Due to personal comfort reasons, I am taking an indefinite hiatus from wiki related business. This is not in response to any specific topic, it's been something building up for a while. If you have any wiki concerns, please consult User:KhangND or another admin. Thank you for using the Fire Emblem Wiki.

For past messages, see here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. Thanks

For messages left here on this talk page, I will respond on this talk page. It gets confusing and tiresome having to jump from talk page to talk page to read a conversation or add a comment.--Otherarrow 04:50, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

DISCLAIMER: I have only played games from the GBA era and prior because I am a poor old fart; most of my knowledge of the latter games are secondhand (from this very wiki even). Do not ask me questions about the post-GBA era games or ask me to verify info about them; I don't know and am not the person to ask. Seriously.--Otherarrow (talk) 19:13, December 15, 2015 (UTC)

I love you more than I carrots and potatoes! We'd been together for so long! And I'm on top! I love you so much, my wonderful person! Thanks for being my lover for so long already. ^_^ --The Tomato Fairy (talk) 06:01, May 13, 2015 (UTC)

Aww, thank you sweetie. I love you very much, and I want us to be together for longer still! You are the best.--Otherarrow (talk) 06:04, May 13, 2015 (UTC)

Making the skins look like one of the ingame menus Edit

Hey, regarding that, it's a great idea and I've been thinking but I still can't think of anything. Did you have any ideas in mind then let's hear it and we'll see what we can do =] Khang (talk)

@fandom 00:20, August 17, 2015 (UTC)

The idea I had in mind when I thought of it was the menus from Old Mystery, like, blue box over a background map or something. I dunno. The text would be white? I drew up a really bad mock up in paint if you want to see.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:57, August 17, 2015 (UTC)
I made one for the homepage which retained everything but had the "Want to venture forth?" clicking yes would lead to a random page or category pages, no would go back to the wikia homepage without really changing much, but he thought differently over the articles that look like a menu itself. I just did this right now. (I should've used the random text generator) --The Tomato Fairy (talk) 01:03, August 17, 2015 (UTC)

Lol, that's nice Tomato Fairy, but I'm not sure if that's necessary. And yea, I'd love to see the mock up Otherarrow — Khang (talk)

@fandom 01:23, August 17, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, here it is: Mock up. I hope it gets the idea across and isn't too embarrassingly bad.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:50, August 17, 2015 (UTC)

Welp, here're the visual mockups based on your idea. I couldn't find any good FE3 map so I took the world map of Akaneia of Shadow Dragon instead. Tell me what you think. -- Khang (talk)

Sorry for butting in. I thought I understood what he meant, then got excited making a mock-up and encouraged him to do the same. Turns out our ideas were different. :( His is way better when I saw it, but I found my mock-up funny. --The Tomato Fairy (talk) 09:22, August 17, 2015 (UTC)

It's ok =] -- Khang (talk)@fandom 12:32, August 17, 2015 (UTC)
Well, the idea I had for the mock up was "FE3 stat menu", and having a overworld map instead of a in game map does kinda wreck that idea. Also, the blue I used in my mock up isn't the blue actually used in Mystery, just the closest equivalent I could find from the default paint options. Is there no place to find FE3 maps? If worse comes to worse, we may have to find the tileset and build our own.--Otherarrow (talk) 16:48, August 17, 2015 (UTC)
Here's what he wants! I was able to make it! :D --The Tomato Fairy (talk) 19:14, August 17, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks TFairy. Here're a few options. If you don't like either of these maps, pls provide me another. -- Khang (talk)

BG choice 2
BG choice 3
BG choice 4
BG choice 2 (monoskin)
BG choice 3 (monoskin)
BG choice 4 (monoskin)
I like the first option myself. Fits the feel I was going for, and the background isn't either too sparse (like 3), or too obviously on loop (like 2). It doesn't get all of what Tomato had, such as the separate boxes for Wiki Activity and Videos and etc being over the map too, but with Wikia's skin we can do so much. This works great!--Otherarrow (talk) 20:17, August 18, 2015 (UTC)

I personally like the 1st option also due to the fact that its map's quality is much better than the other 2. And it's possible to achieve what TFairy showed in her mock up via some lines of CSS code but I wouldn't recommend that as it doesn't follow Wikia's layout which may result in various difficulties for both readers and the wiki itself. So I suggest we should stick with that ↑. If you're fine with that, I'll make a forum to ask if there're any objections. -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 03:58, August 19, 2015 (UTC)

OK, you can go ahead and make the forum.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:27, August 19, 2015 (UTC)

Class History Sections Edit

I'm trying to do a class history for most of the Long Running classes, feel free to help if you can. Working on Fighter, right now. Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:43, August 31, 2015 (UTC)

I was thinking do you think we should make the FE3 Berserker, its own page? Speaking of which, I heard from FE3 hackers that the Book 2 class only works with that specific map normally. Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:52, September 3, 2015 (UTC)

Do you have any thoughts on the FE3 Berserker having its own page? Also more class info, the Soldier in FE3 has a player palette, and Playable data in the Arena, which gives opponents based on the users class. This is different from other unplayable classes like Pirate, if a pirate is put in the Arena, he'll always face a Lord! Emperor Hardin (talk) 19:46, September 7, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I was looking through sprites, and not only does the Solider have a "player" palette, so does the male Dracoknight (but not the male Pegasus Knight). Certain classes also have an enemy palette despite not, to my knowledge, ever showing up as enemies, such as female Dismounted units and the "Merric" Bishop variant. Anywho, FE3 Berserker? It's technically not related to the existing Berserker class by any means, so I'm leaning on split? I am not sure if there is much precedence for "class shares name with earlier one shot class, but is otherwise completely different". The only I can think of is Dark Knight (which there is no way in hell any of those will be merged) and Shaman (no way in hell we can figure out what to do with a split, since it involves at least two other classes as well).--Otherarrow (talk) 22:24, September 7, 2015 (UTC)
  • Male Dismounted units also have a player palette too: they wear light purple armor with red hair. I think Male Dismounted Paladin might also have a player palette, but I'm not totally sure. Thats really interesting about the Merric Bishop having an enemy palette. For example, I know Lord has no Enemy palette, while Pirate has no Player Palette, and only works with specific maps(I guess Darros was cut early). Meeting Dismounted enemies would certainly give more variety to the indoor chapters where melee enemies just consist of Armor Knights, and Soldiers, with Heroes being rarely encountered in later chapters.
  • This is a crazy guess, but I'm thinking Soldier might've been a dismounted variant of a regular class at one point. Though its also possilbe they were introduced to give more enemy variety to indoor chapters.
  • I'll go Ahead and get ready to split the Berserker then. I'll also note that the Swordmaster that replaced him in the DS version, and that there's more then one on Lunatic mode in the remake. Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:51, September 8, 2015 (UTC)

Heimler Edit

I don't know the whole story, but in the fan translation at least, Camus says Heimler took Thoron from Bishop Boah, while in FE3, and FE11 he says Volzhin took it. It would be weird if Camus mentioned Heimler if he wasn't in, but its not impossible? Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:50, September 3, 2015 (UTC)

I think there were simply too few people who played the original FE1 and read the claim about Heimler being unused. I've checked a number of sources (including some Japanese videos) and Heimler is indeed in the south-western corner in the original. His stats are listed here as unit 4: [1]

Paladin Level 1, HP 22, STR 8, SKL 7, SPD 11, DEF 9, MOV 10, EXP 44, Silver Lance, Knight Crest/Proof (the latter is dropped) [User:Aveyn Knight|Aveyn Knight]] (talk) 20:36, September 6, 2015 (UTC)

Huh, so that'd explain it. And it seems his stats in Shadow Dragon are pretty much a straight copy of his Dark Dragon stats too, huh. Anywho, thanks a lot for finding that info!--Otherarrow (talk) 20:48, September 6, 2015 (UTC)
Speaking of Heimler, any idea on what he and his friends are doing in that corner there; Guarding treasure, going shopping, just hanging out? Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:51, September 8, 2015 (UTC)

Chevalier DeletionEdit

Why did you delete the Chevalier page I only added it about a 1/2 hour ago. It even had more info than the Kouga page. It didn't have enough time for people to add to it. Ajitunes13.

Oh, sorry, it was poorly formatted and I couldn't tell what it was trying to say, so I thought it was a spam page. We get those every now and then, when someone basically "fills" a red link with nonsense. Let's see...a "starter page" should have a clear basis for what the page is about, proper formatting, and appropriate categorization and templates. Look at similar pages from the same game (such as Nohr for example) to see what I mean. It doesn't have to be fully fleshed out (that's why we got the Stub template after all) but it needs to be at least readable enough that folks know what to add to it.--Otherarrow (talk) 16:27, September 7, 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, but what do you mean by poorly formatted just so I know what to change. Ajitunes13.

The article name in the opening wasn't bolded, the page wasn't categorized, and the appropriate templates weren't added. Don't worry, I restored and fixed the page. Sorry for the knee jerk reaction there. .-.--Otherarrow (talk) 16:34, September 7, 2015 (UTC)

It's alright. Ajitunes13.

Infoboxes Edit

I intend to change the current infobox's design again and I already had something in mind. What do you think? -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 08:29, September 9, 2015 (UTC)

Go for it.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:20, September 9, 2015 (UTC)

Why did you remove FE13's camus from the archetypes page? A quote from the archetypes page,Holds no ill towards the player's army, and may have even loved ones or friends in that army, but continues to fight due to loyalty to his or her nation or lord, despite being fully aware that what their nation or lord is doing wrong and knowing full well they will perish in battle. See that last 5 words there? No? If you are not playing in hard mode or higher of course he's going to be a easy boss. DarkPit001 (talk) 09:29, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

We've been over this multiple times, heck, read Talk:Archetype sometimes. The short version: Mufasa, like Yen'fay in the Valm arc, has no real loyalty to Gangrel and only fights Chrom because Gangrel is threatening to kill his family. The key word: Loyalty. The point of the Camus archetype is having to fight a just man or even a former comrade due to their stubborn, seemingly blind loyalty to their cause or leader. Mufasa gives zero shits about the Plegian cause and has no commitment to Gangrel. He only fights because Gangrel is holding the lives of his family over his head. (Also, Mufasa is not even the first "sympathetic one-shot boss" in the series, so I don't get why folks are so obsessed with counting him and not like, Eagler or something.)--Otherarrow (talk) 16:07, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

Proper image size for .pngEdit

Hello Otherarrow, I was wondering which is theproper size for character image since I try to upload the original size, but the file was too big to upload. AzureJay 2:05, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

Beats me. Look at other pngs and see what size they are at?--Otherarrow (talk) 21:19, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

I was able to upload a character image of Marth by 2,709 × 3,475 and tried with the other images, and it still said it too large to upload. AzureJay 2:43, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

The maximum file size allowed to be uploaded on wikia is 10MB, you should resize your image if it exceeds that value. Thanks for your work with the images btw ^^ -- Khang (talk)@fandom 00:45, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

Archetype chitchat Edit

I probably should finish the Gender, Generic, and FE3 Berserker page first, but I was thinking do you think we should put a note that Kein, and Alva kinda like they'd be part of the archetype, but officially aren't listed in the Official list of Cain and Abel styled Cavaliers? On a related subject, I noticed some putting Mustafa in the Camus archetype, while he's sympathetic, he's ultimately minor. We've had several Sympathetic minor bosses in the past like Yodel, and that knight in service of Oliver that I can't remember the name of. Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:48, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I think the Kain and Alva thing is worth noting. If I had the rest of the scans, I'd probably be able to make the page as definitive as I could, but shrug. And yeah, Mustafa is not a Camus at all and people who say he is are basically simplifying the Archetype to "boss who isn't a jerk" (though they probably are counting him because they want every game to have someone in every archetype).--Otherarrow (talk) 22:35, September 22, 2015 (UTC)
Sure, we can also re-write their pages a little bit, as it currently mentions them as part of the archetype. Sidenote, what they thinking with how Lance Knights worked in Thracia? I always feel bad for minor bosses loyal to a superior who later joins the protagonists, EX: Merach, Kanatz. And yeah, not every game has to have every archetype. Also I wanted to ask, what is your view on Iron Knight being merged with Great KnightEmperor Hardin (talk) 23:52, September 22, 2015 (UTC)
I think someone (you actually) mention they exist separately within TRS, yeah? Now, for TRS, we have made exceptions to the "if it's distinct in it's own game, it's a separate class" rule, like with Mercenary/Fighter, but...hrm. The concept of Great Knight as "mount and armor" didn't come until The Sacred Stones, which is after TRS, and in all incarnations, the Great Knight has had Axe use (it even originally promoted from an exclusively Axe using class), which the Iron Knight doesn't seem to have. So on one hand, armored mounted unit who promoted from Armor Knight; on the other, Great Knight co-exists with it in TRS, it lacks the Great Knight's signature weapon type, and the fact that the similarities didn't come to the Great Knight until after TRS. Similarity in hindsight, basically. So...It's iffier than Fighter/Mercenary, at least.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:22, September 23, 2015 (UTC)
From what I remember hearing, Great Knights appear in the arena, I know that Axe knight appears. Berwick Saga definitely features Great Knight as a playable class promoting from Axe Knight(not the TRS Soldier class, which the BErwick class page currently links to. The Sacred Stones version of Great Knight has pretty much become its own class in my opinion, not only was Great Knight in RD translated as Axe Paladin out of Japan, the Fates version of the class even has a low Axe rank with a much higher lance and Axe Rank. Also Speaking of the TRS infantry classes, I'm pretty sure they're inspired by Axe Soldier, Sword Soldier, and Regular Soldier/Spear Soldier. What do you think? Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:49, September 23, 2015 (UTC)
I'm thinking of linking King Knight in Tearring Saga to Master Knight, would you be ok with that. King's Knight has equal caps to Gold Knight, both having the best mounted caps in the game, is extremely rare(only one playable character has it), and has access to all physical weapons. Note in the TCG game, Master Knights, Barons, and Emperors were split into Magical and physical Variants. Finally King Knight loses all weapon use, but sword when dismounted just like their unused variant in Thracia. What do you think? Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:44, September 24, 2015 (UTC)
You make a good point, but don't we already have a page for King's Knight?--Otherarrow (talk) 22:22, September 24, 2015 (UTC)
We do, but it just says King's Knight is a clas in Tearring's Saga.  Do you have any view on remarking on the similarities between the TRS Infantry classes, and the Weapon variants Soldier that were going to be in FE4? I was thinking of noting the similarities. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:44, September 24, 2015 (UTC)
Go ahead, you don't have to ask. My TRS knowledge is limited to what's on the wiki basically.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:00, September 25, 2015 (UTC)
Sure, do you think I should make King's Knight redirect to Master Knight as well? Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:01, September 25, 2015 (UTC)
If you think so?--Otherarrow (talk) 01:48, September 25, 2015 (UTC)
Maybe we can do a vote? Or I can at least mention it? Also how should I mention how the Brigand Class in FE3 are just renamed fighters? Emperor Hardin (talk) 05:53, September 28, 2015 (UTC)
I forgot to mention, the Wood Shooter class in Tearring Class temporarily becomes the Ballista or catapult when using certain weapons. This kinda combines the two mechancis for Ballisticians. Another thing I noticed after reading up upon, is Hagaru seems to be based on Jake, he has the same "I like beautiful girls, and I don't like attacking them" allowing you to recruit him. I guess thats more proof that the Beck and Jake had switched portraits in the NES version! Emperor Hardin (talk) 06:29, October 1, 2015 (UTC)
I changed up Kain, and Alva's pages to mention the confusion, tell me what you think of it.
Also I did some work on the Archetype page. A Thing to remember is many Pure Jeigans are actually useful throughout the entire game despite Low growths, Dagdar for example is at the top of most Tier Lists. Due to incredible growth boosts from scrolls, Base Growths are said to be one of the least important factors in effectiveness in Thracia 776. I also edited the Wendel Section, in the original game alone, Wendel has better growths then most magic units, including Lena who had terrible growths in the NES Version.
One last thing, do you mind if the Trebuchet(Catapult) class in Tearr Ring saga just links to Ballistican, as its the Stonehoist weaopn basically.  Emperor Hardin (talk) 07:48, October 4, 2015 (UTC)

I've been thinking about this for a while and maybe we should separate the playable Soldier class from the NPC Soldier class and merge the playable Soldier class with the Lance Fighter class as they have more in common with each other than they do with the NPC class. Thoughts? Are You Serious (talk) 03:17, October 5, 2015 (UTC)

No, it's the same class but different in between games. We don't agree with it, Are You Serious. -- The Tomato Fairy (talk) 20:12, October 6, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, sometimes, a class has different properties between games while still being essentially the same class. As the write up on Soldier states, while it didn't become its recognizable playable form until Path of Radiance, it didn't become a weak mook class until Thracia 776, and before that, it was a first tier Armor Knight. Are you suggesting we split off Soldier the NPC class, Soldier the first tier Armor, and Soldier the first tier Halberdier, because of essentially promotion? (and this sets precedence for other classes with different properties between games, such as Dragon Knight or Bow Knight, Do we split them too?). Lance Fighter is irrelevant; it's already on it's own page.--Otherarrow (talk) 20:21, October 6, 2015 (UTC)
Sometimes stuff like that happens, for now, I'll work on an edit to the history noting how Lance Fighter is the successor to Tellius Soldiers. Speaking of which, in Berwick Saga, there are to two classes named Thief, a playable one composed of professional spies in the Mercenary category, and a enemy exclusive version in the Cut-Throat category. Both have different stat caps. There also appears to be two different Dark Soldiers with different caps. One appears to be the Dismounted version of Dark Knight, and the other the dismounted form of Dark Rider, the presumed unprompted Dark Knight. Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:45, October 6, 2015 (UTC)

Header Edit

Yes, I would love to hear your thought instead of seeing you reverting my effort to find something more special to highlight the header, and leave something like "What is with that ugly font?". It is indeed offensive and what could be worse is causing a fight if it was somebody else... -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 13:55, October 8, 2015 (UTC)

Ah, sorry. I was taken off guard to see the header font suddenly change, in my opinion, for the worse. I was rude, yeah, I apologize. It won't happen again. Now let me expain: The chosen font, I feel, was ill fitting for the rest of the page and stuck out too much. Also, it looked way too, well, bubbly for a series like Fire Emblem. The way it clashed with the rest of the page was, for lack of a better term, ugly to my eyes. I hope I didn't sound rude with this explaination. And again, apologizes for my rude reaction. It was a kneejerk response.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:48, October 8, 2015 (UTC)

Lancer Edit

Do you mind if I make Lancer, a disambiguation page? Alot of classes use the name? Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:43, October 8, 2015 (UTC)

Oh, right. That's fine.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:42, October 8, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, maybe you can clean up the history section for the Soldier Article too? On a related subject, what a confusing name choice to give Soldier! Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:44, October 9, 2015 (UTC)
Just wanted to let you know about my latest edit on General. Tell if you're ok with it? Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:07, October 13, 2015 (UTC)
It's fine.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:40, October 13, 2015 (UTC)

Mostly TRS/BRS talkEdit

  • The Sword/Bow labeled Warrior isn't Warrior. The Japanese site translated calls it Over Warrior, while actual Warriors just called Warrior show up, and wield axes just like in Tear Ring Saga.
  • Classes are more character specific in Berwick Saga. Promotion is less important, as Weapon ranks seem to be the only difference in Stat caps.
  • Certain Individuals can have an additional weapon different from the class norm, at least for Free Knight.
  • Many normally Promoted classes seem basically unconnected to their normal tier 1 form. Like Generals, while still an armored unit, look vastly different from Knights, with thin, non bulky armor, covered by ornate cloth. They also wield swords, unlike the Axe using Knights.
  • There's another Armored class caleld Gigas Knight that uses axes, and exclusively uses the powerful Gigas Axe.

