology. Ragnarok is also referred to as the "Twilight of the Gods"
