Since Kakusei is about 6-15 months from localization, I may as well take a look at some of the elements of the game and unravel them. The first thing to note are the ridiculously high number of skills, some of them poorly named. It may seem like the game might be too easy from this aspect, along with the high maximum stats, but the base stats and growth rates appear to prove otherwise. Here is a rough calculation of stats for both Chrom and Mariabell:
Krom: Level 20/20 Great Lord)
- HP: 59
- Str: 35
- Mag: 5
- Skl: 34
- Spd: 34
- Luck: 33
- Def: 28
- Res: 14
- Skills: Dual Attack+, Charisma, Aether, Royal Weapon
Mariabell Level 20/20 Valkyrie (Left)/ Battle Cleric (right)
- HP: 45.7/50.7
- Str: 7.6/12.6
- Mag: 29.8
- Skl: 25
- Spd: 28/26 (and her caps are supposed to be 43/41. How amusing).
- Luck: 35.4
- Def: 10.7/13.7
- Res: 29.9/27.9 (add +2 to get 31.9 or 29.9)
- Skills: Resistance +2, Secluded Lady, Resistance Cry (Valkyrie), Dual Support+ (Valkyrie), Luck Cry (Battle Cleric), Renewal (Battle Cleric)
And now here is their maximum stats (Maximum stats vary, so I put in the addition/subtractions to get the absolute maximum stats):
- Chrom:
- HP: 80
- Str: 43 +1 (44)
- Mag: 30 (good luck reaching that!)
- Skl: 40 +1 (41)
- Spd: 41 +1 (42)
- Luck: 45 +1 (46)
- Def: 42 -1 (41)
- Res: 40 -1 (39; good luck reaching this as well)
- Mariabell (Again, Valkyrie is left, Battle Cleric is right):
- HP: 80
- Str: 30/40 -3 (27/37)
- Mag: 42/40 +2 (44/42)
- Skl: 38 +1 (39)
- Spd: 43/41
- Luck: 45 +3 (48)
- Def: 30/38 -3 (27/35; how do you expect her to reach that anyways without cheating?)
- Res: 45/43 +2 (47/45)
Now, the game does not look so easy anymore, does it? With a non-pre-promote character having her average speed 15 points below the cap (but, then again, she could just not be a very good character; I would have to play the game for myself), or Chrom, on average, just barely reaching Mariabell's defense cap as a Valkyrie (seriously). So maybe all of these skills were put here for good reason. But why would we need all of these ridiculously high caps, especially HP?