Would you mind, if I removed the Merge proposal on Iron Knight, talking it over with Khang, he agreed that there was enough of a difference? Finally I put a Merge on Lance General with General, as Lance using Generals already seem to be the default. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:33, October 15, 2015 (UTC)

So I noticed Ares says in the latest translation that his mom said Sigurd killed Eldigan, and died with rage and grief towards Sigurd. Mind if I add that to the Grahnye article? Also I might change the part about Iria(Grahyna in the manga) being hostile to Sigurd unlike Grahyne. Emperor Hardin (talk) 06:07, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

Do it. Don't mind me.--Otherarrow (talk) 14:49, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
To explain Berwick's Axe knights, and Great Knights, they do indeed use mounts. They can lose their horses though, as they're equipment. Also thanks for pointing it out, the class list didn't list Great Knight as mounted, so I fixed it. Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:23, October 18, 2015 (UTC)
Emperor Hardin, did you at least check about axe knights? I played BS, and axe knights never seemed yo use mounts. In fact there are no mounted axe users in that game that I remember. You can check SF for confirmation on axe knights. 09:06, October 18, 2015 (UTC)
Sorry I made a mistake. I thought I remembered seeing a Berwick Saga video with a Generic enemy being battled, and them being a armored then usual Mounted Unit with Axes, with a iron helmet covering the top half of their head. Must've been a different class, or maybe I misrembered the weapon or mount?
So for Great Knight in Berwick Saga, should we count them as a new class, they are still axe specialists despite not being mounted?
Also I'm wondering if I should Old Knight as Iron Knight, all Iron Knights(no class bases in Berwick, it seems) have an unusually high defense as welll as the Bodyguard skill, however they are not an armored unit type, dismounted or not? Finally Slayer, the promotion for Dean, the Fighter, links to Berserker. I guess thats fine for now?
As for FE1 Generals, I always did notice all sprite, and animation lists for FE1 never included a General Lance animation. So I figured they either couldn't use Lances, or had the same animation for both Lances, and Swords. Emperor Hardin (talk) 04:59, October 19, 2015 (UTC)
To explain the Morva trivia briefly, basically before Myrrh finds out about his death, right when Lyon/Riev Kills him, far away Myrrh gets a mysterious feeling of dread when traveling to the Darkling woods. That might be too standard of storytelling device to note, I let you decide on its placemenet. Emperor Hardin (talk) 05:31, October 19, 2015 (UTC)

Question Edit

Hey I'm extremely new to the Wiki scene. I joined because not all the Fates characters had their official art as their character profile thing. I found the 4-Koma and thought it needed to be added. I'll stop rambling and get to the reason for my message. I noticed you removed the picture for Felica. Was there something wrong with it?GaleforceFTWGaleforceFTW (talk) 18:57, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

File name was bad. We don't ask for super classified, but file names need to be more descriptive than just gibberish or "File:Image.etc" (which I think is the default?). In this case, File:Felicia 4-koma.jpeg would work. I notice you got it right with the Jakob one though...then reuploaded the image under File:Image.jpeg. Be careful about that.--Otherarrow (talk) 19:40, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

I honestly don't remember how I did the file name for Jakob or how I somehow defaulted it. XD My only experience with Wika is fixing grammatical errors and such on the Final Fantasy Wiki. GaleforceFTW (talk) 19:49, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

Well, I don't know if it is different on the default Oasis skin, but you should be able to pick your destination file name as you are preparing the upload. Hope that helps!--Otherarrow (talk) 19:58, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

As a heads up, the 4-Koma art isn't the "official" art as they were all done by guest artists and not Kozaki Are You Serious (talk) 21:24, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

The book itself is "official" and the art is probably as official as the DLC guest art from Awakening or other "alternate" art sources like the Super Tactics Book or the old TCG. In this case, Kozaki's art takes priority, obviously, but if it isn't around, the 4-koma art would take precedent, right?--Otherarrow (talk) 21:42, October 16, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, it should. I couldn't find any full-body pictures of any other characters outside of the ones Featured in the trailers. So 4-Koma is the only way to get those atm.GaleforceFTW (talk)

Er some guest keeps deleting a trivia bit I put on Chrom's page. Since they're a guest I can't contact them to ask why they keep removing it. I'm going to put it back but I thought I would let you know. GaleforceFTW (talk) 15:50, November 10, 2015 (UTC)

I think the reference is too vague to determine definite "canon" (two ns btw), so yeah, I have to agree that the reference is unneeded. Sorry.--Otherarrow (talk) 19:24, November 10, 2015 (UTC)

This has been bugging me, as clearly stated in the policies, the infobox should use the most recent artwork of a character with the exception of which the character is more important to the story of the earlier game. Therefore, I was wondering why we were using the DLC artworks for the infoboxes of characters like Ike, Micaiah, Eirika, Ephraim... instead of those from the games where they're more important? Sorry if this has been discussed and resolved somewhere else. -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 02:05, October 26, 2015 (UTC)

I think the problem is that, for most cases, the DLC art isn't a significant departure from their design for most people to notice, and even if it is (such as classes like Eirika or Seliph where their DLC class, and thus artwork, isn't even close design wise to their "normal" class), most people don't mind if the art is good. The DLC art people tend to contest are always, without exception, Micaiah or Ike, AKA the "bad" ones. Artwork that is well regarded, such as Leif or Alm or even Eirika (despite her radically different class) tends to, more often than not, get a free pass. So...hrm. While policy does say "most recent art", it also makes exceptions for when there is a major difference in role or relevance (such as Zephiel, who's more recent art isn't at all representative of his more iconic appearance and role). So policy does lean in favor of game artwork over DLC art (though I think Palla and Est would default to their old TCG artwork, as it is in the "character post" style that official art defaults to, and IS themselves has used the TCG art for official art purposes). However (and I see most of the DLC art reverters, for lack of a better term, doing this), the DLC art shouldn't be outright removed. It should be moved down the gallery where relevant (which, in terms of gallery order, should be after sketches and any other official art, but before "special" art like events or TCG). But I'm rambling now.--Otherarrow (talk) 03:22, October 26, 2015 (UTC)

Lol, you sure did give me a tough time to read all that. Anyway, in short, should we now replace the DLC artworks with the main artworks (or TCG artworks where more appropriate) and move the DLCs to the gallery section? As long as we follow what was already written down in the policy, people won't be able to debate over which they prefer. -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 05:09, October 26, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry about that, I got into a ramble. But yes, we should replace the DLC artwork with the official game art and move the DLC down. That was the tl;dr of my above post, sorry again. ^^;;--Otherarrow (talk) 15:20, October 26, 2015 (UTC)

Alright! That's great. Sorry I can't help replace right now as it's already late in my timezone. I'll just do the background removal of the artworks tomorrow =] -- Khang (talk)

Summary Edit

Sorry, it's spellcheck. Not minivan, it was supposed to say Ninian. Ajitunes13.

Oh right. Anywho, I don't think Ninian/Nils is from boxart. First I saw of it was a scan from one of the artbooks. 20th Anniversary I think?--Otherarrow (talk) 00:49, October 31, 2015 (UTC)

No, I've definitely seen it, I'm sure. Ajitunes13.

Well, in any case, like Eirika and Ephraim, it qualifies as it has been used as artwork separately from the boxart, while, again, the Fates boxart crops are literally just crops of the boxart and not used separately anywhere else (and why would they be? They are a bit specfic to the boxart's gimmick of two sides facing each other off).--Otherarrow (talk) 00:56, October 31, 2015 (UTC)

Berwick saga, and Bandit archetype Edit

Do you think you could tell me on Serenes what you think of the Berwick Saga info? This could help us sort out the classes, and how to link them. Also I was thinking isn't there kind of a mini archetype of recurring bandit group early in the game? Like the Galder Pirates, Verdane, Lifis Pirates, Ganelon bandits, ETC? To qualify, I imagine they'd have to appear for more then one map. Emperor Hardin (talk) 10:39, November 4, 2015 (UTC)

I don't like being PM'd on forums, can't you read my sig? Geez. Anyway, let's take a look.
Well, hrm. I dunno if whole groups can fit, but the "beginning of the game bandits" does seem like a recurring thing, an easy way to have early conflict without making the main enemy faction seem so weak that the heroes could beat them right off.
As for the class info, I think the big thing to remember is that, re:General: Armor Knight and General are unconnected in BS aside from both being armor units (compare FE1), so them not being visually or functionally similar does make sense. Also, likewise, Gigas Knight is another armor unit who isn't necessarily linked to the other two other than being the same "type" (like how Archers and Myrms are both infantry, but aren't linked by promotion or role).--Otherarrow (talk) 18:00, November 4, 2015 (UTC)
Ah ok, sorry I didn't know that. I'll keep that in mind in the future.
I've noticed while a couple games seem to have an opponent besides Axe using criminals as the first opponents like Sacred Stones, and Thracia 776, Fates seems to be one of the only ones not to have bandits in the first three maps. Don't quote me on this though, as I haven't throughly checked chapter data for all games. There's definitely an archetype of a pirate/Brigand/Thief groups being the first opponents faced.
On FE1, I think Armor Knights were intended to become Generals all along personally. I've heard the programming of FE1 has it so promotion items only promote to a specific class, IE: If an Armor Knight used a Knight crest to promote in the game data via altering the game's data, he'd become a Paladin, unless you altered the Knight crest to promote all users into Generals. This is different from FE3 where promotion items, such as the Knight Crest are capable of promoting two different classes into different classes.
Generals look alot like King/Emperor in terms of comparatively more streamlined armor, they also wield swords unlike Armor Knights. Gigas Knights look a whole like Armor Knights in Berwick, however unlike Armor Knights, they cannot wield large Shields at all, trading some defense for massive offense. They also all wield the Gigas Axe weapon. I'm wondering if Gigas Knight should link to Axe General, or not?
Promotions and class changes are much rarer in Berwick Saga unlike Tear Ring Saga or Fire Emblem. While nice to have, promotions are not really essential. Classes, especially of playable characters, tend to be extremely individualized, both graphically, and weapon wise, two characters can be of the same class, and wield different weapons for example. Promotion is once again based on character.
The only caps for classes seem to be weapon rank, and stats appear pretty independent from class. For example, Spear Soldiers are usually weak, but a few boss, and NPCs of the class are powerful.
Right now, Slayer leads to Berserker, this probably works for now anyhow. Slayer seems to be exclusive to Dean. While the class has no skills on its own, like most classes in Berwick, Dean has base Wrath, which in Berwick can only be used by Axe users, Dean is the only playable character to have it, though several Axe using enemies like Brigands and Gigas Knights have it too. Dean also has a high critical hit chance, so are you ok with Slayer linking to Berserker?
Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:12, November 4, 2015 (UTC)
Even so, what is there is there. Generals and Armor Knights are technically unlinked in FE1 (also, they have slightly different properties, Generals can't use magic swords, well, the one magic sword, but Armors can).
I'd probably err on the side of caution and keep it at Gigas Knight, especially since the General class in BS is completely different and Gigas Knight predates RD and the Axe General.
Like with TRS, we can use the playable's personal promotions to tell what class was intended to become what, as, from a look at things, there is even less deviation in promotions between character than in TRS, with the main differences being character specific traits (indeed, I think the only "split promotion" is that one Cleric promotes to Priest, the other to Oracle). So, for example, we can logically say Free Knight promotes to Paladin, even if only the "unique" Free Knights promote to Paladin and there are differences in equipment or skills between them. On the other hand, we can't "guess" that Armor Knight promotes to Gigas Knight, since the one Armor Knight the player controls doesn't promote.
Yeah, Slayer to Berserker is fine (in part because I am not sure we need to disambig Slayer).--Otherarrow (talk) 22:28, November 4, 2015 (UTC)
Its interesting to note anyhow. I'm guessing its one of the cut content from FE1.
Okay Gigas Knight stays Gigas Knight, and no promotions will be mentioned because the playable Armor Knight doesn't promote, and they use different equipment.
That sounds perfect, and I approve.
Alright Slayer to Berserker stays
Do you have any thoughts on the early Bandit archetype.
Speaking of Archetypes, I think Derrick might fit pure Jagen more then Ward in Berwick Saga. Ward's growth are hardly great, but they're servicable, and higher then others. Ward is also required in the final chapter, and cannot be used in side missions. On Japanese sites, I've seen Dean called Axe Navarre, so I'm wondering if he'd fit? Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:44, November 4, 2015 (UTC)
Derrick is technically optional, ain't he? Also, Ward seems to match the role more anyway. And I already commented on the bandit thing.--Otherarrow (talk) 23:52, November 4, 2015 (UTC)
Derrick is technically optional, but he's significantly cheaper then anyone else.
So you're unsure if whole groups can fit?
Any thougths on Dean as a Navarre, he does fit the personality. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:55, November 4, 2015 (UTC)
Probably because he sucks Probably because of who he really is? Shrug.
Yeah, but otherwise I can see it.
I think him being "Axe Nabarl" is more due to his stat spread and skills than his archetype role? Shrug.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:12, November 5, 2015 (UTC)
Hahaha, I heard he's extremely limited use early on. Its kind of interesting how many "Bad Growth" Jagen's are useful throughout the game, I was playing FE3 again, and Bantu really can pull his weight around for surprising reasons!
I'll see what I can do then.
Yeah, you may be right? I'll look into Dean more later.
Finally I think Garo in Tearring saga might be an Oifey Jagen. The thing is while his growths are good, and he learns good skills, Garo is held back by his low movement, being unable to promote, and being in class(Pirate) with lower stat caps then anyone else. If he was a Warrior with no other changes, he'd actually be much higher Tier wise. Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:36, November 5, 2015 (UTC)
So do you think Garo should stay in the pure Jagen archetype category?Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:46, November 5, 2015 (UTC)
Yeah.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:22, November 5, 2015 (UTC)
So what should determine the difference between Jagen and Oifey archetypes? Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:46, November 5, 2015 (UTC)
Not the person to ask. If I recall from seeing the scans from a million years ago (which I can't find to confirm >_>), IS doesn't distinct between the two. I think the general gist of the fandom is that Jagen's have utility as a crutch for the early game, but no real potential; while Oifey's have that same crutch but are at least usable in the long run, if not top tier units like Seth or Titania. (though if I recall, in actual gameplay, Jagen is actually more valuable than Oifey, as while Oifey is the better in a vacuum, in the context of their games, he's completely outclassed by the kids, while Jagen at least has an early lead on the FE1 early units. But I digress)--Otherarrow (talk) 00:53, November 6, 2015 (UTC)
Well then its already confusing then. Dagdar is useful throughout the game as well, as is Ward(whose growths are better then some other characters), and Gunther's base stats late in the game can again compete with the others. I think the only thing separating the two should be the strength of their growths, not how useful they are in the long run. Garo's growths in Tear Ring saga are actually above average, and he is one of the only characters to get six skills, however a variety of factors hold him back Tier-Wise. As what holds Garo back is unrelated to his growth, rather its his being in a tier 1 class with low movement, and having no promotion, I think he should be an Oifey. Emperor Hardin (talk) 04:54, November 6, 2015 (UTC)

FE6 Dragonpike? Edit

I tried to make a Dragonpike in FE6 using cheats, but failed to find out its item digit. So I went to Serenes Forest and saw that there isn't a single mention of the lance being in FE6. So I went to Japanese sites (specifically and, again, found no mention of the lance. I wonder if the damn thing even exists, and if it does, if its stats present on it's page on the wiki are correct. 21:52, November 4, 2015 (UTC)

Beats me. I think there are prototype builds around, some with exclusive content (like FE8 having a few characters not in the main game), have you checked those?--Otherarrow (talk) 22:10, November 4, 2015 (UTC)
Actually, I have just checked the prototype build for FE6 and the lance IS there. Seems like it was cut from the finished game. Checked some other things and found similarly cut Meteor tome (11 Might, 65 Hit, 5 Crit, 12 Weight, 5 Uses) and a weird Mercenary/Hero only sword (9 Might, 70 Hit, 10 Crit, 9 Weight, Brave effect, don't remember uses). And yes' the stats present on the wiki are correct, I guess it should be noted that the lance is only in beta-FE6. Thanks anyway. 22:25, November 4, 2015 (UTC)
More beta only weapons? Even Meteor? Add them if you can. Thanks for the help.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:30, November 4, 2015 (UTC)

Gallery order Edit

Should be written down somewhere, don't you think? Even I had hard time remebering or figuring out the correct order, and you don't want to be the only one who have to correct them all the time, do you? -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 00:38, November 16, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, it probably should, especially if you think it's something worth having and not just me being incredibly anal over something minor. I wrote up my preferred gallery order on my (now outdated somewhat) example character page, and while that's not the best (as some things have come up since that I dunno what to do with), it gets the idea across. We can do a list or a visual example like that one?--Otherarrow (talk) 01:58, November 16, 2015 (UTC)
Side note, Knight Guy's page is hilarious. lol XD
User:Tiero (talk)Ephraim (Lord) 02:23, November 16, 2015 (UTC)

Nah, something minor can be important sometimes, especially it's actually helping reading easier since we aren't dividing the galleries into more sections. I'll just go ahead and create a page in the Project namespace, make sure you add something I missed. -- Khang (talk)

Quick commentsEdit

Emperor (TS unused)

TS Unused Emperor

Bahanuke most definitely played a large part early on, I'm sure. The Unused Emperor class, which by the way uses Swords, Wind, Fire, thunder, and Dark Magic, looks identical to the Emperor. They're both emperors too obviously. Also I moved Garo to the Oifey archetype due to his good growths. Emperor Hardin (talk) 06:55, November 17, 2015 (UTC)
I don't think the Emperor is unused, at least the same way the FE7 Tactician or the GBA Peer is technically not unused. I think it's a cutscene class used for Bahanuke's one appearance, but I don't know for sure. Either way, it being able to use so many weapon types does imply a larger role. Maybe Khang can check if he gets that far into the game? (likewise, I wonder if the unused King and Queen classes are actually cutscene classes for the King and Queen of Salia)--Otherarrow (talk) 15:06, November 17, 2015 (UTC)
The Emperor class was definitely meant to be battled, unlike the likewise unused King, and Queen classes in the game data. Its certainly a version of the Emperor class from FE3, and FE4, again unlike the unused queen class, which seems to be a ally civilian class. It even resembles the Emperor Class, and is in the armored category. Just like it, it can't use Light Magic, but can wield virtually any other weapon.
As for Emperor being unable to use Lances, or Axes, none of the armored classes do for some reason in TS. I have several theories on this if you're interested, tell me.
As for Garo, thats fine if he's not an Oifey either. Interestingly in Kaga's idea for an updated Tear Ring Saga, Pirate would've been a Tier 2 unit that promoted from Sailor. In Berwick Saga, Pirate can steal, and search/Rob houses like the NPCs do. Emperor Hardin (talk) 17:28, November 17, 2015 (UTC)

Links to voice actorsEdit

Despite being part of this wikia for years I'm not very familiar with the rules for external links on here. I've noticed that for voice actors we normally put links to their wikipedia page so I assume that it's our first choice. If they actor/actress doesn't have a wikipedia page is an imdb page acceptable? User:Tiero (talk)FE13 Swordmaster (M) Map Sprite 03:42, November 18, 2015 (UTC)

Genei Ibun Roku and Character classesEdit

How should we treat classes in the game? Should we treat them like any other Fire Emblem classes? Are You Serious (talk) 03:59, November 20, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, probably should. Of the classes we know of, all but one (the alternate Chrom promotion, who's name escapes me) are existing classes, even if used in different contexts (Berserker as an Armor Knight promote, for example). And yeah, they do seem to function like "normal" FE classes, they have different traits and stats, advantages and disadvantages, different weapon types, etc. It's just that they are now applied to a different style of gameplay, you know?--Otherarrow (talk) 20:47, November 20, 2015 (UTC)

FE3 Info Edit

Soldier actually works with every map like most playable classes, and can use the arena, unlike any other NPC class. This along with a player palette, indicate they were to be playable, so I'll add them later to the unused content. My personal guess is they were going to be a dismounted form. Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:04, November 20, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I remember you mentioning that before, which is why I wasn't sure on that one. Soldier working anywhere implies it's loaded with the rest of the "classes the player can always potentially deploy" implying playable I guess? FE3 seems weird under the hood.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:25, November 20, 2015 (UTC)
Another interesting thing is Fire Dragon is the only Dragon thats loaded everywhere. For the other Dragons, its the Dragonstone transformation by a Manakete that allows them to work on any map. Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:34, November 20, 2015 (UTC)

Happy Holidays!Edit

Hey Arrow!! It's been a while! How are you on this maybe chilly November? --Bettafishrule2579 (talk) 07:53, November 24, 2015 (UTC)

Since the whole point is that those are the SMT types, should we be linking them to the FE closest matches at all?Edit

Either that or make new pages for Fire, Electric, Force, Expel and Death (we'd have to make one for Ice either way). Also Tharja/Kiria learns Flux which is classified as a Death spell. And as for Wind = Force, Shiida/Tsubasa is a Flying unit shown to be weak to Force spells. Are You Serious (talk) 21:41, November 25, 2015 (UTC)

Ah, fair enough.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:42, November 25, 2015 (UTC)

Class talk Edit

All this talk on classes here, reminds me how on the other Fire Emblem wiki, there's a small discussion on whether Armor Knight, and Lance Armor Knight should be seperate, when Axe Fighter, and Fighter are counted as the same(my personal thought is yes, as the TCG considers them the same). Anyway, my stance is Minerva's personal variant should be mentioned, or given its own page like Pegasus Knight (Cipher). Maybe I should've put this on the project page. Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:47, December 2, 2015 (UTC)

I think I remember seeing a similar topic like that on gamefaqs. I believe the user wanting to split Axe Fighter, and Fighter was trying to mess with you, personally. I added the alternate spellings to the Armor Knight variations to the Armor Knight page if you're interested. Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:34, December 4, 2015 (UTC)

So what about Light Priestess, and Jugdral's Druid, do you plan a merge? Also on a similar note, any thoughts on FE2 Baron, and General, should they stay seperate?  Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:44, December 4, 2015 (UTC)

Jugdral doesn't have a Druid. Also, same ruling as to why TRS Bow Rider isn't Forrest Knight or Iron Knight isn't Great Knight: We shouldn't judge on retrospect. Baron being an Armor promote doesn't mean it's General, because General wouldn't be an Armor promote until the next game. (Also, third tier class with completely different appearance aside from edited map icon; later fleshed out in Jugdral) EDIT: Also, bring your concerns up in the thread, that is why it's there. Bugging me won't do jack.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:51, December 4, 2015 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for giving your stance. Next time, I'll post on the forum, sorry to have bothered you. To explain my view, I'm undecided. Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:45, December 5, 2015 (UTC)
If you're ok with me talking(this time is about berwick saga, hence why its not on the forums), I've noticed that few units in Berwick seem to have good defense growth. Daoud is pretty much the only unit who on average beats Derrick's defense base of 12 at max level. It seems like most units rely on shields for defense, while the enemy Armored Units tend to have comparitively ridicilously high  defense. Besides Daoud, Marcel, and Ward also act like armored units, I've read. Marcel has low movement until he reaches level 15 due to having the slow skill, and the only difference between him and an armor knight is lack of vulnerablity to hammers(which aren't as prevalent as in Thracia 776). Speaking of which, I hear Marcel isn't well liked as a unit by players. Ward has a high base defense of 10, and unlike Derrick has a defense growth, as well as the Bodyguard skill allowing him to protect adjacent units. Finally do you think we should link the class variations in Berwick Saga's list to the regular class, IE: Imperial Sniper links to Sniper page? And should the Spear Soldiers be considered Spear Soldiers, or Soldiers, I'm leaning towards considering them Spear Soldiers as they did show up together in FE4's unused data? Emperor Hardin (talk) 07:17, December 5, 2015 (UTC)
If you think it's what should be done, do it. You don't need my permission to contribute. Geez.--Otherarrow (talk) 15:51, December 5, 2015 (UTC)

New page? or Arch Mogall? Edit

Hey there Otherarrow I have been wanting to make an edit for a long while with something but was not sure where to place it. You see I dunno if you have seen it before or not but there is a monster in Tear Ring Saga that is a giant eyeball called an arc opus or something. Kaga and the 64. Edit

There's also an interview where Kaga mentioned remastering Thracia 776 to be easier/better, and releasing it on the 64, so I added that to the Fire Emblem 64 article. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:58, December 10, 2015 (UTC)

Wiki skin Edit

First official complaint regarding the skin > Forum:Changes to entire site's skin. Any thoughts? -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 03:22, December 11, 2015 (UTC)

Not anything that might help, at least currently. I really am proud of the skin, but I don't want for it to cause problems for people either. What they suggested, an alternate "plain" skin for people who can't use the current one for whatever reason: is that possible?--Otherarrow (talk) 03:32, December 11, 2015 (UTC)

The only option I could think of right now is having the Monobook skin reverted to the original "plain" theme so that if anyone is not able to withstand the current blue theme, they can permanently switch to it with the user preference (login required though). -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 03:48, December 11, 2015 (UTC)

Geh. I really like this skin, so since I default to Monobook, this kinda bugs me. Then again, I've noticed that Monobook kinda doesn't fit the idea (invoking the Old Mystery stat screen) due to the article space covering up the right side almost entirely. But that is minor. Hrm. Is there a way we can change the skin colors without outright changing skin? Like, a button you hit if you want it a different color?--Otherarrow (talk) 04:10, December 11, 2015 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it's not feasible, at my current level of coding at least. Even if I could manage to code something like that, it would only be temporary, requiring the user to click the button again to change color every time the page is reload. -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 05:09, December 11, 2015 (UTC)

Oh, hrm. That does sound annoying. Well, there goes that idea.--Otherarrow (talk) 06:02, December 11, 2015 (UTC)

Manaketes in Fates Edit

I made a small topic on the Manakete talk page. Your ok with me mentioning that the word Manakete isn't used in Fates, right? I'm not suggesting a split to be clear, the Dragons in Fates have similar enough history/biology/gameplay to Manaketes. Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:26, December 18, 2015 (UTC)

So what are we going to do about the Hidden Weapon situation, since Iron Kunai, at least, was renamed to Iron Dagger Are You Serious (talk) 21:35, January 26, 2016 (UTC)

Check to see what the weapon type is identified as (example: Iron Blade is a Sword type, not a separate Blade type). If it is Dagger, then go ahead. (Since this weapon type is exclusive to Fates, I wouldn't be surprised if the localization picked a "faction neutral" term for it, like "Throwing" or something, but that's just me guessing.)--Otherarrow (talk) 22:13, January 26, 2016 (UTC)
Okay, the weapon type is called Shuriken, but there's still the matter of what to do with Iron/Steel/Silver Daggers since those pages already exist. Merge or no? Are You Serious (talk) 03:07, January 27, 2016 (UTC)
Merge. We have precedent for differing Japanese name at least.--Otherarrow (talk) 03:23, January 27, 2016 (UTC)

Fates Localization names Edit

So Holy Lancer/Sentinel is Spear Master now. Do you think we should merge spear master with Halberdier, or keep it in Sentinel? Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:49, February 10, 2016 (UTC)

The Japanese name is precedent for keeping them together, and it isn't the first time classes that have the same name in Japan have been arbitrarily renamed between games (see also, Great Knight/Axe Paladin). Unlike Trueblade/Swordmaster (uh), "Spear Master" isn't a preexisting class, so this isn't "localization renamed "Holy Lancer" to existing second tier class" but "localization gave Holy Lancer a new name entirely". But if the community thinks there is significant difference between, then split I guess?--Otherarrow (talk) 16:38, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I posted similar topic on Sentinel Talk page. The primary concern is that Soldier class exists in Fates, so if Spear Master is merged with Halberdier, it may cause confusion. Also, keeping it in Sentinel is not a great idea because Spear Master should be consistent with Swordmaster and Sniper as a second tier class. So, my suggestion is keeping two separate class trees since Spear Fighter is a new class. In other words, Spear Master should have its own page. Great Merchant (talk) 11:54, February 13, 2016 (UTC)
If classes like Bow Knight, Wyvern Rider, arguably Dread Fighter, (if TRS counts) Gold Knight are any indication, a class being one tier in one game doesn't mean it can't be "repurposed" as a lower or higher tier in another game. Hell, even "traditionally" first tier classes like Pegasus Knight or Armor Knight have been second tier in at least one game. In other words, simply saying "Sentinel is a third tier class and Spear Master is a second tier class, therefore they shouldn't be on the same page" is foolish and without precedent. This case is a bit more complicated than that, and unlike with Swordmaster/Trueblade, the localization didn't give us an easy out.--Otherarrow (talk) 15:33, February 13, 2016 (UTC)
I do see your point about second tier and third tier. From the last sentence, it seems that you have not decided what to do with Spear Master Class. Anyhow, second tier, third tier is not the only raeson for proposing splitting.
First, because of precense of soldier class, class tree mixup can be very confusing to some people, especially new comers to the series. Heck, if soldier class was not there, I would suggest to keep it as it is or move it to halberdier. You and I, who played older FEs, are pretty familiar with class tree system of Fire Emblem, so it may not be much of an issue. But, it will be definitely confusing to people who are trying to learn class system ( e.g Soldier - Halberdier - Sentinel, Spear Fighter - Sentinel???). Keeping two separate class trees makes everything very simple.
Second, Spear Master should be consistent with other classes. Localization team could have choose to keep Japanese name for Trueblade for Swordmaster class. Same could go with Sniper considering that Swordmaster, Sniper, and Spearmaster share one kanji that is identical. Yet, they choose to maintain second tier class tree based on 3DS FE, Awakening. So, it would be safe to infer that localization team wishes to implement basic structure of Awakening class system to fates. It is definitely seems out of place when Swordmaster and Sniper stays same as Awakening while Spear Master keeps Japanese naming policy. Great Merchant (talk) 20:01, February 13, 2016 (UTC)

Until this gets sorted out, I suggest we link directly to Spear Master instead of [[Sentinel|Spear Master]] in case we decide change the redirect later Are You Serious (talk) 21:44, February 13, 2016 (UTC)

Hi I'm relatively new to editing wikis but I noticed that there's no mention of the ability to use the Talk command with Sakura and Hinoka in Fire Emblem Fates chapter 4 Hoshido the latter of which gets you a concoction.

Then add it? I don't know much about Fates (see the top of this page) so I am not the person to ask about these things.--Otherarrow (talk) 18:15, February 25, 2016 (UTC)

An unregistered user keeps reverting a change on the "Yato" page for FE14 Edit

A user keeps insisting that it is "Yatogami" and yet they don't have proper knowledge of "Ateji".

Japanese has specific readings for the sword AND in game it is referred to as "Yato-no-kami".

Masahiro Sakurai also refers to it as "Yato-no-kami".

Can you please address this, as an admin?

Yeah, I had to revert this before, but it seems some people won't let up. I'll lock the page, sorry for the trouble.--Otherarrow (talk) 18:52, February 29, 2016 (UTC)

Reply When PossibleEdit

I was wondering if it is possible to make a page that has all classes and skills with descriptions side by side because i find it tedious to jump back and forth between pages. DatPhoenix5546 (talk) 21:24, March 6, 2016 (UTC)

Bond Units? Edit

Hey there.  I had noticed that this wiki lacked any mention of the Bond Units in FE Fates, which are a pretty useful new feature in the game, so I created this account to make a page for them.  Being that I have absolutely no wiki editing experience, it's probably in agreement that it was not that great of a page, but at least it was something.  I had created that page in order to bring at least some attention to the topic in hopes that maybe some more experienced editor could clean it up and contribute more and/or better information.  But the page was deleted shortly after being made.  I was just curious as to why exactly, because if there was something I did wrong, I'd like to be able to learn from my mistakes so as not to make them again.  Lorrif22 (talk) 23:58, March 9, 2016 (UTC)

Ah, sorry. It looked like a spam page, with it's informal writing and templates put inside templates at seemingly random. Not familiar with Fates see. You are free to remake it, and I'll clean up where I can.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:14, March 10, 2016 (UTC)

No problem.  I can see why you thought that.  Nothing screams "spam" more than some random new guy making a cruddy page on something that nobody seems to know about (based on my attempts to search for any info at all on the topic).  Only really IGN has any info, and not all of it is accurate.  Anyway, thanks for replying so quickly.  Really wasn't expecting a reply that fast.  Lorrif22 (talk) 00:34, March 10, 2016 (UTC)

Might be around for a little while Edit

Hey pal, it's been a while! While looking some stuff up as I play Fates, I noticed a few things that needed doing and I felt like editing so I've doing a bit of writing. I might be contributing again for a little while as long as I'm in the mood so if you've got anything you'd like me to do, please let me know.

Quote ClutterEdit

Hello there, I have a suggestion to propose for the Fates character pages. In order to reduce the clutter on the pages, shall we transfer the quotes to separate pages for each individual character, much like what has been done for support conversations? ----MoroseLark User - Talk 03:30, March 12, 2016 (UTC)

Class Navigation Template Edit

I have done some reorganisation of the template, but I feel like my choices for arranging the components are lacking in precision (too broad). Any ideas on how best I can categorise the classes? Also, how should we arrange the order of the classes? In chronological order of their appearance in the series, perhaps? Thanks in advance for any help you can render! ----MoroseLark User - Talk 15:15, March 23, 2016 (UTC)

That's probably fine actually. I don't see any section too bloated or unorganized or anything. The only way I could see is to divide it further into class sets (like, all the Cavalier variants together, all the Mage variants, all the Dark Shaman Whatever variants, all the Pegasus variants, Dragon variants, and so on) but that might be too specific and end up with tiny sections and a template that's too long length wise. So unless you got a different idea, it's fine as it is.
As for order, I've always tried to keep them in "related classes grouped together, then sorted by chronological order", which the reorganization retained (since I had already fussed over it enough in the past). The exception to this are Pegasus and Dragon Rider as well as Lopto Mage, which I put before Pegasus Knight/Wyvern Knight/Dark Mage to hint that they promote to the latter classes, though this might not be necessary for the template.
Also, I have no idea how to do "classes who have appeared in multiple tiers" like Bow Knight.--Otherarrow (talk) 19:50, March 23, 2016 (UTC)

DLC CanonEdit

Just out of curiosity, is the Awakening DLC canon or more specifically the first 12? I thought that technically they are non-canon appearances considering the Einherjar are not exactly the characters themselves, but rather phantom copies sharing their personalities and not exactly their experiences? Even the Einherjars in game are non-canon appearances and are not them really. I mean DLC is kinda a gray area considering not everyone will have them and they have no real impact on the main story of Awakening aside from the cool bonuses. Dunno, if you prefer it the way it currently is I will leave it as is. I just want to get some insight before we have do the same treatment to the other 11 DLC Einherjars of Fates or even all Einherjar characters that appear on those maps. And I suppose that applies to the amiibos too.

Anyways TL;DR. Just want your opinion of DLC's relation to the story canon for these Einherjar characters.—Nauibotics (talk) 23:22, April 1, 2016 (UTC)

They are probably as canon as the Super Smash Bros appearances (and the Fates amiibos that follow from that): Not part of the character's "official" history, but within our scope and worth noting for completion's sake. As long as the articles make clear that these are Einherjar copies and not the "real" characters, I don't see a problem?--Otherarrow (talk) 02:15, April 2, 2016 (UTC)
Okay, gotcha. Just wanted to know. So should we try and collect info on all the other ones since Marth is not the only important DLC Einherjar? —Nauibotics (talk) 02:18, April 2, 2016 (UTC)

Should We seperate Axe/Sword/Bow Armor Edit

Cipher and fates support illustrationsEdit

Does the card packs have need of a gallery with the cards associated to them? Serenes forest have them. Speaking of which, shouldn't we expand the articles related to the card game? Ours is bare and bones. Should the support illustrations be also in the supports page? If so, tell me.-- 21:50, April 5, 2016 (UTC)

Do what you think is best. I have no knowledge in Cipher or interest in Fates.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:15, April 5, 2016 (UTC)

Shadow dragon scripts and series templatesEdit

Should someone make a template for the articles of games in the series set in a continent? Ex: Akaneia series, tellius series, etc. Also, what about shadow dragon scripts? It should be made only the new chapters or not? For even though it's a ds game. It IS a remake of the one from nes. -- 17:32, April 7, 2016 (UTC)

Probably not. There are only three "series", so I can't think of what would go on such a template.
I think the FE1/3 Book 1/11 scripts should probably be drawn from Shadow Dragon primarily, as those are the only "official" English versions and I don't think there were major changes. At most, we'd include and note conversations exclusive to each version (such as how Old Mystery shuffled some of the recruitment and associated conversations to make up for cut chapters).--Otherarrow (talk) 18:30, April 7, 2016 (UTC)

Actually, there are four, and with the string of fates games that soon may be a necessity. If you say so... But what about the gaiden chapters?

PS: why there's not a legacy section on the akaneia series? Why delete it?-- 21:01, April 7, 2016 (UTC)

Ah right, Akaneia, Jugdral, Elibe, Tellius. My mistake. Also, "string of Fates games"? It's one game divided into three, and the wiki considers them three routes of the same one game.
I don't understand. Shadow Dragon is the version of the game with the gaiden chapters, and since the script pages would be based on SD (with sections taken from Mystery for Mystery exclusive events), the gaiden chapters would be included by default.
Because it was literally a section header with no content. Do not create headers just to have headers.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:08, April 7, 2016 (UTC)

Take this as an example: if you certain, then look the sd script category, only two are there, and i'm quite sure the gaidens are nowhere to be seen.

If the scripts are missing, then add them, simple as that. Include the Gaidens as well. Cross reference with Old Mystery for any events exclusive to that version (as Old Mystery shifted recruitment and some events around to make up for cut maps). You have the OK to make script pages if that is what you are asking?--Otherarrow (talk) 18:20, May 9, 2016 (UTC)

more or less. what i want to know is whether i should use the localization or the original names. Because, even though it's names in the west are official, characters and chapters reference the original instead of the localized ones. Caeda for instance, is still named shiida at her page, even with games like tokyo mirage sessions refering to her as such. The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

Use the names being used for the pages. (I think the only time the current NoE names differ from the NoA names are Shiida and Nabarl, so it shouldn't be too noticeable.) And NoE English actually came out first, hence the names (and no one actually wants to go through all the effort of changing these massively interlinked pages over equally official names...)--Otherarrow (talk) 03:26, May 10, 2016 (UTC)

"Akaneia Series" Akaneia Saga removal Edit

I am responsible for adding a minor section detailing the central protagonists of the Akaneia Saga chapters on the "Akaneia Series " page. I must understand what forced this extra bit of information to be removed, as I firmly believe that it should be placed back in that specific area. While the Akaneia Saga chapters are not a main title for the Fire Emblem series, they technically take place in the Akenia series, so I must request that this information can be added back in.

Marioman517 (talk) 06:02, April 17, 2016 (UTC)Marioman

Akaneia Saga isn't a full game, more of a series of one chapter sidestories. I've counted them before as the equivalent of New Mystery's DLC chapters, which were likewise one chapter sidestories focusing on a different set of characters each map. To be honest, I question the need for a "protagonists" section on the series pages at all. Do we really need a section just to say "Marth is the main character of Shadow Dragon and Mystery of the Emblem"? It seems kinda superfluous.--Otherarrow (talk) 14:52, April 17, 2016 (UTC)

Template: ScrollnavEdit

Is there any particular reason scrolls are classified down into their own template when they are technically a sub-branch of Tomes? --Thenewguy34(Other) 01:04, April 23, 2016 (UTC)

Who did that? No, merge them. All the other "Hoshido variants" are on the template of the main weapon type. EDIT:At most, it might be tough to know what spell is what Anima type due to the animal names, but observation will work for that.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:26, April 23, 2016 (UTC)
I just came to that realization as well. I thought it would be that simple, but it will take time. I can get some information on three of the scrolls pretty quickly though, so expect some possible moves soon. EDIT: I have classified three of the tomes after having viewed their animations in-game. Rabbit Spirit is probably the most difficult to identify though, I fully expect someone to challenge me classifying it as Wind magic. --Thenewguy34(Other) 01:49, April 23, 2016 (UTC)
I actually feel that it is best to group all the scrolls under one template. The main hierarchy of the scrolls is actually modelled after the first few animals appearing in the Chinese Zodiac, and displaying the scrolls together will help make this more apparent. And not to mention that trying to forcibly classify each individual scroll into any of the classic magic types based on animation alone does generate its own set of problems; how are scrolls like Rabbit Spirit (pink clouds?), Dragon Spirit (water), Paper (literally wads of paper), Malevolent Text and Calamity Gate supposed to be determined? If you guys are going to insist on separating the scrolls by weapon type, I won't try to stop you, but at the very least, leave the Scrollnav template on the relevant pages. ----MoroseLark User - Talk 13:02, May 10, 2016 (UTC)
Hey, I know nothing about Fates and am mainly playing this by ear. Do what you feel is more correct in this case. If you folks who played the game feel Scrolls shouldn't be forced on the various Tomenavs (or whatever), you don't have to do so. Revert if nessicary. I dunno.--Otherarrow (talk) 13:27, May 10, 2016 (UTC)
Sure thing! Just thought I'd provide my input on the matter. ----MoroseLark User - Talk 13:39, May 10, 2016 (UTC)

Class Uniforms Edit

Question: am I allowed to add a section for uniforms of classes? Or is it too irrelivant? It's just that the Soldier class page has that section while other class pages don't. Reason why I'm asking you is cause you're the admin and I just like to be certain about what I'm allowed to edit on the wiki besides grammatical errors and clean-up vandalism--McAlastair (talk) 00:27, April 24, 2016 (UTC)

I see no problem. I know some classes have it, such as Myrmidon and I think Manakete? If you think something should be added, add it. Don't worry about permission.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:03, April 24, 2016 (UTC)
Hi again mate! So I've already started adding sections onclass pages for uniforms but I'm gonna need help. I have done my research on armor components but when MoroseLark had a look at what I said about Mercs, he said I was to informal. Plus I haven't had to much time to go and add uniform sections due to my studies back here. I'm doing what I can with classes from Awakening and Fates but as for the rest... I might need some help. This isn't a request, just a friend asking for a favour (the friend part is up to you to decide).McAlastair (talk) 07:27, May 11, 2016 (UTC)
I'm not the best at descriptions, so I don't know how I'd be able to help. If I stumble across it, I might do clean up, but aside from that? Sorry.--Otherarrow (talk) 13:32, May 11, 2016 (UTC)

Template Format Weapon StatsEdit

I noticed that template formattings for weapons stats are inconsistent with each weapons article; see Iron Sword and Steel Sword. I am honestly unsure how many of these were changed, but I noticed a potential edit war and I would honestly like to ask you which template formatting we should use. I prefer Steel Sword's templates, but it is your call. EDIT: I just notlate was added today. I had not realized this when I had written this message. I am going to mark Template:WeaponStat for deletion, if you approve of the new template you can remove the proposal for deletion.--Thenewguy34(Other) 00:34, April 24, 2016 (UTC)

I see no real problem in it, though I wish there was a way to easily convert it from the old template to the new without too much replacement. I can see the benefit in having a centralized template that fits better with the Oasis skin (its dimensions are roughly the same as the modern CharStat templates, which were made with Oasis in mind). Besides, it was made by Khang and he knows what he is doing.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:00, April 24, 2016 (UTC)

Merric Archetype CriteriaEdit

Is there any reason you removed Ricken and Hayato from the list of characters under the Merric archetype? --Thenewguy34(Other) 23:50, April 25, 2016 (UTC)

Ricken fits none of the criteria other than "has wind magic". He isn't the earliest mage, has no mentor character, etc. Hayato seems to be based on Ricken the same way Mozu is based on Donnel, so he likewise probably doesn't count (though who knows? Would Fuga serve as a Wendell figure for him despite not being a magic user?) Merric is one of those archetypes that if not policed can easily bloat to include every playable mage ever, so we really shouldn't try to dig for exceptions.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:10, April 26, 2016 (UTC)
After looking at Hayato and Fuga's support conversations, there is a mentor figure seen in Fuga, but it is not any typical Wendell-type of figure you have seen. I mean, there is a clear mentor figure described, but it is more like a fatherly-mentor type than a teacher in magic. Most of the dialogue between them you have to consider comes from this support script. --Thenewguy34 20:43, May 11, 2016 (UTC)
I don't care about Fates so stop asking me about Fates. How's that for a hint?--Otherarrow (talk) 00:28, May 14, 2016 (UTC)

Calamity GateEdit

You implied that breaking down Template:Scrollnav would involve putting the scrolls into separate magic type navs. However, given that we have to rely on animations to determine this, we might have a problem with Calamity Gate. Calamity Gate's animation gives the animation of dark magic; however, Dark Magic is only accessible on Fates with the skill Shadowgift, which would make such a classification complicated, given that Calamity Gate does not require Shadowgift to be used. I just want to know what you think I should do in classifying this weapon. --Thenewguy34 00:41, May 10, 2016 (UTC)

I'd just put it in that "Other" section next to the Empty Book. Out of curiosity, do the other Scrolls map to the types nicely? I still feel weird with the idea of giving the scrolls "special treatment", since they are functionally no different than other tomes aside from name, and thus should be sorted as such, right?--Otherarrow (talk) 03:23, May 10, 2016 (UTC)
Scrolls work like tomes, though some of them do not uniformly adhere to Fire / Wind / Thunder / Light / Dark concepts. I just put those that don't into the Other section. --Thenewguy34 22:57, May 10, 2016 (UTC)
Hrm. I am having second thoughts on if splitting them is the best idea, but shrug. Not a Fates guy, so do what you feel is best. (also, I noticed we have no magic type to put Brynhildr under? Weird.)--Otherarrow (talk) 23:19, May 10, 2016 (UTC)

HINT: Otherarrow, if I am not being too abrasive, read the topic above this one --Thenewguy34 23:27, May 13, 2016 (UTC)

Awakening issuesEdit

Now that the children are sort of canon, should they be included in the list of known ylisseans, plegians, etc? And to that extent, the fates kids as well. Also, should be made a list of notable locations for the awakening countries, like the capital ylisstol, who isn't even mentioned at the page?-- 21:21, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

Weren't the Awakening kids always canon though? Also, do we know where they live and what countries they claim citizenship of? If I recall, Awakening's kids legally "don't exist" and all basically go off and do whatever after the game, so as not to mess with their baby counterpart's lives.
Yes? If something is missing, add it. You don't need permission to edit.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:49, May 18, 2016 (UTC)
Technically though, their citizenship is up in the air based on their father. I mean, if a child is the child of Lon'qu, then they would probably be citizens of Ferox, but if they are the child of Virion, then technically they are from Rosanne. —Nauibotics (talk) 22:01, May 18, 2016 (UTC)
What about Lucina? She's born to chrom, regardless of the mother, and is a Ylissean as far as i'm concerned.-- 00:34, May 19, 2016 (UTC)
That's already noted on the Ylisse page. Every other child is very situational.—Nauibotics (talk) 02:12, May 19, 2016 (UTC)
Oops. I actually meant Owain, since he's part of the royal family and all that stuff, but nevermind. By the by, shouldn't the yllistol page include the future past, since it has an important role in the end?-- 02:32, May 19, 2016 (UTC)
Nope, because in Lon'qu's ending, Lissa goes with him to Ferox. Same with Virion. Lucina is the only child always born to a fixed location.—Nauibotics (talk) 02:34, May 19, 2016 (UTC)
I just remembered something: should we include the before awakening pre-battle quotes from chrom and frederick? I'm not sure of that. And repeating my question: shouldn't the yllistol page include the future past, since it has an important role in the end?-- 02:54, May 19, 2016 (UTC)
Again, you don't need to ask permission to edit. If you think something needs to be added, add it.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:58, May 19, 2016 (UTC)
I know, i know. It's a just ok check thingie, because who knows how much trouble little things like these cause.-- 03:10, May 19, 2016 (UTC)
Hi. I'm probably know the answer to that already, but since that hidden truths 1 occurs on the world of awakening, and the characters are still the same on that part, does the help descriptions of them belong on their awakening or fates quotes page?

Ps: should we include the avatar boss quote in the fates page?-- 02:49, June 3, 2016 (UTC)

...Hidden Truths is a Fates DLC chapter. It should be included on the Fates related pages.
Which Avatar?--Otherarrow (talk) 03:13, June 3, 2016 (UTC)

Awakening amiibo one.-- 03:46, June 3, 2016 (UTC)

Since the world is the same from shadow dragon, with only a few changes concerning nation and geography, a unification of the continent pages would be plausible?-- 20:26, July 25, 2016 (UTC)
Probably not. The political climate has completely changed in the ~2000 years between games, so it'd be more hassle to merge them.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:20, July 25, 2016 (UTC)

Takumi Twitter PostEdit

Hello! Forgive me for reposting the post up so many times, I'm rather new to the whole wikia thing, and I really should have contacted you before doing that. I actually wasn't aware that I could *I'm a noob*.

About the twitter post and where I got it from, it came from one of my friends. We were having a conversation yesterday about Fire Emblem, and he brought that up to me. I didn't believe him at first either; thought it was just some joke. Also, the fact that it was from a while ago, and no one brought it up made me a bit skeptical too. Though he said it was deleted very quickly.

But then he actually sent the post to me online. The post looked pretty legit looking, so I had one of my friends (who knows a bit of Japanese) translate it for me. He said that it said something like: "【fire emblem fates】takumi was originally planned to be a female by the name of takako, but was finalized to be a male." I then posted it on a FE page on FB to see if anyone else saw it, and two other people commented saying that they saw it as well. One of the people mentioned that they weren't sure if they were reading it right, while the other said it confused them when they saw it back in January.

As for why the VA knew this and why he deleted it? I wouldn't know. The VA could have said it as a joke, but then deleted it afterwards. Or maybe the VA heard it from someone else.

I'll post a link to the screenshot right here: Twitter Post

If you (or anyone else) knows someone who can read Japanese and can also 100% confirm what it says, that would be awesome. I'm going to try posting this in groups other places to see if others may have seen this as well.

Again, sorry for reposting it so many times.

Of course, you have the final say on whether or not this should be on the page.

---NoahFin (talk) 23:12, May 25, 2016 (UTC)

Well, something like that could easily be forged, even if by a Japanese fan or someone who knows the language. Also, if the VA did intend it as a joke, it's not really worth noting either. Even if just a passing tweet, you'd think the FE fansites would have at least mentioned it, yeah? Forgive me for being suspicious, but yeah, the tweet being deleted and this screenshot someone conveniently took happening to show up months later? It's fishy, that's all. I'd wait until we can find some way to verify it as a thing.--Otherarrow (talk) 23:43, May 25, 2016 (UTC)

Plagiarism to investigateEdit

The second paragraph in Shigure's Personality section seems to have been copied word for word from the Fates second generation character sheet on TV Tropes. It matches the entry in his folder for "The Comically Serious". Is it possible for you to investigate this? 17:03, May 28, 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, the paragraph is a straight copy. People, please, write your own content. Don't steal what someone else did.--Otherarrow (talk) 18:48, May 28, 2016 (UTC)

Tellius Series and Skill ScrollsEdit

I notice that, in skills that appear in the Tellius series, there are no separate articles for the scrolls that assign a single skill (ie not the Occult scroll). I find this to be a discrepancy in terms of providing scroll locations, as the Tellius series is only one of two Fire Emblem series that uses items to assign skills (not factoring in the potentiality of TearRing Saga). I feel like it seems rather unprecedented to provide the location of, let's say, the Vantage Scroll on the article about the Skill Vantage. The Occult is the only exception to this, because it assigns different skills to different classes. Should we create articles for every skill scroll that appears in the Tellius series? --Thenewguy34 23:04, June 15, 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, we probably should. A few skill scrolls appear in the 3DS games (mainly for DLC skills if I recall) and if I recall, skill manuals appear in Thracia 776? So yeah, we probably have enough cause to make pages for them. (if Tellius has a scroll and Jugdral a manual for the same skill, I'd probably count them as the same item to reduce redundancy btw.)--Otherarrow (talk) 00:20, June 16, 2016 (UTC)
Do we use the Judgral name or the Tellius name if your parenthesed point occurs (ie Ambush manual versus Vantage (scroll)? --Thenewguy34 02:52, June 16, 2016 (UTC)
Localized names everywhere except the page itself in context of the unlocalized game. For example: mention it as Ambush in the context of Thracia...but if a character in that game joins with it, we call it Vantage on their page. Same policy we use for items, skills themselves, etc.--Otherarrow (talk) 03:37, June 16, 2016 (UTC)

Editing the Class history sections for Tearring, and Berwick saga Edit

You agreed on Slayer counting as a Berserker, right? Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:54, June 19, 2016 (UTC)

I think so, yeah? Both are axe exclusive classes with crit rate bonuses, yeah?--Otherarrow (talk) 00:55, June 20, 2016 (UTC)
Technically due to the mechanics of Berwick Saga, its Dean who gets the critical bonus, and Wrath skill, but I think that could count as similar enough. Especially as Dean is the only Slayer anyhow. Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:22, June 20, 2016 (UTC)
From what I know, most of the traits we typically associate with classes are actually character traits in BS, with at most the class giving us a general idea of what to expect and what they promote to. (For example, all Spear Knights are horse guys with polearms, but the properties of the individual Spear Knights differ from character to character.) I'd still consider it close enough, especially if he is the only one.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:52, June 20, 2016 (UTC)
Thats basically it, almost everything is tied to character rather then class, even canto is a horse skill in BS, though a few unique enemy human units have it. Alright thats how I currently have it. You can take a look at the Berserker page, and see what you think. I mention on the pirate page that they usually have thief related utility in the game, as both the playable pirate, Axel, and several enemy pirates have thieving skills. Emperor Hardin (talk) 06:12, June 20, 2016 (UTC)

Good job!Edit

Thanks for faithfully working on this wiki for so long, big or small. I'm proud of you! ❤ The Tomato Fairy (talk) 15:59, June 20, 2016 (UTC)

Thank you sweetie! I will keep up looking out for this wiki! I won't let you down!--Otherarrow (talk) 17:23, June 20, 2016 (UTC)

Falchion ImageEdit

Hello! On the Falchion page, a new image was added to the gallery, but I am not 100% sure I put it in the right order, which I know is important. Could you check, please? While you are at it, can you spell out the ordering that you want in detail, so that I may have a reference for the future? I know it is very specific and makes sense, it's just that it's been so long and I've forgotten it. Also, there seems to be a bit of an edit war occuring on that page with regards to the featured image, as I had to fix it twice, but I left a message on the new member's talk page explaining the policy and hopefully that settles the matter by the time you read this. Thanks!--Aivass Remurias (talk) 02:55, June 25, 2016 (UTC)

It is written in our policies after I talked it out with Khang! Check here!--Otherarrow (talk) 03:02, June 25, 2016 (UTC)

Excellent! Thanks!--Aivass Remurias (talk) 03:12, June 25, 2016 (UTC)

Just making this message to let you know I like what the guy did. I think its a fair comprimise. Still, I didn't break any wiki policy. I read it and it said nothing about using the most recent image for a subject. I looked, believe me. Thanks for inputs. I like the way it looks now. Spoiler TagsEdit

Heya! This is just a small question. How long you want us to wait before the spoiler tags become unecessary, or if we should apply them to other pages if needed?—Nauibotics (talk) 00:22, June 28, 2016 (UTC)

Probably until the next game is announced/released (like, once FE15 is out, we'd remove spoiler tags for Fates and TMS). Spoiler tags for older games may seem a tad much, since they've been around so long and so many people have experienced them.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:23, June 28, 2016 (UTC)
Why don't we just leave them be? There are always people who haven't played the game, and I personally see no harm leaving them. -- Khang (talk)@fandom 01:33, June 28, 2016 (UTC)
Fair enough point. Though on the other hand some major spoilers are unavoidable due to the article format (such as the BK or Masked Marth, both under their "real" names), and spoiler tags won't help that. Shrug.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:39, June 28, 2016 (UTC)
I'm not saying I was planning on taking them down in the immediate future. I'd just wanted to know since, as of right now, only Fates and TMS pages have these spoiler tags and I just wanted to know if we should give other past FE games the same treatment or when these spoiler tags become redundant after people are given enough time to play the game and experience the story. I mean these spoiler boxes only became apparent because people became much more touchy on this wiki of spoilers after Fates was announced and released. As of now, I mean the only time people were "touchy" of spoilers was only for Awakening and Fates.—Nauibotics (talk) 01:43, June 28, 2016 (UTC)
Technically, we should have had it since long before. As the series grows, so does our wiki, it got more and more readers, and there goes some bothered by the spoiler. And it's not like this is unreasonable, so I think the other FE games should have the same treatment. -- Khang (talk)@fandom 03:22, June 28, 2016 (UTC)
My view is basically if one wants to add the spoiler tags, they should and no one should remove them...but they aren't a necessity either. Basically, it's up to the editor's discretion. If that makes sense?--Otherarrow (talk) 03:27, June 28, 2016 (UTC)
So basically, leave them as they are now. But later on we can remove them once their necessity is no longer needed. I'm not saying that we don't need them right now, but at some point, removing them will do little harm.—Nauibotics (talk) 09:12, June 28, 2016 (UTC)

Image troublesEdit

I know the policies, sorta, but we have to add artwork of the characters in all their appeareances, like awakening, on their page. PoR and RD have thousands of characters with different appereances, sometimes drastically throught the games they appeared in. Honestly, i'm baffled that we don't have something like this yet, unless we count the male/female avatars, which we don't.-- 02:18, June 30, 2016 (UTC)

Hm? I am pretty sure that the PoR and RD character pages include all of the character's appearances in each class they can assume (for example, model as a Myrmidon, then as a Swordmaster, then as a Trueblade), with the changed portraits for the few who get them included.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:52, June 30, 2016 (UTC)
Actually, I meant full body artwork.-- 03:29, June 30, 2016 (UTC)
Those tend to only exist for the base class, and are already on the character pages (heck, they were likely the first images added).--Otherarrow (talk) 03:32, June 30, 2016 (UTC)

No, no. I mean at the top of the page, in the template, I think that's what it's called?-- 04:47, June 30, 2016 (UTC)

The character template has full body artwork in it though? Usually from RD unless they only got art in PoR (such as Ashnard). Is there a page in particular you are talking about?--Otherarrow (talk) 13:29, June 30, 2016 (UTC)

Perhaps this will illustrate the situation: -- 15:32, June 30, 2016 (UTC)

That is indeed Ike, as he should be. I don't understand the problem you are having?--Otherarrow (talk) 15:36, June 30, 2016 (UTC)

There's artwork of him in PoR, and there's artwork of him in RD. It needs to have a thing to show how he and all others looks like in each game.-- 16:11, June 30, 2016 (UTC)

No there doesn't. The PoR artwork is in the gallery, and both depict him in his home games (in other words, how people would recognize him). Having tabs used for literally every art would bloat the template to no end and serve no purpose, especially with the gallery existing.--Otherarrow (talk) 16:26, June 30, 2016 (UTC)

To Answer your question on Sergeants from TRS Edit

They have no weapon ranks, however few classes can use Lances dismounted, even among the enemy classes. As such enemy Sergeants, particularly during indoor chapters, tend to use Lances. Pretty much the only other effective class that can use Lances indoors is dismounted Commando Knight, and Dark Knight/Dark Soldier. Among the player base, even Ezekiel tends to use Lances alot after promotion. Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:49, July 2, 2016 (UTC)

Hmm, I see. Well, that seems more to do with the "no dismounted lances" thing than anything to do with the class itself. Basically, "it's a promoted class that uses lances on foot, so deploy it with lances" in other words. In fact, I think foot lances in TRS are basically Soldier, Lance Knight, Sergent, Dark Knight/Soldier, Commando Knight, and technically male Dragon Knight (since Raffin has the same "dismount class" before and after his promotion). But I do get where you are coming from.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:08, July 2, 2016 (UTC)
As you said it relates to no dismounted Lances, and "it's a promoted class that uses lances on foot, so deploy it with lances." Pretty much those are all the dismounted Lance classes, note that the enemy rarely uses dismounted Commando, or Dragon Knights except for unique characters. Mind if we make a note of it, as well as how it could get retroactively be compared to Master of Arms as a Non Mounted/Armored unit that uses all three melee weapons? Also I made some changes to the Hunter page, wanted to note their enemy exclusive appearance, and their association with criminals since their debut. Tell me what you think of it? Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:26, July 2, 2016 (UTC)
The Master of Arms thing is a coincidence and I can think of no other similarities between the classes other than weapon use.
The Hunter page is fine.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:04, July 2, 2016 (UTC)
Do you think we should mention that Sergeant is one of the only promoted infantry classes that can use Lances? Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:14, July 2, 2016 (UTC)
Do what you want. You don't need to ask permission to edit.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:15, July 2, 2016 (UTC)

Family treesEdit

I not sure if this is vaild or not, but there's a necessity for genealogy trees of the royal families to be made? I know we don't have any, but considering various games have various countries with their dynasties explained throught several games, i thought this to be something to think about.-- 20:37, July 3, 2016 (UTC)

I know Serenes Forest has some for at least Jugdral, but I think it might be useful to plot out our own. At the very least, making family trees for all the different games would be interesting. (TRS in particular has a complicated family tree that I'd love to see sorted out).--Otherarrow (talk) 21:07, July 3, 2016 (UTC)
Can i suggest to start with the akaneia series? Because fates just added one member to it, intentionally or not.-- 21:50, July 3, 2016 (UTC)
Sure. A interconnected "Akaneia/Awakening" line for the Altea-Ylisse line might be fun (even if we get a "long line" to show time between Marth/Shiida to First Exalt, First Exalt to Chrom's Dad). Remember though, we should likely include all important lineages, not just the main Lord.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:26, July 3, 2016 (UTC)

Alright, I managed to get a hold of something to model family trees. Any thoughts or...suggestions (though I can't really help with that as I'm not its author)? -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 14:19, July 15, 2016 (UTC)

That looks perfectly fine to me.--Otherarrow (talk) 16:11, July 15, 2016 (UTC)
Hey, i discussed with khang the other day about making the trees on the countries page or similar or making on a separate page altogether. Care to input in?-- 03:08, July 23, 2016 (UTC)
I'd do it on a separate page. Several games have interlocked family trees, after all. I'd do it as a subpage of game or continent maybe?--Otherarrow (talk) 15:50, July 23, 2016 (UTC)

Can you or khang fix whatever's going on at the Ylisse family tree? First, the format was wrong, now the code has gone bonkers and the entire tree is in haywire.-- 13:25, October 25, 2016 (UTC)

Recruitable characters with enemy sprites. Edit

It's because the majority of these DLC characters are enemies with you, you fight them in most of the Outrealm maps and get to recruit them after victory. Why shouldn't I document what skills they have when not on your team?… Well, I wouldn't mention what Lunatic+ skills they get unless they have that on Hard or Lunatic because I've yet to beat Awakening on Hard. Because I have limited space on my SD card (can only have Fates or this game on it), I'm not even sure if Micaiah loses Anathema after you recruit her. --Breakin'Benny (talk) 11:16, July 5, 2016 (UTC)

So? They join you with the same stats, portrait, etc after the battle, so for all intents and purposes, you are recruiting them after the Outrealm map is concluded. You totally should document the skills and equipment they have as an enemy (and note I never removed that), but the actual icon should be blue like any other recruitable enemy. (Also, why are you linking weapons as just icons that are directed to pages?)--Otherarrow (talk) 13:24, July 5, 2016 (UTC)
Because I feel the weapon icons generally speak for themselves once you can distinguish what their names are, but the Ragnell one was mainly for trying something out. That's why I feel making the GIFs for classes in Awakening/Fates should link to the pages describing those... How about I just link the weapon rank icons instead? Even a mentally handicapped moron could tell what a symbol should represent if they've seen it many times and memorized the keyword. *sigh* If you want me to, I could gladly give the recruitable enemy DLC Einherjar their enemy sprites if it weren't for the fact many of them don't exist on this Wiki yet, such as the females in unisex classes. --Breakin'Benny (talk) 15:00, July 5, 2016 (UTC)
Because, 1.not every reader knows what every weapon looks like, and if we label one, we should label them all out of consistency, even if it's the same weapon across multiple templates. 2.The game itself shows weapons with the "Icon Name" format, even games like the NES ones or Fates that don't have separate icons per weapon. Weapon ranks is another story, but we've been doing it in "Icon Name" format throughout the wiki as well and changing it on a whim based on a assumption probably won't help anything (and I sincerely doubt you'd go back and change every character page for this anyway). I mean, it's not like it hurts to have them in Icon Name format, you know?
As for Enemy sprites, use them only for the DLC chapters where they show up solely as an enemy (as in, not chapters where you recruit that character at the end). That is how we've been doing it. SpotPass characters are "neutral" NPC, recruitable DLC are player, nonrecruitable enemies in DLC are enemy. That always seemed to work for me. (And yeah, the lack of enemy icons for every class/gender combo is something we should work on.)--Otherarrow (talk) 15:11, July 5, 2016 (UTC)

Chat feature Edit

Hi, I can see that a couple of users have been expressing their thoughts towards having a chat feature enabled on this wiki. Do you think we should enable it? Or if you think it contains some kind of disadvantages or harms, you should explain to them. -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 00:41, July 21, 2016 (UTC)

I don't think a chatroom would get any real use; after all, the active userbase barely uses the forums as it is. I've seen chat enabled in a few wikis, and those chatrooms are basically ghost towns. I think the only chat-related thing I've seen not die out is the FFWiki's IRC channel, but even that was more "a place where FFWiki users hang out" than anything that was actually part of the wiki proper.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:32, July 21, 2016 (UTC)
Additionally, the only chatroom I know is alive is the one on Nukapedia. --Breakin'Benny (talk) 18:31, July 21, 2016 (UTC)
I have seen that chat actively used on many wikis actually, but oh well, you got the point, we rarely use any communicating means on this wiki to have the chat enabled. -- Khang (talk)@fandom 00:46, July 22, 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Otherarrow!

My name's Abdallah and I run the YouTube Channel, AbdallahSmash026 (  I'm reaching out to you to see if you'd be interested in a collaboration regarding my Fire Emblem Fates Walkthrough series on my channel.

What I'm looking at doing is involving the Fire Emblem Wiki into our "Special Edition" Giveaway contest ( we're having in conjunction with my Revelations playthrough.  In this giveaway, entrants will be asked to visit and bookmark this site for all their Fire Emblem needs.  I can also make an entry that has them follow any related social media.

In exchange for the promotion on my end, I just ask that one of your admins link each chapter video somewhere on each of the corresponding pages.  I have a full Chapter-by-Chapter playthroughs of Birthright and Conquest.  I'm currently working on uploading Revelation as we speak.

Please let me know if you're interested in this collaboration, as I utilize this Wiki numerous times throughout my time with Fates.  I feel that by placing a link to a specific chapter playthrough will be very beneficial to any visitor, aside from reading the text of what happens.

My email is  I look forward to hearing from you!

While I am sure your LP is nice and I wish it the best, I would have to respectfully decline affiliating the wiki with it. Your content does not reflect the wiki's (or vice versa) so linking it would be misleading or potentially misrepresentative of both of us. Likewise, I do not want the wiki to be used to "advertise" a non-resource the wiki has no involvement with. Please understand.--Otherarrow (talk) 20:36, July 26, 2016 (UTC)

Prep for the Hoshidan Festival of Bonds Edit

Long time, no see, eh? Anyway, you probably know that the Hoshidan Festival of Bonds has ALOT of potential conversations. Took me a while to figure out that there are more than 200 potential conversations between the parents and the children. If the DLC does come to the States, the Kingdoms and the Bushland (aka.: USA, Europe and Australia) can we seperate said conversations from the script page and place them on their own pages? I'm only asking this for if it does get released, but I just want to confirm with an admin as to if I can or can't, because if it does come the wiki's gonna have one LONG script if we shoved the conversations onto one page. Just saying.

Signed McAlastair (talk) 09:53, July 29, 2016 (UTC)

Long time no see? Have we met before? Anyway, do as you think is best (though I want to say the Awakening chapters this thing is based on does not have split scripts). I have never played Fates and have no interest in ever doing so, so coming to me asking about Fates stuff will likely just resort in a disinterested "do whatever you feel is best".--Otherarrow (talk) 23:16, August 1, 2016 (UTC)

who are you? he doesn't know you and he hates fates. do what you want, you're part of the wiki. -- The Tomato Fairy (talk) 23:14, August 1, 2016 (UTC)

ouch. No offense but, talk about a sharp tongue.-- 23:34, August 1, 2016 (UTC)
Well, I think it should be best to keep it all on one page as we did for the Future Past scrips which had the same magnitude of dialogue as the Hoshidan Festival of Bonds. The thing is, we might not even get this DLC in the end since its been over two months since the last Heirs of Fates came out and we haven't heard of any DLC since. When and if it is announced, we can discuss it then.—Nauibotics (talk) 23:56, August 1, 2016 (UTC)
Don't be rude to Tomato (and not just because she's my girlfriend), isn't it kinda a jerk move to comment solely to insult someone? (especially since I agree with her frustration; I've made my opinion on both Fates topics and people asking permission to do anything. Be bold people!)
And if the chapter dialogue length is equal to Awakening chapters like Future Past as Nauibotics says, I really don't think we need the split script pages.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:17, August 2, 2016 (UTC)
When I said "long time, no see" I was referring to that other topic I started on the talk page under "Class Uniforms." Since there was more than 200 conversations in the DLC, which is approximately double if not triple the Future Past script when translated by the way, I just had to ask. So let me get this straight: we don't know when the DLC is coming or if it's coming to the west at all, but if it DOES come than I can split the pages if I think that's the solution, is that right? Sorry if that sounded rude, I just wanted to be certain.
Signed McAlastair (talk) 08:14, August 2, 2016 (UTC)
There is way more indeed, however making individual pages would entail 22 separate pages plus the page solely for the chapter alone. The thing is, with proper wiki sub scripts, we can divide it by child in just one section alone. If you want to search for a specific child conversation with a parent, up to three (=) allow you to instantly click on them and see them whenever. Regardless if we make 22 separate pages per child or 1 mass page, we're going to get the same results. But yeah, for now, this issue isn't really important at this moment since Nintendo has yet to even announce even if they are going to release the Xenologues.—Nauibotics (talk) 08:21, August 2, 2016 (UTC)
Ok, that makes sense. My apologies for all the confusion, I'm still learning how to edit wikis to the same extent as you guys (and tomato faries). So what you're saying is that one can quick search the conversation they want without having to spend 15 minutes scrolling down the page? Like I said, the "long time no see" was a reference to the "Class Uniforms" topic on this talk page. I just tend to try to be friendly to others even if they're complete strangers from across the pond. Again, Sorry for the confusion.
Signed McAlastair (talk) 20:59, August 2, 2016 (UTC)
It's not a problem. Yeah, the Content drop box for every single page goes up to 2 sub-headers on the page, so the Main header would make all convos one section, the first sub-header is each of the children themselves, the second being each of their convos with their mothers, it will all be displayed on that Content drop box. Mind you, the page will be pretty lengthy, but it still ends with the same results without needing to make multiple sub-pages.–Nauibotics (talk) 22:32, August 2, 2016 (UTC)

Non-game nav Edit

Hi, I need your input for the non-game content nav -> Template talk:NonGame. -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 03:25, July 30, 2016 (UTC)

I been looking over some of the pages of the wiki, and there is serious consistency problems. Take the nations ones for example. Some have history and geography, while others do not. Heck, some even have flags while others who have one are not present. Take fates for example: (i know your opinion on this game is very... vocal, but this is merely the most recent example.) the nations flag symbols are so explictily present on their logo, yet there's not even a sign of it on their respective pages. Can you look into it, please?-- 16:31, August 2, 2016 (UTC)

If one page of a type has features that others don't have, it's mostly because we haven't gotten around to it yet. We do have a ideal for each page of each type, and if a page does not reach it yet, do your best to make it so. For example, you can add the national symbols onto their respective pages and add what history or geography you know.--Otherarrow (talk) 16:57, August 2, 2016 (UTC)
Still, i think i would feel better if you verify it, beacuse i think it's a bit more than that.-- 17:05, August 2, 2016 (UTC)
I am not sure what I am verifying tbh. What are you asking about?--Otherarrow (talk) 17:08, August 2, 2016 (UTC)
How can i explain... Sometimes subjects seems to be the same, but they don't match for one reason or another.-- 17:25, August 2, 2016 (UTC)
I...don't understand how my first reply doesn't answer that?--Otherarrow (talk) 17:39, August 2, 2016 (UTC)

Did you even read why I said there, is really well specified. Also, more people than not think of Mufasa than not, just because you don't agree, doesn't give you the right to erase it. Finally the way you say "people who are kids of lords" applies to every archetype, if you say it like that, or you will tell me you really can't see the similarities? You’re a little too full of yourself. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rifas Club (talk • contribs).

I did read it, and it got to the same problem that most of the "fan made" archtypes that got purged had: it was simultaneously so generalized that it could easily bloat to include near anyone (again, the basic "people who are kids of lords" thing is how is sums up as, which can easily bloat further once you taken in implications from endings and pair ups), while also being so specific that most of the people listed don't count. The big added details are "fixed hair color" and "father is Lord in same game"...when only Lucina is a Lord-ling in a game with variant hair colors and adding the second condition only adds Seliph. And Shigure doesn't count from the get go because Azura is not a Lord. So you end up with an Archetype of one person, and it isn't even the person the Archetype is named after. Big red flag of "not a thing" there...
And of course Mustafa is not a Camus. Mustafa was blackmailed by Gangrel. His whole sympathetic point was that he was being blackmailed and wouldn't have fought Chrom otherwise. If he was a Camus, Gangrel wouldn't need to blackmail him! The whole point of the Camus archetype is the sympathetic, even honorable, enemy general whose blind loyalty to his nation and/or lord makes them fight the heroes. They are supposed to be tragic yet sympathetic due to their commitment to their nation leading to their downfall. Mustafa, who fought Chrom against his will due to having his family put at knife point, is by no means a tragically loyal figure. A tragic figure maybe, but that isn't what the archetype is about. Seriously, Mustafa is basically a nicer Eagler, why doesn't anyone try to claim Eagler is a Camus? (Note: don't actually do this)
Listen, I know you are new and all, but lay off the insults. We at least try to be respectful around here. Consider this a warning. Don't be Devil.--Otherarrow (talk) 23:54, August 25, 2016 (UTC)

Because Shigure is the son of a noble and a main character, with fixed hair color, with a protagonic role (heirs of fate). You may not like it, but he fits. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rifas Club (talk • contribs).

"Child of noble" wasn't the proposed archetype. It was "child of Lord". Child of noble makes it even more potentially general and vague. And Azura's status as a main character doesn't make her a Lord (after all, Xander and Ryoma aren't Lords either). So the only part he fits is the preset hair color. (Also, even counting Heirs of Fate as a separate route and not just extra content, that is like counting Quan as a Lord and then including Leif in this archetype)--Otherarrow (talk) 00:47, August 26, 2016 (UTC)

Question concerning weapon image Edit

I wasn't aware that we don't use weapon images cropped from the character artworks. I'd ask for a reasonable explanation cuz this might need to be included in our policies/rules for others to know. =] -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 01:00, September 9, 2016 (UTC)

Most weapons that are featured in a character's official art tend not to be clear showings of the weapon, being usually held in the grip of the person's hand, at a angle that doesn't show the full detail of the item, sheathed, or some combination of those. Also, I don't feel it's very honest to claim to have official art for a weapon and it's just cropping from a character's artwork.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:39, September 9, 2016 (UTC)
Well, it is indeed as you said, they're not in full detail. But I still think we can overlook that when they're no available concept arts or full-detailed artworks, and it's pretty obvious that the cropped ones are still clearer than their in-game screenshots (besides, those screenshots also have the weapons held by someone). We may just drop the 'official' part if that's the only problem left. -- Khang (talk)@fandom 03:30, September 9, 2016 (UTC)
With screenshots, we can at least try and get a good angle of the weapon being shown. It's not perfect, but still. I always saw it as a stopgap measure until we get a more suitable image anyway, so the pages have something (especially for weapons that don't have official art of any kind, like the X's etc weapons). I think Grima's Truth is literally the only weapon we can get a good crop from official art (and I don't think it's that good a picture of it anyway...) Is there concept art or a model of the tome or something? It seems, for lack of a better word, amateurish to me to be just cropping from Validar's art and calling it a day.--Otherarrow (talk) 13:14, September 9, 2016 (UTC)
Alright, I see your point, I'll have this written down and correct some pages that don't follow it. -- 00:02, September 10, 2016 (UTC)

Vestaria InclusionEdit

Since we have TearRing and berwick, why not include Vestaria? After all it's handled by the same creator. And it's considered somewhat a successor.-- 16:17, September 22, 2016 (UTC)

I really have no problem with it, and I think it'd be cool (after all, it is probably the closest we are ever going to get to a third TRS game anyway). I was worried a tad about if it would be OK to suggest so (I remember how TRS had a big backlash about it being added to the wiki initially), but seeing someone else suggest it does give me hope that it'd be fine. So I'm all for it!--Otherarrow (talk) 16:28, September 22, 2016 (UTC)

Eh, i asked because it was odd having those two and not this one. I really won't be able to add much since there's no current translation to it.-- 18:43, September 22, 2016 (UTC)

True, and who knows how long a fan translation would take. Still, it's good to see if there is interest!--Otherarrow (talk) 18:45, September 22, 2016 (UTC)

Vestaria Saga on Wiki Edit

Should I put Vestaria Saga info on the wiki, such as on the history section of the class pages? Emperor Hardin (talk) 17:52, September 22, 2016 (UTC)

Someone just asked about that, huh. Anyway, I think it may be too soon to be adding info to class pages and all (I don't even know what classes are all in it). I think we should start with character and plot info and see how folks react to that.--Otherarrow (talk) 18:24, September 22, 2016 (UTC)
I noticed that mistake, right after I completed the edit. Do you want me to move this into the discussion right before this? I'll list the classes of the game in a sec. Emperor Hardin (talk) 18:44, September 22, 2016 (UTC)
Vestaria classes I know of, note class section refers to the official websites section on classes:
  • Lord: fights with a sword, usual Lord. On class section.
  • Princess: uses Staves, has Charisma, alot like Lachesis's class. On class section.
  • Cavalier: Uses Lances/Sword, usual FE cavalier. On class section.
  • Armor Knight or Guard Knight: Uses Lances, High Defense, but low speed. Has the Adjacent Bodyguard skill(隣接護衛) which gives +3 defense to ally units standing by them, which seems like it should make into the main games as an Armored skill, honestly. On class section.
  • Eagle Rider: Seems to be a pegasus knight that rides a Gryphon, the only flying class I know of. Uses Lances.
  • Hunter: Like the FE hunter, uses bows, seemingly without Archer or Bow Fighter. On class section.
  • Sword Fighter AKA Swordmaster or Myrmidon: Uses various swords, critical hits, and high speed. On class section.
  • Axe Fighter: Uses Axes, High Strength, Low defense, Typical FE Fighter. On class section.
  • Thief: Typical FE Thief, but uses only Knives, a subset of swords. On class section.
  • Mage: Typical FE Mage aside from being able to use Holy Magic in addition to Anima(One category like in the gba games). On class section.
  • Cleric: Typical FE cleric. On class section.
  • Priest: Seems like a bishop, uses staves, and Holy magic.
  • Sphere Mage: Little known aside from apparent use of Dark Magic.
  • Ranger: Bow only cavalry.
  • Vesta Mage: Uses anima, and Holy. Presumed to be the Merric archetype's class.
  • Maracen: Looks just like the Mamluke class of TRS. Uses Regular Bows, Swords, and Melee Lances, as Longbows, and Javelins have separate weapon rank icons it can't seem to use to my basic knowledge.
  • Sweet Bird: Uses anima, and Holy, little info known.
  • Berserker: Uses Axes, seems powerful, and like the FE5, and onward Berserker. Little info known.
  • Meleda Princess: Aparrent unique class, uses staves.
  • Spear Knight: Looks just like the FE class rather then the Berwick version.
  • Wyvern Rider: Seen only in trailer, presumed playable, nothing known.
Enemy Exclusive classes
  • Mercenary: Uses Swords, high speed/skill, on class section.
  • Axe Mercenary: Uses Axes, high strength, on class section.
  • Pirate: Uses Axes, walk on water, typical FE pirate, on class section.
  • Brigand: Uses Axes, walk on water, typical FE Brigand, on class section.
  • Thief Head(シーフヘッド): Seems very similar to Boss. Described as leading Brigands, Pirates, and Thieves. Said to have high stats, and superior weapons. Pictured with an axe, so I assume they can use them, on class section. EDIT: I just read they use Axes, and Broadswords.
  • Skeleton: seen only in trailer, nothing known.
  • Wyvern(Possibly a Fire Dragon as its red): Seen only in trailer, nothing known. EDIT: Its a Fire Dragon.
Hope that was helpful, any thoughts, or comments?Emperor Hardin (talk) 19:00, September 22, 2016 (UTC)
Do you have any thoughts on the class info? Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:45, September 26, 2016 (UTC)
I kow I'm late to the party, but I think it is inappropriate to add Vestaria Saga content to this wiki. Vestaria is NOT a Fire Emblem product, regardless of whether people wish it was or not. I fully support members going out and creating their own wiki for the game. But ultimately this is the Fire Emblem Wiki, not the Shouzou Kaga Wiki. James Pierce (talk) 00:51, October 30, 2016 (UTC)
I'm a little late to the party as well, and all things considered, I stand by and agree with Jame's Pierce's position on this.--Aivass Remurias (talk) 03:18, January 4, 2017 (UTC)

Class list rewrites, and Proposed Trainee name change Edit

I did some edits to Thracia 776's class list which you can see here . Class tier means here how much EXP an uplayable class is worth, and if hacked as playable, gains. Tier 2 meaning gains exp like a promoted class like a Paladin. I'll have to check the exp of ballisticians, and unplayable classes. While no unplayable classes promote due to promotion being linked to characters in the game data, the unplayable classes weapon ranks, and associated NPCs were used to determine them. Some enemy Generals have a really high Bow Rank, this along with the obvious link, is why I put Bow Armors promotion as General even though within the game its linked to character.

I was thinking of renaming Trainee to 0th Tier, as a few classes that work like a trainee class in stats, EXP worth, and gain, are unplayable.

Tell me your thoughts for both. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:07, October 14, 2016 (UTC)

What other classes are you suggesting being "0th Tier"? If I recall, Trainee is an official term, used to describe the Trainee classes in at least the Japanese version, so I think moving an official term to an unofficial one is kinda bad.
The class list looks fine. Noting that stuff on other pages is probably a good idea if possible.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:02, October 15, 2016 (UTC)
FE5 Soldier, and Archer are worth less EXP then others classes, and if hacked to be playable, gain significantly EXP then a 1st Tier class. Some other versions of the Soldier class might qualify too, its hard to say right now as I haven't checked.
I can take out Pirate to Berserker, though it is interesting to note that the latter is usually seen leading gangs of the former, and Brigands. But would you be ok with the armor Knight variations keeping General as their promotion on the list?
I just remembered, do you think the two versions of Brigand should both be on the class page? Short version, some enemy Brigands use a different variation of the class, which is otherwise the same, but with higher base stats then the one used by Marty, and early game enemies. Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:14, October 15, 2016 (UTC)
Armor Knight to General should be fine. It seems pretty implied?
I'd note both, compare Fighter and TRS Merc on the Merc page I guess.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:28, October 15, 2016 (UTC)
Definitely, for example, there is a General boss with an E-Rank in all his weapons but Bows, which is C-Rank.
I Kept it, adding a note saying they have improved base stats. Should I say they promote to Warrior, or leave it blank?
I linked Tier 0 to Trainee, is that alright with you?
Poison Arch (class) exists as a page, do you want it merged? I find the ballista variations alot less notable then the Armor variations. Note the Ballistas only use one weapon. Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:56, October 15, 2016 (UTC)
Leave it blank, that's fine.
Sure? It's close enough really.
Probably should merge? If you think that is how it should be.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:07, October 15, 2016 (UTC)
Got it.
I'll put merging it on my to-do list.
I was thinking of noting what kind of characters, playable and unplyable, usually appear in classes. Like how Hunters are somewhat roguish, or outright criminal, General characters are usually authority figures, Swordmasters are usually loners, ETC. If I did so which section would it fit in, or if I make a new section to note the class's theme, any ideas for what would it be called? Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:55, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

There are two users who are asking for permission to upload the text-free artworks of cipher. Can you give them the go ahead?-- 19:11, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

Eh? Why would they need permission? Textless art has been uploaded before.--Otherarrow (talk) 19:12, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

I know, but they insisted. Something about avoiding trouble with the fandom's terms of use or similar.-- 19:18, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

I don't understand what they mean? Maybe Khang might understand better? I'm drawing a blank personally.--Otherarrow (talk) 19:25, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

I think they said that "a user may not submit content that they did not create or receive permission to upload."-- 19:27, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

I somehow doubt IS will be giving us the go ahead to upload the Cipher art. I think this falls under fair use or something, same with the other art? Again, not the person to ask, I don't really understand what they are saying. Again, maybe ask Khang?--Otherarrow (talk) 19:35, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

I'm one of the two users (the other is SirNeptune) that you're referring to and the reason I brought up the deal with permission is because it's in Fandom's Terms of Use. Does that Cipher art fall under fair use? I just want to stay on the safe side of things and avoid any kind of trouble. I'm pretty sure that Khang would understand what I'm talking about since I just discussed something similar on his talk page yesterday. ~ Shaman of Earthtalk 19:55, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

It should, as far as I know? We've uploaded textless Cipher art before with no problems after all. That's how I understand it, at least. Sorry for my ignorance on the matter.--Otherarrow (talk) 19:56, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

I know that textless Cipher art is on here, but I don't know if the uploader got some kind of permission or not. I'd personally like to see the art uploaded here, but I can't help but be hesitant at this time. The anon asked Khang about it, so I'll wait and see what he says. ~ Shaman of Earthtalk 20:13, October 15, 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Otherarrow. I'm pretty sure that you remember the plagiarist(s)? who were permanently blocked a while ago. There's been more plagiarism of content from today, and I think it's the same person, but I'm not entirely sure. Their behavior seems very similar. Could you look into it? ~ Shaman of Earthtalk 20:21, October 19, 2016 (UTC)

Sure thing. Where is it exactly?--Otherarrow (talk) 21:38, October 19, 2016 (UTC)
Do you mean the plagiarism? It was edited by another anon, but it's on the left of this revision diff of the Art of Fire Emblem Awakening page. ~ Shaman of Earthtalk 21:46, October 19, 2016 (UTC)
Done.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:27, October 19, 2016 (UTC)
Alright. I reported this to you since I thought it might be that plagiarist from before. Thanks for your help. ~ Shaman of Earthtalk 22:44, October 19, 2016 (UTC)
It appears it that it was a different guy, and he tries to appologise on his talk page. See if he is sincere if you can, pls? Kruggov (talk) 00:11, October 20, 2016 (UTC)
Alright, done.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:31, October 20, 2016 (UTC)

Marth and Ylisse Edit

While the Ylisse royal family is presumably Marth's descendants, the script within the game, never mentions Marth as their ancestor. Instead they talk about the First Exalt, whose like Marth, but not him. Speaking of which, I'll create a First Exalt article soon. Anyway as such, might wanna alter the family tree to say presumed. Emperor Hardin (talk) 10:08, October 29, 2016 (UTC)

I am pretty sure that they explicitly mention Marth as their ancestor. It's kinda the whole reason Lucina disguises herself as him? Tiki compares Lucina to Marth and Chrom to a further ancestor of Marth?
PREDIT:Yeah, I just checked, Avatar explictly calls Marth a distant ancestor to Chrom in his support with Tiki. It literally took me two seconds to look this up. It would have taken you two seconds to double check that too.--Otherarrow (talk) 13:48, October 29, 2016 (UTC)
The Tiki support is buried pretty deep within Awakening's script, it would've taken me a while to find it. Many of what we thought early on were references to Marth, were actually references to the First Exalt, who is the worst written precursor hero by far in the whole series, but I digress. Anyhow we still don't know if the First Exalt was Marth's descendant. And if the Exalt is so well known, and loved, why didn't Lucina dress as him instead of Marth, who no one seems to know the actual history of? Emperor Hardin (talk) 14:32, October 29, 2016 (UTC)
I've noticed, taking a glance, that the writers seem confused on whether the First Exalt is Marth or not; the supports give the First Exalt a surprisingly Marth-esque background and supporting cast. I wouldn't be surprised if he was Marth at some point in development, but then the writer's changed their minds (likely to avoid continuity lock out for folks not familiar with the Archanea games and/or the lack of cohesion between Grima's depiction and that of Medeus's, timeline issues, who knows) and adjusted the script to match.
...Tiki's support was literally the first thing I checked, since I remembered Tiki talking about the mystery ancestor in the same support (at least the First Exalt has exploits to his name. All we know about the mystery ancestor is...he exists and Tiki knows him). Anyway, my point was, before you go removing tree chunks and moving pages, you should thoroughly double check your sources so that they say what you think they say. I've learned this the hard way too.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:08, October 29, 2016 (UTC)
I checked all of Awakening's scripts, and all of Chrom+Lucina's supports, none of them mentioned Marth, and instead mention the First Exalt. I'd say that one support with Tiki is buried pretty deep. The First Exalt's wife was literally a Wing Spear Pegasus Knight who was said to have recruited most of the Exalt's enemies, so not only is the Exalt not Marth, his wife is Not Caeda. Its likely as you said, there was a last minute, or the writers weren't communicating well. Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:23, October 29, 2016 (UTC)
I remember reading somewhere that for both Awakening and Fates, the main plot and the supports were written by different teams. If this is true, I wouldn't be surprised if the supports were written with the intent that the First Exalt is Marth, but then they got told from the main scenario team that he wouldn't be after all and just did a ctrl-F to remove any naming of names. It's all really weird. I do wonder though, if First Exalt was Marth at some stage (supposedly), would Grima have been Medeus? Who knows?--Otherarrow (talk) 22:30, October 29, 2016 (UTC)
There are definite plotholes with support, which I should add to the plothole page. Like Panne is completely inconsistent on whether her birth-mother was killed when she was a baby, or died when she was a teenage, in addition to whether or not she knew other taguel. You know I wouldn't be surprised if the ctr-f scenario was exactly what happened. I think its obvious he was Marth, note that Tiki is known for being an ally of the First Exalt in the main script. I really would've Medeus to Grima, he even swears he'll return at the end of Mystery, so its a copout that we get some Medeus wannabe instead. As bad as Fates writing can be, I still prefer it to the mess that was Awakening's writing. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:02, October 29, 2016 (UTC)
I'd argue that Fates is worse, but I guess it comes down to preference. Shrug. Anyway, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these inconsistencies came down to different teams writing different things (possibly based on outdated story info in some cases) and the editors only doing the bare minimum to make it all stick. I hear Fates has that problem just as bad though, which is bad as the devs boasted about Fates having a better plot (though in hindsight, it has a more complicated plot, but it's somehow even more shallow than Awakening's otherwise.) But enough off topic asides.--Otherarrow (talk) 23:57, October 29, 2016 (UTC)
Having played both, I'd Fates is marginally better, but not by much. At least it doesn't try to pass itself as a continuation of Archanea/Valentia, then get everything catastrophically wrong. I agree the writers of Fates, definitely failed on a good plot, unless you count a marginally better story then Awakening, a success. I altered some Plegia/Ylisse related pages, as they were under the impression that Gangrel was out for revenge, when the actual script, and Gangrel's supports make it clear he himself doesn't really care about the previous war, and just wanted power. To explain the Hierarch thing, why be afraid for his life now when Emmeryn is an adult with an army and the country's loyalty, rather then when she was a vulnerable child where even the people in Ylisse hated her? It makes no sense honestly. Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:03, October 30, 2016 (UTC)
It makes perfect sense. This is hardly a indepth character with conflicting background or motivation. You forget that it's implied that Ylisse's military is actually weaker than when she took the throne, because she went out of her way to demilitarize as a sign of peace. What little we do see of the Hierarch is a guy who prioritizes his own survival and well being. When Emmeryn was a vulnerable child, Plegia was in shambles and no threat to Ylisse, and while Ylisse was also in a poor state, it at least had enough military power to, you know, not be overthrown by angry peasants (in fact, I don't think they even rebelled). The Hierarch literally had nothing to gain from backstabbing Emmeryn and everything to gain from having her take him as her confidant; hatred of the people or no, she is still the country's ruler...and by backing her and guiding her to "correct" her father's mistakes, he would secure a comfortable lifestyle for himself. Contrast the present at the time of his death, where Emmeryn has all but demilitarized the country while Plegia's military might is growing, fueled by their hatred of Ylisse (which, while Gangrel may not actually care about that, he openly claims as such to motivate his soldiers). So, in order to again secure his safety and well being, he plans to sell out Emmeryn to Plegia. The fact that he is killed anyway (with the Plegians even sneering at him no less) is meant to be seen as ironic; he sold out Emmeryn to secure his own safety, but ultimately signed his own death warrant.
TL;DR (as this is hardly a in-depth developed character; I just am long winded): He saw that Ylisse was on the losing side of the war against Plegia and tried getting while it was good. He had no reason to do so when Emmeryn was a child, as while she initially inherited her father's unpopularity, she was still the monarch of a powerful nation.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:17, October 30, 2016 (UTC)

Massive edit warEdit

Can you PLEASE block this idiot who keeps vandalising pages and replacing links with ducky the second? If so, i'd advise to hurry.-- 21:40, November 11, 2016 (UTC)

Done. Sorry for the delay.--Otherarrow (talk) 23:07, November 11, 2016 (UTC)

Hey, I'm the new kid on the block, just working on the Fire Emblem Fates character partner and friendship classes for the most part. I have a request and a question:

Question: I've seen the tables/infoboxs with the growths when a character is in a specific class; can I add the classes accessible through friendship/partner classes?

Fates To Do listEdit

Request: Can I have a list of all of the character pages who need the class section worked on?

Judas of Korea (talk) 18:15, November 15, 2016 (UTC)

I don't see why you can't? Unless there is some specific I am not clear about. Remember, I don't know much about Fates (to put it politely) so I am not the one to ask.--Otherarrow (talk) 18:24, November 15, 2016 (UTC)
If you don't mind me stepping in, since I've been one of the people putting in work for the Fates Pages, for the most part, just about every character aside from the Avatar needs to have their class overview sections expanded. I think right now we should prioritize doing characters that do not have their Base and Secondary class sections already established, which are mostly children characters. Marriage class is pretty low priority for now since that requires much more time and there are more pressing issues with the class overall. However, if you have good knowledge of the marriage classes for a certain character, by all means do it, but priorities should go to Base & Secondary/Paternal Inheritance > Teritary/Maternal Inheritance > Friendship > Marriage.—Nauibotics (talk) 20:44, November 15, 2016 (UTC)

Other media page contentEdit

Hi, I've seen some pages of characters mention the anime or some other media, but others just have cipher. With things like the drama cd's providing massive backstory to some of them, and others just being made exclusively for the sake of comedy, I wonder what should be included in these pages. Please don't rush with the answer, just consider it.-- 01:15, November 16, 2016 (UTC)

I think the idea has always been to include all official appearances of the characters. Of course, I am unsure if the drama cds should be counted as "canon", or noncanon (and thus, where they go on the pages), but yes, we do need to include them. Does that at least get the ball rolling?--Otherarrow (talk) 01:21, November 16, 2016 (UTC)

This is just my opinion, but it would be very hard for the third cd of awakening to not be canon, considering it explains the children's backstory, corresponds with some characters statements in the future past dlc and the manga, and was handled by IS, not to mention it describes the direct aftermath of the cutscene of Lucina facing Grima. The position of the other three discs are not so clear, however, with this many connections, it is likely that, for all intents and purposes, this serves as an expansion of the main storyline. With this aside, things like the Hasha no Tsurugi manga serving as part of a set in cipher, makes a case for a more present mention than mere trivia. And yes, it got the ball rolling somewhat.-- 01:41, November 16, 2016 (UTC)

If you don't mind, what's your take on having a media section on the game's template? Things like drama CD's, mangas and such should at least be linked to avoid potential difficulties.-- 17:47, November 21, 2016 (UTC)

Can you please answer my question?-- 15:09, November 22, 2016 (UTC)

I don't mind? I wasn't aware that the templates didn't have such a section? (I could be thinking of the SMT Wiki though). Again, you don't have to ask permission to edit. If you think something needs to be done, then do it.--Otherarrow (talk) 15:14, November 22, 2016 (UTC)

Growth Rates Request Edit

I'll make this quick. I've seen the templates on character pages showing their growths in their primary class set, like Peri's in her Cavalier line. Am I allowed to add templates with the growth rates for classes that are accessible through Friendship and Partner classes?

Judas of Korea (talk) 18:20, November 20, 2016 (UTC)

I believe other games with reclassing have those, yes, so go for it. At least, the DS games do.--Otherarrow (talk) 22:05, November 20, 2016 (UTC)

Background InfoEdit

There was some info translated about tomes in Tellius, about Galdrar being considered a type of magic, that water is a blessing of the goddess and dark is considered related to Yune, so I was wondering where that'd fit? I looked at the magic and tome pages, but there wasn't exactly an indication it would be acceptable since it's more about the mechanics than the story behind them. So I'd like a suggestion.-- 21:24, November 26, 2016 (UTC)

I think the Light page has some lore tidbits, but yeah, if no section exists, I think it can't hurt to make one? The dev notes for Jugdral likewise give an origin for Anima magic. I dunno what the section would be called. Profile, like the few class pages with lore?--Otherarrow (talk) 21:47, November 26, 2016 (UTC)
The problem is, there isn't a tome type page like fire tomes, water tomes, or something like it except the type of page you mentioned above. It has only pages for very specific tomes, like arcwind, excalibur, etc.-- 22:24, November 26, 2016 (UTC)
Except there is? Fire (magic), Wind (magic), Thunder (magic). Unless I am misunderstanding you?--Otherarrow (talk) 19:15, November 27, 2016 (UTC)
I looked into those, and i wasn't able to find water(magic) if there even is one, and dark and light magics are treated as their own thing, with templates of itself.-- 19:41, November 27, 2016 (UTC)
FE doesn't have a separate "water" type; outside of TMS (which uses SMT's system of spell classification), all Ice magic is treated as a subset of Wind in cases where Fire, Wind, and Thunder aren't unified under one type. As for Light and Dark, Light Magic, Dark Magic and Anima Magic are classed as the three "main" divisions of Tomes, with Fire, Wind, Thunder being subtypes of Anima. I admit, this isn't foolproof, but that's worked so far.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:21, November 27, 2016 (UTC)

Karel PageEdit

Hey I just wanted to know why the thing I posted on the Karel talk page was removed. I know the last post I made on the Eirika page wasn't appropriate for the wiki and belonged more on the forum, but the little discussion on the Karel page was very relevant and was about what could be added to the page. If it really was so unnecessary then at least mention it in the change notes.

Speculation about how Elibe characters kinda sorta maybe might be based on Jugdral characters if you squint really hard is not relevant and shouldn't be added to the page. It's forum discussion, and talk pages are not a forum.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:21, November 29, 2016 (UTC)

I know that this is likely a trivial question, yet I will ask it anyway, as last time I did it on a previous wiki I was banned for 'pointless editing'. There are two subjects that I would like to make a blog on, yet I need to know if I can have permission to do so; the first is 'Characters in 100 words or less', which is an analysis of characters as a whole (gameplay and the character themself) in 100 words or less, and the second is 'What if...' which is more of a fan thing, taking events from the Fire Emblem franchise and twisting them to see how the story would differ. Sorry for the pointless question, Otherarrow, but I just need to be certain.

Judas of Korea (talk) 22:30, December 18, 2016 (UTC)

What you do on your blogspace is really none of my concern, as long as it doesn't contradict our policies. Personally, I would recommend mainspace editing as well, since this is a wiki first and foremost, remember.--Otherarrow (talk) 10:36, December 19, 2016 (UTC)

Armor variations Edit

Earlier you agreed it would make sense to create the page as Axe General, and Sword General had pages. Anyhow do you have a backup of the Axe Armor, and Bow Armor? Emperor Hardin (talk) 09:08, December 28, 2016 (UTC)

Ah, sorry. I must have forgotten. (Of course, that raises the question of if Axe and Sword General needs their own pages either; if I recall, there isn't Axe Marshall, Sword Marshall, etc). And no; but I recall the pages being in pretty poor shape to begin with (for one, I don't think they had consistent or official names).--Otherarrow (talk) 19:09, December 28, 2016 (UTC)
All Marshall variations are just called "Marshall" or similar in all versions of Radiant Dawn." The bow version was pretty good, let me see if I can find it. Also Armored Axe, and Armored Sword were used in certain points of Radiant Dawn, names for the class were somewhat inconsistently used I believe. Anyhow if you choose to re-create it yourself, Axe variation had the highest STR, lowest SPEED, while Armor Sword was the opposite. Emperor Hardin (talk) 19:49, December 28, 2016 (UTC)
What are the classes labeled as in the game menus? From all sources I've seen, they are just Armor Sword, Armor Axe, etc. And I don't know much of anything about Radiant Dawn sadly, so I'd only be able to supervise based on the Jugdral games (where they are even less differentiated, since they all promote to the same General)--Otherarrow (talk) 22:22, December 28, 2016 (UTC)
I believe the class role calls them Armored Axe, and the stat boxes calls them something else. I'll check later today. Medeus is indeed called "Earth Dragon King" at few a points(here's one ), and even "King of the Earth Dragons" during the recap of FE12, I'll link them later. I'm a little confused myself, but its worth a note. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:08, December 28, 2016 (UTC)
What do the class boxes (and thus the in game identifiers most people will see) say? Not everyone will sit through the class role, so any differing names should probably have lower priority.
I wasn't doubting it, I just don't see how to naturally integrate it; your version basically hinged on speculation and just stating it seemed...kinda pointless IMO. Like, "OK, so?", if that makes sense.--Otherarrow (talk) 23:51, December 28, 2016 (UTC)
Mentioning Medeus being called that in the notes seems the best place right now.
In the unit infobox, "Armr Axe/Sword" is used, while "Armor Axe/Sword" is used in the level up stats, and "Armored Axe/Sword" is used in the class roll. I think Axe Armor is also used in the official guide. Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:18, December 29, 2016 (UTC)
I think this leans towards Armor Axe/Sword more than anything else. I take it (from the omission) the Lance is just Armor? (Armor Axe/Sword would be consistent with that)--Otherarrow (talk) 03:01, December 29, 2016 (UTC)
In Radiant Dawn, its Armor Lance, but other games like Genealogy of The Holy War just call it Armor Knight. This along with the lack of differences, and the TCG considering the two the same makes me think we shouldn't have a separate page for Lance Armor Knight. Emperor Hardin (talk) 04:39, December 29, 2016 (UTC)

Fan-Made ImagesEdit

Greetings, Otherarrow. I wanted to ask you if there are any restrictions on the use of images in user pages. I mean, I made a screen capture of my Awakening avatar the other day, and I would like to update it on my user page. However, last time I updated a fan-made image on my user page on another wiki, I was told that I wasn't allowed to, so I would not want to cause this kind of problems again. That is why I'd like to know if I can update images of my in-game avatars for my user page only.

By the way. Happy new year!

Garmagic (talk) 16:53, January 2, 2017 (UTC)

I don't think it should be a problem, as long as you don't go overboard with it? Just the one should be fine?--Otherarrow (talk) 10:02, January 3, 2017 (UTC)

All right. Thank you. --Garmagic (talk) 10:02, January 4, 2017 (UTC)

Hey Otherarrow, got a question.S Edit

Hi Mr. Otherarrow!

Since the new remake of Gaiden is coming out, should we rename all the characters' names with the ones on the FE Heroes website like me and other people had the time to rename Robin to Tobin? If so, that would be really helpful to those that are looking forward to see these characters in action! Anyways if you read this, then thanks. 14:37, January 19, 2017 (UTC)ReyCoby1

Already in the process of plotting that out! Check it here!--Otherarrow (talk) 15:09, January 19, 2017 (UTC)

Heroes artworks Edit

Otherarrow, if you don't mind, there's a discussion going on whether or not the artworks from heroes should replace the current ones on the characters templates. Personally, i think it would be a better replacement to the old TCG card ones and the fates 4koma ones. However, this is complicated by the dlc artwork rule, so an opinion on the matter would be helpful. Thank you.-- 23:03, January 19, 2017 (UTC)

I honestly don't know. I think this falls under the DLC art rule (esp since most charas are just there as units foremost; not characters), but this is also a legit spinoff which is a lot of these folks latest and likely final appearance (for example, I love Nacian but I doubt he'd make it into crossovers or anything) and everyone appears to have faithful designs so, hrm...--Otherarrow (talk) 14:17, January 20, 2017 (UTC)
In the discussion about this on my talk page, Khang gave the go-ahead for switching the infobox images to the FE Heroes depictions. Just thought I'd mention that here. -- Shaman of Earthtalk 14:32, January 20, 2017 (UTC)
If Khang gave the go-ahead, it's prob fine then!--Otherarrow (talk) 14:36, January 20, 2017 (UTC)
Very well, I'll begin switching more of them (I've already finished with Anna). -- Shaman of Earthtalk 14:39, January 20, 2017 (UTC)

That page was NOT plagiarized AT ALL. I worked hard to expand that page from playing FE12. Omegaxis1 (talk) 17:23, January 21, 2017 (UTC)

Ah, excuse me for being suspicious; in prior cases of plagiarism, a tell tale sign was the refusal to use names and terms the wiki actually used in favor of different ones, especially if the entry was a sudden massive addition to the page in question. If you wish to do so, feel free to readd your contributions, but try next time to make sure names and terms actually match up with other parts of the page you are editing. Please understand and apologizes for the trouble.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:29, January 21, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, I try to always write what I know. Klein was how the game translations was for me when I played it, so of course I wouldn't have known that it was Clarisse. Actually, can you tell me how the name is now Clarisse? I don't recall any localization being made yet. Omegaxis1 (talk) 17:32, January 21, 2017 (UTC)
At the time, the article was at "Kuraine" which was a pretty direct romanization; at the very least you could have double checked to make sure terms matched within the page itself ya know? (It's sloppy and potentially confusing if one section of the article suddenly swaps what it calls everyone) Anyway, Clarisse comes from the Fire Emblem Heroes poll, (as does affirmation that its Eremiya and not Eremiah, for example); all of the pre-FE7 games (and FE12) got official English names for key people from that. Again, sorry for the trouble and thank you in advance.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:39, January 21, 2017 (UTC)
Actually, I was never even aware that the name got localized or that the name of the wiki page got changed as well. Had I realized that sooner, I'd have made sure to alter it. But nice, now we do have localized names. Awakening did localize a lot of the names thanks to the Einherjar, but now we have even more now. That's good. Anyways, I fixed the stuff. Gonna make sure that Katarina's page is fixed as well. Omegaxis1 (talk) 17:43, January 21, 2017 (UTC)
I think Clarisse's page was created as Kuraine and just never got moved, since both were technically fan translations and confusion with the FE6 character (which is prob also the reason Clarisse's English name is relatively different; both were on the same poll abit different sections of it). Anyway, I reverted back Katarina's page and tried to fix all the differing names that I spotted.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:51, January 21, 2017 (UTC)
Oh, well that's one other burden out of the way. Thanks. But now it makes sense on why they were changed. Betting that Gaiden Robin's name will get a localized change since Robin is more popular with Awakening Avatar. Omegaxis1 (talk) 17:54, January 21, 2017 (UTC)
It's Tobin now. I went by and took down as many changed names as I noticed and posted them to the forums btw!--Otherarrow (talk) 20:04, January 21, 2017 (UTC)

Bot rights Edit

If you don't mind, I'm requesting Content Moderator rights for my bot, to help me speed up tasks that require some tools of an admin (full list here). -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 06:55, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

That should be fine. Is that something I need to do, or you just giving me a heads up? (...I kinda forgot the full extent of the admin privileges you have sorry. ^^;;) EDIT: Went ahead and did it. Hope it helps!--Otherarrow (talk) 16:11, January 22, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. -- Khang (talk)@fandom 00:10, January 23, 2017 (UTC)

Support sections Edit

Hey Otherarrow, Nauibotics and I were discussing the other day about characters having support sections on their pages. Not scripts of their conversations, but actual descriptions of them. I argued against it, since having pages with them makes not only a waste of space, but utterly pointless. He kept insisting it fleshes out the character, but isn't that what personality sections are for? I request that you help settle this matter.-- 21:22, January 25, 2017 (UTC)

I think, at most, it wouldn't hurt to have a general overview of what the supports go over, esp if it revealed depths not mentioned in their main story appearances but yeah describing every support is a tad overkill. We do have personality seconds and several do have "In their support conversation with X, it's revealed..." so, hrm.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:45, January 25, 2017 (UTC)

Armor Variants Edit

I'm going to add the stat differences in Radiant Dawn, I just need to do a comparison again. Emperor Hardin (talk) 11:24, January 26, 2017 (UTC)

Fair enough, I just found it weird that on the Axe Armor there was no mention of RD at all, haha. A heads up, also, remember your grammar and spelling. I noticed a few slip ups on the Axe Armor page.--Otherarrow (talk) 11:29, January 26, 2017 (UTC)
I'm kinda of rushing it. I just wanted to get the basic page done, and copy/pasted bow armor basically. I really wish we still had the original backed up. By the way, did you hear one of the characters in Heroes is said to be a Lance Knight? Emperor Hardin (talk) 11:33, January 26, 2017 (UTC)

Why did you undo my edition on Garret?

Unnamedgoon (talk) 00:32, January 31, 2017 (UTC)

I already asked you this, but I will ask again just to make sure:

I made an edition on Garret's page telling the readers not to confuse this character with Gareth, a character with a similiar name.

Why did you remove it?The preceding unsigned comment was added by Unnamedgoon (talk • contribs).

...Because they are two different names and aren't single letter differences or similar enough that a reader would be lead to one while looking for another? (contrast, say, Linda and Linde)? Don't assume readers are dumb. (Also, you don't need to leave multiple messages, I am notified of new messages when I check into the wiki)--Otherarrow (talk) 03:19, January 31, 2017 (UTC)

I'm not assuming the readers are dumb. Garret and Gareth have the exact same pronounciation. Linde and Linda have not. Their names are similliar enough so that readers could mistake one for another. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Unnamedgoon (talk • contribs).

I am not aware; I've pronounced Garret as "ga-ret" while Gareth is "ga-re-th". Anyway, the wiki (nor the games where either characer appears) are not auditory mediums so how they are pronounced really shouldn't be a call we should be making.--Otherarrow (talk) 03:50, January 31, 2017 (UTC)

Fair enough. You win.

You know what? It's not fair at all. If what you're saying is true, then why there is a "Not to be confused with Arran or Aran" in Alen's page, even though neither are one letter differences? Besides, it's not like this wiki will get worse if I put that thing with Garret. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Unnamedgoon (talk • contribs).

Because Garret and Gareth are not a one letter difference, and unlike Arran, Alan, and Aran, one has never been written as the other in fan translations either. (Alen was Alan for the longest time you see). You can see someone get Arran, Aran, and Alan confused just looking at names (esp with Rs and Ls in consideration). Garret and Gareth, not so much. Drop it kid.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:17, February 6, 2017 (UTC)

Sorry, but I won't drop it. Not again. Alen was Alan. He isn't Alan anymore. Alan is past, understand? If Alen is not Alan anymore, then his name isn't an one-letter difference with Arran and Aran anymore. Also, if you can see someone confusing Alan, Aran and Arran's names doesn't mean I can see it too.The preceding unsigned comment was added by Unnamedgoon (talk • contribs).

If it bothers you that much, remove it from the Alen page. It isn't locked, to my knowledge. Throwing a hissy fit at me won't change anything. Also, sign your posts with --~~~~--Otherarrow (talk) 23:57, February 6, 2017 (UTC)

I'd rather have the "Not to be confused with Gareth" back in Garret's page and keep the Arran thing in the Alen page, because it will be more complete. Also, I don't know why politely telling you what I think is a "hissy fit"Unnamedgoon (talk) 01:02, February 7, 2017 (UTC)

You saying "you know what? it's not fair" and "no I won't drop it" and the use of bold-italics and complaining about me removing the Garret/Gareth thing while Arren note is still up is definitely not politely telling me what you think. You do know your posts are right there, right? Relax. (also, stop posting your replies above mine, it's confusing and takes me a sec to realize you replied.)--Otherarrow (talk) 02:42, February 7, 2017 (UTC)
I swear I'm writing below you, but when I finish it goes above your comment. Alright, it's not "politely" but it's still not a hissy fit. And I'll ask you again: Will this wiki get worse if you let the Garret note where it is?Unnamedgoon (talk) 14:04, February 8, 2017 (UTC)
Yes because the two names have nothing to do with each other, aren't spelt in a way where it'd be easy to confuse them, and is literally just slapping a tag on the top of the article that adds nothing and aids no one. Drop it.--Otherarrow (talk) 15:13, February 8, 2017 (UTC)
Stop telling me to drop it, because I won't. 1. They ARE spelt in a way that is easy to confuse them. You said it yourself: one is pronounced Ga-re-t and the other is pronouced Ga-re-th. It's basically an one letter difference. 2. How can you know it aids no one? Do you have a crystal ball or what? 3. If this is "slapping a tag on the top of the article that adds nothing and aids no one" then why the other pages with "Not to be confused with" aren't? You know, Wikipedia is good because its convenient. You're just saying "If you confuse these names, you're an idiot". Now, I'm starting to worry about the possibilities of you blocking me, but I believe you are more mature than that.Unnamedgoon (talk) 20:53, February 8, 2017 (UTC)
Ah, screw it. It's pointless to keep arguing about this. I'll just move to the other wiki. It lacks the content this one has, but it's easier to write all the stuff than changing the design of the pages. Besides, that wiki is part of NIWA. This one isn't. Unnamedgoon (talk) 14:26, February 12, 2017 (UTC)
Being NIWA really doesn't mean anything, a lot of NIWA wikis are just Wikia wikis who jumped ship and...a lot of them aren't very good (I dunno if the FE one is any good, I mainly avoid it on principle; fair competition and all). I doubt you'd be able to contribute much there anyway; I don't know how they function but I doubt they'd appreciate you overreacting and throwing a tantrum at them over something entirely minor and pointless either.--Otherarrow (talk) 18:30, February 12, 2017 (UTC)
As I said, it lacks the content, but it has a beautier design. Also, "but I doubt they'd appreciate you overreacting and throwing a tantrum at them over something entirely minor and pointless either" I doubt any of them are annoying pricks who say that people are throwing tantrums purely because they can't argue for shit. Just ban me already. I can't take this any longer. Unnamedgoon (talk) 21:05, February 13, 2017 (UTC)
Continuing to bicker on my talk page is just making you look more like a child. Over half of your edits on this wiki have been you arguing with me and getting upset over me removing your note about Garret being potentially confused for Gareth. I told you to drop it since you've stubbornly insisted on fighting for what is ultimately a minor thing no one else would lose sleep over. I'll be honest with you, you've failed to make any meaningful argument better than "no, you're wrong", you haven't explained why I'm wrong. Again, the games are not auditory mediums and there is no point someone would look at the name "Garret" and think its spelt "Gareth" because the two names are pronounced completely differently at a glance and are spelt differently aside from sharing the first three letters in common. I've already made this point. You've never made a counterpoint, instead citing how "unfair" it was that the note on Alen's page comparing his name to Arran was up. I admitted your point there and removed the note on Alen's page. The fact that you continue to throw a tantrum about this makes me somehow doubt you won't end up throwing a fit at the good people at the other wiki because they reverted some illogical addition you decide to add to one of their pages. If you really are leaving like you say you are, then leave. Nothing is forcing you to respond or even check this talk page.--Otherarrow (talk) 21:36, February 13, 2017 (UTC)
All I want now is you to ban me. Then I can leave Unnamedgoon (talk) 22:40, February 13, 2017 (UTC)
By the way, have you noticed how the Four Fanged Offense chapter script is actually the entire Bee Movie script? Your profile says you're fighting against vandalism, so you should do something. Also, the entire A Star is Born page consists of "this is a cute little girl she is shy and i love her". Unnamedgoon (talk) 01:39, February 14, 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for pointing this out! As much as I'd like, I am not knowing of everything that goes on on the wiki. Espcially with all the activity brought about by Heroes, some vandalism will slip through the cracks. I'm right on it!--Otherarrow (talk) 01:43, February 14, 2017 (UTC)
Alright, now I can leave. 'Til we meet again. Unnamedgoon (talk) 20:44, February 15, 2017 (UTC)

Awakening Quote Pages Edit

I feel the need to ask this because it's going to be drastic. Is it alright if I move all the quotes of the Awakening playable characters to their own quote pages? I notice that this has been done with the Fates and it's currently being done with Heroes. I think that the quote sections from Awakening are lengthy enough to deserve the same treatment. Am I good to go? - FE13 Lucina Great Lord Map Sprite Fastesthe1 (talk) 03:24, February 7, 2017 (UTC)

I think it should be fine, esp since a good number of Awakening characters have and likely will appear in Heroes in some form, you know? One game is lengthy enough and even a second one the size of Heroes would be enough to push the page into "too big" territory". So yes, go ahead!--Otherarrow (talk) 04:16, February 7, 2017 (UTC)

Rolf's MotherEdit

Hope the page I added of her was okay. I noticed that there was no page for her, and it makes sense, given how she appears two times. But given how she has her own design, and had an impact on the three brother's lives in the past, figured I should add her page. Had to find a pic and edit it to make it work. Hope that's cool. Omegaxis1 (talk) 23:39, February 9, 2017 (UTC)

It's fine! Don't worry!--Otherarrow (talk) 23:40, February 9, 2017 (UTC)
Great. Now I wanna go play Heroes and maybe write a small one shot fic about her. Speaking of Heroes, how's the game for you? Omegaxis1 (talk) 23:43, February 9, 2017 (UTC)

Armor Pages Edit

Sorry, I've been absent, and busy for a while. I'm preparing the updates to the armor pages on my sandbox. By the way, do you think the Armor variations in Heroes should be the main image? Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:32, February 12, 2017 (UTC)

I think while me and Khang did talk on the forum page about and settle on repping the Heroes generics as themselves (Sword Cavaliers are Sword Cavaliers, not Sword Knights or the like, etc), I never got an answer on if the Etc Knights would be Etc Armors, but...honestly that seems an easier solution than making Etc Knight (Heroes) for what are pretty clearly Armors using the Knight terminology for them. So if that is to be the case, by our policies the Heroes art for them would be the main images until we get Echoes portraits (and even that would be for just the standard Armor)--Otherarrow (talk) 00:04, February 13, 2017 (UTC)
My understanding is the Generic Units in Heroes have classes per their name, the main characters are themselves, or unique. While Caeda is categorized as a flying type unit, she's not called a Pegasus Knight anywhere in her stats. I'd probably rep Sword Cavaliers as Sword Knight, and the like, myself. I think we all agree that the armor variations in Heroes as the same prior ones in the series. Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:19, February 13, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, as I commented in the forum, the named characters aren't divided by class and are pretty individualized in terms of stats and skills and so on; this would apply only for the generics and mainly as a way to keep track of their stats and how to link to them if we need to. My idea was, in order to both keep consistency and avoid any "but they could also be X" cases, just present them as they are. Sword Cavaliers, to use your example, would be Sword Cavalier, not Sword Knight or Free Knight or any prior equivalent. The exception would be the Armors because, yeah they are Armors.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:30, February 13, 2017 (UTC)
That sounds great. As for the enemy cavaliers, would you mind if the Japanese names were checked first to see if they share the name as the Tellius variants? Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:40, February 13, 2017 (UTC)
Of course! In the edit comments for the forum, I did ask someone to check on that!--Otherarrow (talk) 00:44, February 13, 2017 (UTC)
Sorry, things have been busy again. I'm still working on the sandbox and I'll do some more this weekend. Though I did check the Plegia thing, and the editor was right. The artbook said Gangrel popularized Grimleal due to believing it would help him obtain personal power. Emperor Hardin (talk) 08:36, February 17, 2017 (UTC)

Camilla Page Edit

Camilla gets vandalized too much, especially when all of them are basically the same thing, changing her "name" to reference her cleavage. I think you should lock it to minimize these persistent vandalisms. What do you think?—Nauibotics (talk) 22:55, February 13, 2017 (UTC)

I agree, we found out that the one who's vandalizing Camilla was none other than "StoryWeaver4", disguising himself as his own anonymous accounts. But not me, I'm a good anonymous user, and I'm helping reverting the bad editing he had done. The way the Camilla page was vandalized? It's the exact same thing as StoryWeaver4 has done. In other words, he's a sock puppet. 23:05, February 13, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, that guy was really ticking me off when he continuously trolled on Camilla's Page. I feared something like this was going to happen: someone who just won't stop trolling no matter what. RadiantDawnLord (talk) 23:24, February 13, 2017 (UTC)

I've actually blocked him several times by now, he might be using a proxy or something. Khang has already locked the page but I'll keep an eye out. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for the help guys.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:32, February 14, 2017 (UTC)
It is of great pleasure working with you, Otherarrow. And I apologize for certain things that I did in this "Wikia War". I'm just really frustrated for how utterly negatively persistent he was being. RadiantDawnLord (talk) 01:36, February 14, 2017 (UTC)

I think he's at it again, this time he attacked Charlotte and others. He did a bunch of small edits to Charlotte's page so could you or another admin revert to the version before he started vandalizing the page? - FE13 Lucina Great Lord Map Sprite Fastesthe1 (talk) 18:44, February 14, 2017 (UTC)

Troll Alert! Edit

Please help! The troll from yesterday has returned, and has been vandalizing Flora and Charlotte pages! I tried to revert the messy edits this guy is making, but it keeps saying "cannot be edited due to conflicting intermediate edits'. Have I done something wrong that I couldn't edit the pages right? Please, help! RadiantDawnLord (talk) 19:28, February 14, 2017 (UTC)

FEH artworks for TCG and 4Koma Edit

Would it be alright to replace old TCG and Fates 4koma artworks with FEH ones in the infobox? Seems like what most ppl wanted and personally I think it would be fine. -- Khang (talk)

@fandom 14:31, February 17, 2017 (UTC)

I think I said it should be fine further up? But yeah, this prob doesn't count for the DLC rule since being able to summon all these heroes is Heroes' main draw, while in Awakening it was a fun bonus (likewise, most of the designs are pretty faithful to the originals, while Awakening had to confirm them to Awakening's class designs)--Otherarrow (talk) 14:47, February 17, 2017 (UTC)

Are we actually going to replace actual game artworks now? Old TCG and 4koma is one thing, but a spin-off shouldn't take precedence over the source game in terms of art, unless it's really outdated. This is aggravating because echoes is coming soon, and heroes will likely have some different artwork as well. Should a spin-off take priority over a recent remake? I doubt it.-- 04:30, February 28, 2017 (UTC)

I honestly don't know; I've just been doing what I thought we agreed on and what I've seen other users do. If I missteped (which I may as well have!!) feel free to revert it, no biggy. (also, since Echoes technically was released after Heroes, Echoes art would take priority over Heroes art, even if Gaiden characters were added to Heroes later; at least in my view)--Otherarrow (talk) 04:49, February 28, 2017 (UTC)
There's already been a precedent set of replacing infobox images with images from recent games so that should be fine. Maybe just elaborate further on the exceptions to avoid confusion? Kimlasca warrior (talk) 05:02, February 28, 2017 (UTC)
@Otherarrow Since your an admin. Do you mind if we were start changing some of the character's art to their Heroes version? Or should we consult the other admins for their thoughts? --Nirito Haan (talk) 05:30, February 28, 2017 (UTC)
I agree with the anon here, Heroes artworks still fall under the DLC rule, where they are illustrated by many artists, not the game designer himself, and they play very minor roles in the story if not none. So they should not precede the official artworks from the main series. -- Khang (talk)@fandom 05:44, February 28, 2017 (UTC)

I've been thinking of an artwork category system for the infobox. Here's how it should go:

Original: The art from the game itself. It should not be replaced by anything else, unless said character appeared canonically somewhere else, and if available, only with the full artwork. Only exceptions being if the design doesn't match the current appearance or has been remodeled in a remake.

Remake: Redesigns of characters from older games should replace the original, as it will likely be a point of reference forward. On absence of full artwork, the original or something official should cover this, and if not, then the icon from a remake still takes precedence, being an updated design.

Spin-off: Those are not part of the main series, and therefore, should only be used on characters exclusively to that game, or whose infobox uses an old TCG art or 4koma, being of a higher level in terms of official if made by Nintendo itself.

Extra-official: The category where arts from works like the TCG's and 4komas are. Due to being on a lesser level than an actual game, it should only be used if no other full-body art is available. It must be replaced as soon as some of the levels above and restrained to the gallery afterwards.

It's just my opinion, but this is where we're likely at.-- 06:17, February 28, 2017 (UTC)

...honestly that's prob the best way to go about it. So the "priority" for main art would be Remake -> Original -> Spin-off -> "Extra"? This keeps the images from the infobox relevant to their latest canonical appearance and avoids things like weird DLC art or Heroes artwork from taking priority...but at the same time it prevents auxiliary artwork (such as TCG or 4 komas) from taking priority over things actually used in the games. I can dig it, it makes sense.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:11, February 28, 2017 (UTC)

FEH ArtistsEdit

Hey, could we also make a list of the participating artists for Fire Emblem Heroes? Kimlasca warrior (talk) 18:34, February 17, 2017 (UTC)

Problematic edit on Royal RoyaleEdit

Hi Otherarrow, I would like to point you to a problematic edit on Royal Royale.

The user in question objected to the detailness of my edit, which is a point worthy of argument itself. However, instead of using the Talk Page, the user rolled back a wealth of edits well beyond his point of contention. He has his opinion on what constitutes a proper generic strategy page. I have my reasons on why a great level of details may be required to illustrate certain important strategy points. I offered general descriptions to accompany my detailed strategy example. I made my edits no less because the existing examples offer little insights while being relatively verbose.

I would think that a separate page on the detailed strategy is a more reasonable edit should that user wish to contribute to the Royal Royale page himself. If not, starting a Talk Page section and leaving a note to the editing user (myself) can also be a productive start. Instead, the user asserted his own personal opinion of how the Royal Royale page should look like by deleting not only the section he objects but also all previous unrelated edits on the page. This is counter-productive, unhelpful, and question Wiki editing practice.

Please take a look at the case. I think some admin moderation is required.

冷雾 (talk) 23:52, March 2, 2017 (UTC)

heya, I'm sorry for this. For the time being until you can sort this out, I will back off from getting into a pointless edit war with 冷雾 on that Royal Royale page since he is so insistent that his strategies are a necessity for the page. Since I've already compromised most of his edits, the ONLY part of his edits I am focusing on now is his insistence on putting that Turn-By-Turn strategy guide for the Camilla version of the map. If I recall correctly, you told us that we aren't doing turn-by-turn strategies on any main pages, even the subjective strategy sections of the chapters, since we aren't a game guide like Gamefaqs.
Edit: I take it back a little, it also even has a whole section on Item optimization. It's getting super detailed and straightup just like a gamefaqs guide. This needs addressing asap before that page becomes more of a game guide is than just an information page.—Nauibotics (talk) 00:21, March 3, 2017 (UTC)
I am not the guy to go to for these kinds of pages, but yeah, if it's a turn-by-turn thing with super in detail and getting into things like item optimization...we prob is not what the wiki needs. Strategy sections are fine, but if it gets so indepth that it absorbs most of the page, gets unhelpful, or comes off like "this is the only way to do it", it defeats the point. That's my take.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:48, March 3, 2017 (UTC)

Someone is trying to frame me FE Heroes wiki Edit

Someone just send a message in the FE Heroes wiki to try to frame me. Here's the link: RadiantDawnLord (talk) 16:29, March 3, 2017 (UTC)

Fates series? Edit

Seeing as we have pages for games set within the same world, should we make one for fates? Technically speaking, it is multiple games, after all.-- 02:20, March 20, 2017 (UTC)

Only on technicalities; both IS and this wiki consider Fates to be one game with three routes, and not three separate games. Besides, a "Fates series" wouldn't cover anything the game page itself doesn't cover even as an overview so it'd be entirely pointless.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:27, March 20, 2017 (UTC)

Echoes artworks Edit

Seeing the amount of Echoes portraits we're seeing lately(I still can't believe its this early), shouldn't we start replacing those from the infobox? Some of them hardly match their current appereance.-- 18:05, April 3, 2017 (UTC)

Once we get full artwork, yeah. Full artwork trumps portraits (which is why Severa/Owain/Inigo have their Awakening art and not their Fates portraits). For characters who never got art, such as bosses and villains, go ahead and replace the portrait in the infobox (but remember to move the old portrait to the gallery!)--Otherarrow (talk) 18:07, April 3, 2017 (UTC)
Since the status screen portraits are just cropped from the full artwork, I'm switching them in the infoboxes that are using cropped artwork from the Complete, if that's okay. Are You Serious (talk) 00:18, April 4, 2017 (UTC)
It should be fine; I dunno why the Complete did those "torso art" pieces anyway.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:36, April 4, 2017 (UTC)

Kyza and Dragons in human form Edit

The Profile in the recollection as translated Amielleon called Kyza a word that can mean either "Homosexual or trans." As for Dragons assuming the form of humans before becoming Manaketes, Aenir in Elibe was known to have taken a humanoid form before the Ending Winter, hence her relationship with Nergal. I don't think any other dragons are known to have assumed human form before then, I imagine they could but it was unique individuals who had a motive to do so. Emperor Hardin (talk) 04:14, April 28, 2017 (UTC)

I checked the translation by Kantopia, and no such word was used, not even a translation note indication that such a word was there. They actually cited Amielleon, but only to clarify the difference in Kyza's speech in the two versions. Reading Amielleon's post, a translation of a older profile from a few years back, after the fact they went back and edited in an admission that they were also unsure of the exact meaning of the phrase in context, if it meant he was gay, trans, or just a drag queen....and also that the phrase was also a offensive slur, whoops. (Also, I think Amielleon's post was what started the "Is Kyza trans?" discourse here in the first place and the conclusion there was the same as now: nothing conclusive.) Based on Amielleon's post, we could probably justify saying he's gay, but that's it.
Also, the one time we see Aenir, it's as a dragon (embracing Nergal even!). Unless Ninian and Nils mention her in their supports (which I doubt) we have no indication she took human form and thus shouldn't speculate that she did solely because she had a relationship with Nergal.--Otherarrow (talk) 11:44, April 28, 2017 (UTC)
I believe Awakening used that same term to refer to Excellus, whoops indeed. Well if she had kids with Nergal, I sincerely hope she took a human form. Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:23, April 28, 2017 (UTC)

Archetype Dispute "merric" Edit

Sorry to bother you but we're having a bit of a dispute on the Merric Archetypes. GreatDane112 insists that Lugh is a Merric and insists on adding that a Merric has a relationship with the main lord. However, since we did not include Ricken, despite strong similarities, especially if we include the whole Lord relationship thing, Lugh doesn't qualify as the only similarities is he is the first Mage and that his personality is basically the same. I've tried to say that he does not have a mentor mentioned, does not have a real relationship to the lord other than recruitment, and doesn't even use wind magic. I've laid out most of the inconsistencies, even his new "trait" where the Lord relationship applies to 4 out of the 10 Merrics. Dunno about your thoughts but I thought it would be best to bring this to you to stop my edit war with him. Again, sorry to trouble you with this. I'd rather leave this to you to get a final answer.—Nauibotics (talk) 07:59, May 2, 2017 (UTC)

Featured Wiki VideosEdit

Hey Otherarrow. I'm Julia from Fandom's Community team -- remember me from our email conversation? ;) By now you may have seen our announcement about Wiki Modernization and how we're using featured wiki videos to reduce the number of ads on the site and improve the performance of all Fandom wikis.

For the future we plan to have wiki videos in many communities and probably also on Fire Emblem Wiki wiki. If you are interested in which video types we might use you can find some great examples in this blog post. When we start producing videos we maybe will also reach out to you, other admins, and users to be involved in writing video scripts or being part of the production process.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks! Springteufel (talk) 10:28, May 3, 2017 (UTC)

Enabling DiscussionsEdit

Hey there, Otherarrow! Hope all has been well for you -I wanted to stop in and gauge your and the community's interest in enabling the Discussions module on the Fire Emblem community, and whether you would be open to a full migration from Forums to Discussions at this time.

Discussions support desktop and mobile posts, feature an upvote system, and support multiple boards of different topics. They are also tied into our Community Apps, (Fire Emblem Wiki currently has one ), which can bring in more community engagement and potential wiki editors.

I can handle all enabling on my end with no additional work on yours. Let me know if this is something that sounds beneficial to you and the community. We can enable the Discussions and keep the Forum in place for now if that's the route you prefer as well. Thanks and have a great day! TheBlueRogue @fandom •(profile)•(talk)•( 18:10, September 20, 2017 (UTC)

This is something to be proposed to Khang at the moment (see the top of the page!) but I recall the same thing being proposed at the Megami Tensei Wiki concerns I rose then was never responded to. In that...I have no idea what said feature even does and how it is any different from the existing forum format. It all seems kinda like pointless to me. PREDIT:You were the same person who proposed it on the Megami Tensei Wiki. I am never getting a response to this post, am I?--Otherarrow (talk) 20:06, September 20, 2017 (UTC)
Alright, that's my bad! since I saw you edited recently I thought that notice might have been outdated but I'll definitely bring this up to Khang. I'm sorry for not getting back to you on the Megami wiki! (being staff and jumping between a tooooon of communities every month can result in talk page replies slipping between the cracks sometimes). I remember I enabled it quickly without explaining much of it, so this time around I wanted to give you ample heads up.
Think of the Discussion feature as a mobile/desktop forum module. You can create different themed boards (anime/games/help/general/wiki suggestions, etc) and users can post topics that other users can reply to. It's essentially a more approachable forum (i.e. Non-MediaWiki) that's formatted cleaner than our old school one. A big benefit is the fact that users who download the Community Apps have an easy link to Discussions, which results in a lot of users asking questions/starting conversations and hopefully being interested in the wiki and becoming editors themselves! The old school forum is a bit hidden away so a lot of users don't have any idea it's there. Hope that clarifies a bit - if you'd like anything else explained better let me know and I'll do my best.
I'll shoot this message to Khang, enjoy the hiatus man, everybody needs 'em every once in a while! TheBlueRogue @fandom •(profile)•(talk)•( 20:23, September 20, 2017 (UTC)

Any suggestions for my Warriors Class Sandbox Edit

I have a sandbox for FIre Emblem Warriors classes. Do you have any suggestions for it before I finalize it and make it an article. I was thinking of putting defining "Clone" and "Half Clone" in the intro before the class list so the notes sectino wouldnt be so long. Like for instance instead of saying "Sorcerer is a clone of Grandmaster " and "Warrior shares moves with War Cleric" in the notes section for the class brackets, it'd instead say "Clone of Grandmaster" for Sorcerer's note brackets and "Half Clone of War Cleric" for Warrior. Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:38, October 11, 2017 (UTC)

Manakete and Dragon names Edit

I think Dragon Man tribes is used sometimes in Japan, but Dragon Tribe is definitely used to refer to Manaketes. Such as Forseti describing him and Naga as members. Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:19, October 26, 2017 (UTC)

So despite what is written on the page, the terms are basically interchangeable? If so, I think we should remove the Dragon Man note and rephrase the rest to comment that both Manaketes and feral Dragons are referred to as a whole as the Dragon Brethren, as that seems to be the localized term to refer to the Dragon Tribe as a whole. (though if you can think of a more natural way to work that termonology in, by all means!) EDIT:How it's phrased now is fine actually! Thank you!--Otherarrow (talk) 22:47, October 26, 2017 (UTC)
The impression I get is Dragon man tribe is Manakete only, but Dragon tribe refers to both Non Manakete Dragons and Manaketes. Like all Manaketes are members of the Dragon tribe, budt not all Dragon tribe members are part of the Dragon Man/Manakete tribe. So Forseti and Loptyr can both be described as Dragon tribe members, but only Forseti can be described as apart of the Manakete tribe, which occasionally shows up in english games/translations like with Malledus's history lesson. Glad the current wording works. Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:30, October 27, 2017 (UTC)

Another Manakete topic Edit

so in FE15 and FEW, the latter of which is a disappointment by the way, a dragon/Manakete type called Fafnir is introduced. In SOV, rare mobs can be found most of which are variants of other monster classes with new names, bizarre descriptions, and much higher stats. One of which is Fafnir, a larger Draco Zombie recolored dark purple. The most interesting thing about it is Fafnir’s portraits depicts as a living Dragon, entirely unlike the Dracozombie enemy types, but just like the Fire Dragon ones, Fafnir enemy units are named “Dragon Brethern” instead of “Terror” and their description says they are a rare dragon race. Despite this, they are in the monster/terorr category rather then the dragon one and their model depicts them as decaying. Anyhow in FEW, Enemy Manaketes are Fire Dragons, yet their promoted/high level counterpart is Fafnir. Fafnirs here are Black Dragons with Black Breath, similar to the Black Dragon Laguz or Dark Dragons. Like the Fire Dragon Manaketes, all of them are members of the original Villains army and they get standard villain dialogue. With all this on mind, any idea on how to deal with the Fafnir page? Do you like how it is now? Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:44, October 27, 2017 (UTC)

On one hand, it's very likely that the two were conceived separately since a dragon enemy named Fafnir is hardly an original concept (and I think FEW was developed parallel to Echoes, hense why the only Echoes rep in the game is a Celica that seems to have been a late addition) but on the other, they pass the squint test for being the same entity: both are powerful 'dark' colored dragons in at least nominal opposition to mankind (even if because the ones in Echoes are likely feral).
The exact gameplay function is worth noting in their respective sections, the Echoes version is a Necrodragon variant, the other a Fire Dragon variant but aside from that treat them as if they were the same entity. It'd be far from the first time two games treated the same type of class/creature differently (Heck, look at the Necrodragon itself!)
It's worth noting that all the Necrodragon variants are counted as Terrors and not Dragons, even though only the Necrodragon itself is undead (the White Dragon seems to be 'revived' but is counted as a Dragon Brethren and the Fafnir is just...alive.) This is likely for gameplay purposes, as all three are high tier enemies of the same 'type' and two of them are mandatory fights, while the only anti-Dragon weapon, the Falchion, is obtained after the player fights White Dragons and potentially Fafnirs. Before the post game, the only Dragon type enemy that can be fought, the Dagon, is rare and entirely optional.
As for how the page is, do what you feel is best, I'm on hiatus remember? You also don't need permission to edit.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:15, October 27, 2017 (UTC)
Basically yeah, though SOV's Fafnir may have a different appearance in lore, note similar rare spawn Garuda is called a bird despite being a gargoyle recolor.
Related note, they can be found in Thabes. Emperor Hardin (talk) 05:42, November 3, 2017 (UTC)

More on Warriors Edit

Sorry my edit reason didn't get across due to a browser error, but the reason I removed those classes from the Warriors class page is its actually the unit name. For example, Hoshidan Fighters are called "Oni Savage", but looking at their stats on the map show Oni Savage is their name, while their class is still listed as Fighter. Think of it like how Bazba's Bandits are called Cutthroat.Emperor Hardin (talk) 05:42, November 3, 2017 (UTC)

Actually I just went back over the videos (more specifically, Omegaevolution's playthrough) and checked - you're wrong, Hardin, the classes really are Steel Knight/Oni Savage/Diviner/etc. Also, I found that Hoshidan clone of Cavalier is called "Expert Rider". Also, are there any playable Cavaliers? Myrmidons being in Playable I can get, since we will get Owain and Navarre eventually, but I don't recall there being any playable cavaliers. About Unnamedgoon Edit

Hi, from what I can see, he didn't try to use the slur to offend anyone, although he's in the wrong, he doesn't deserve to get block indefinitely. So, is speculation allowed or not? Unnamedgoon (talk) 00:11, December 19, 2017 (UTC)
If it's completely baseless or trying to read into intent that isn't there, nah. If it's something that has a clear if not explicitly stated connection (such as Ike's variant move that shoots a wind wave being a reference to the sword of the same name from his game that shoots a wind wave), having it doesn't necessarily hurt. That's my take anyway.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:01, December 19, 2017 (UTC)
And will it be acceptable if I talk about Heinrich Himmler in the Etymology of the Heimler page, like in this other page? Just a reminder, Heimler was originally called Himmler. Unnamedgoon (talk) 02:35, December 19, 2017 (UTC)
I'll take your silence as a yes. Unnamedgoon (talk) 14:22, December 19, 2017 (UTC)
Last chance: are you going to undo my edit on Heimler if I put those things on the Etymology? Unnamedgoon (talk) 23:30, December 19, 2017 (UTC)
Since you can't read the notice on the top of my page and this talk page, I will tell you outright to stop messaging me. Let me repeat something I've said to other users multiple times: You don't need permission to edit. Stop asking me if it's "ok" for you to make an edit. It's a wiki.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:06, December 20, 2017 (UTC)
You undid at least two of my edits for almost no reason, how am I supposed to know you won't do it again? Unnamedgoon (talk) 00:32, December 20, 2017 (UTC)

Ending WinterEdit

The Ending Winter of Elibe and the decline of the dragons of Archanea can't be one and the same.

It's all in what Xane says in New Mystery of the Emblem:

"If you really wanna know... Tens of thousands of years ago, the dragon tribe settled down on this continent, and created a civilization. They possessed intellect and abilities far exceedin' those of humans. But suddenly, outta nowhere, their day of destruction came. At first, they couldn't bear children. Then they began to lose their minds, goin' berserk one after the next. The elders warned that the end of dragons as a species was approachin'. There was no longer any way to prevent it. However, there was one way they could survive: to discard their identities as dragons and live on as humans. The dragons fell into a panic. Those who believed the elders sealed their forms within stones and became humans. But those who couldn't throw away their pride as a dragon; those who adamantly refused to become human... They eventually lost their minds and became naught but beasts..." The Ending Winter had the dragons become Manakete for the sole purpose of preserving their energy to survive the climate change. However, Archanea explicitely states that reason to become Manaketes was due to degeneration. None of the Elibe Dragons ever mentioned degeneration if I recall.  Omegaxis1 (talk) 17:57, January 13, 2018 (UTC)

Yep, Elibe dragons were only sealed away, no degeneration. Unnamedgoon (talk) 18:36, January 13, 2018 (UTC)

Race in the infobox Edit

Should we really just put "Human" in the race infobox? Outside of a few characters like the Beorc or Manaketes, virtually everyone is going to be a human. Due to this, have you considered making race also nationality? Like Eirika and Ephraim infobox either says "Renais human" or just "Renais."  Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:42, February 22, 2018 (UTC)

Berwick Saga and Archetypes Edit

Dean does have a mysterious past and ambigious relationship with the starting cleric, Izerna. From what I've seen he has a personality like Navarre anyhow. Though perhaps we should wait till the translation is finished. By the way, in Berwick Saga, I'm thinking we should change the name of the Dark Knight (Berwick Saga) article, looking at the Japanese name, its spelled quite differently from past Dark Knights. I'm thinking something like Raze Knight would be a more fitting article name. Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:28, March 12, 2018 (UTC)

I don't think we should be "making up" names for classes solely to avoid disambiging them from other classes. it's worth noting that we've had classes whose exact Japanese name has changed, but the general translation was the same (Dark Dragon off the top of my head). If the Japanese does turn out to translate to something other than "Dark Knight" sure, but if its basically another way to write "Dark Knight", then there is nothing we can do. EDIT: and while I may slip up and edit since...I'm am idiot, I am still on hiatus and trying to ween myself off so please bring these things up on the talk pages/with the other admins instead. --Otherarrow (talk) 23:30, March 12, 2018 (UTC)
Looking at the name again, its definitely spelled differently then the other dark Knights such as the one from Tearring Saga, whose Japanese name is literally the english word "Dark Knight" directly written in Japanese. The BS class when translated by BING says "Dark Knight of the church, something unique to it. Perhaps something like Shade Knight would do for now? The subject has been taken to the class page. Naga's gender(not a wiki concern) Edit

I've read in a Fire Emblem translation blog that both Xane and Gotoh use generally masculine terms to refer to Naga in Mystery and its remake, but the Jugdral backstory definitely refer to Naga as appearing as a young girl. Who knows what Kaga planned? Also are you ok with having conversations here or do you prefer the serenesforest forums? Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:50, March 26, 2018 (UTC)

Honestly? I have no idea why you brought this up and don't want to hear about something we already have written down on the wiki. If this is new information that affects the wiki, bring it up on the talk page (though you said it is not a wiki concern, so...?)--Otherarrow (talk) 23:06, March 26, 2018 (UTC)
I meant, I think Kaga intended Naga's gender to be a surprise/ambiguous, another guess is he changed his mind on naga's gender later on. Anyhow King is whats used in all current english localizations, even when Naga is referred to as female. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:14, March 26, 2018 (UTC)

To explain Derrick Edit

Those I've talked to say Derrick's identity/name is never directly given, even Derrick himself talks in muffles due to his armor and nothing is given on him other then being mercenary who will work for the protagonists dirt cheap. A major recurring NPC is Almut/Olmut, a bookish pretty boy, who writes down the record of the whole war. While never directly stated ingame, there are very strong hints that Derrick is actually Almut/Olmut undercover as a mercenary, this is confirmed in Kaga's blog if there was any doubt. This is also why Derrick is such a bad Armor Knight, Almut/Olmut is a priest(he appears on the overwolrd/out of battle sections), he is literally a magic user reclassed into a tank classs, Kaga seemed to like combining gameplay and story elements like that. Basically Derrick is a bit of a joke. Almut/Olmut has a portrait, I think he had blue hair and a red cape. The real armor in all but category is Marcel who even has the movement of an armor unit level 14. I think Derrick is a fake/undercover name and Olmut/Almut is his real name. I can give more info if you want. Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:07, April 1, 2018 (UTC)

The translations of Kaga's notes refer to Derrick Almuth as if it were a full name (in other words, Derrick Almuth) so I think it's more a case where the character goes by his family name "professionally" and his given name when undercover, but otherwise all that matches up with what I've read. I think he is tied to the Lowlands in some way, considering his support bonus with Enid (and how someone I asked pointed to that as a link to his identity) but again I dunno.--Otherarrow (talk) 23:30, April 1, 2018 (UTC)
Ah, I wasn't aware of that info on Kaga's blog, guess it is his last name. Think we should spoiler his identity? I'll have to research more then into the lowlands connection.
To give an example on Marcel and Guardian's connection to Armored units, their class animations depict them slowly marching towards their opponent with heavy steps just as Armored units. Not being an Armor unit, does mean they can walk over more terrain types, as Armored units have even more restricted terrain then usual such as not being able to move on desert tiles. I'd guess these extra terrain restrictions were done to make clear of Derrick's joke character status, Kaga's Tearring with Berwick mechanics indicated those terrain restrictions wouldn't reappear. For reference, in TRS, Armored units could move all terrain infantry could with the exception of poison swamp tiles.
Funnily enough, Hammers are rarely used by the enemies in Berwick and I read there is only one time where Derrick can even meet a hammer using enemy.
Interesting trivia, LPers say DErrick is more useful then Gwendolyn/Wendy despite being a gag characters Nicovideo has some videos of people clearing the final chapter with Derrick. Armor Knight have decent caps in the game, which are virtually identical to Guardian. Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:13, April 2, 2018 (UTC)
Ah I thought you were going to elaborate on Derrick, not the Marcel/Guard Knight thing. I think Marcel being the "proper" armor knight unit despite being called that seems to be an open secret by now.--Otherarrow (talk) 00:55, April 2, 2018 (UTC)
I think we pretty much know the same info on Derrick/Almut storewide, though I can tell you some gameplay info on him.
Lpers I've talked to said Derrick has very specific uses early on. Characters in Berwick Saga have very low defense in general, so Derrick's base defense of 12 is unmatched. Think of it like a Sacred Stones unit with 25 defense. His biggest problem is the terrain restrictions mentioned prior, but he makes a great wall in several side missions, so he's not completely useless.
Speaking of caps, in Berwick, the only class caps are weapon accuracy. Most playable classes have caps at 50. For example, Armor Knight has 50 axe and 40 large Shield Rank, while Guardian has 40 Sword and 50 Large shield rank. The highest equipment rank is 60, which only a few classes have. Any idea on how to document it on the wiki.
Any weapon stat above 50 adds a critical bonus, a Duke Knight with 55 spear skill has a +5% critical bonus, while if he increases his spear rank to 60, he will possess a +10% critical.
Some enemy caps are known. For example, we can see Dark Crusader's weapon caps as all of Chaos weapon ranks are maxed out, same with General. But we don't see a max weapon rank, Gigas Knight, thus we all we know is their max axe rank is at least 50. MatthewTrs, member of the translation, says he will eventually post the weapon ranks of the unplayable classes like Gigas Knight taken from the internal data.

So handling Leon, Kyza, and Excellus. Edit

They all use female pronouns in the Japanese version, Kyza mainly in private, while Excellus and Leon in general. All are referred to as "Okama", closest english equivalent is queer, basically it applies to LGBT people as a whole. In the mind of Japanese pop culture, transvestites and homosexual are often viewed as interchangeable. A stereotypical homosexual in Japan uses female pronouns, Excellus is designed after the traditional aging okama appearance used in many works. Not very progressive I know, any suggestions on how to handle this in the articles? Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:29, April 5, 2018 (UTC)

They're gay. I don't understand what the issue here is. Are You Serious (talk) 23:15, April 5, 2018 (UTC)
What I mean is how should this be worded in the article. Saying "Excellus is stereotypically gay" might come off as unprofessional for a wiki. Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:39, April 7, 2018 (UTC)
Just noting their speaking patterns should be enough. Maybe a note about how the "male body, female heart??" tease in that profile implies Kyza might be a transwoman, but otherwise leave any non-Leon sexuality speculation out of it.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:29, April 7, 2018 (UTC)
Ok, that sounds good, I'll just note they use a feminine speaking manner. In Japan/several cultures, there is a common misconception that transwoman/gay-men are the same with no distinction. The word used to refer to both is Okama. The word is somewhat controversial, though it is commonly still used in Japanese media and there are LGBT groups that use the term. I think Rickard might also use similar when speaking to Julian, possibly some of the bandit twins too. Valtome, I've heard doesn't use that speaking tone. Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:47, April 7, 2018 (UTC)

i find this EXTREMELY offensive.. maybe you just don't care what damage you doThe preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

What do you find offensive exactly? If its the speaking pattern things, blame IS for resulting to sterotypes. If the mere idea that Kyza might be trans bothers you, you should probably just leave. We don't tolerate bigots here.--Otherarrow (talk) 01:34, April 7, 2018 (UTC)

I was not the one who made assumptions about feminine speaking.. It is very childish to throw out a "you are a bigot comment" with no basis for that other than not liking a comment. in fact a bigot is defined as a person who is intolerant towards those holding different opinions. and you have displayed intolerance to my opinion. And yes I WILL leave rather than deal with idiots like yourself. In fact I NEVER signed up to this as I have read so many ridiculous comments. The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

As mentioned by Emperor Hardin, the speaking patterns are a gay sterotype over in Japan, so it wasn't an assumption so much as...discussion I suppose. I don't know what your opinion is because you never actually said it, just that you were offended. The only thing of note I said that prompted your message was the idea that Kyza was a transwoman, so you getting offended in response to that has bad implications on you. I've said this before, but the wiki doesn't tolerate bigotry like homophobia or transphobia, and I was trying to give you a warning.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:16, April 7, 2018 (UTC)

Small talk on Berwick and other subjects Edit

So the Dark Crusader class in Berwick Saga has full animations for using Dark Magic within the game as seen in this [video] by eatrawmeat391. I'm impressed at how perfect the unused animations are, I wonder why no Dark Crusader used Dark Magic within the game. I have to say the more I find out about Berwick Saga, the more interested I become.

So the Marth wikia video was removed after I talked to the community staff, they were extremely polite and receptive, I'm impressed by the service. I'm thinking in the future, we can get a specific editor to work on Fire Emblem wikia videos to make sure they are accurate and contain relevant footage. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:37, May 2, 2018 (UTC)

You were right on our friend Derrick's name.

Kaga says on his blog as translated by Aethin  "A derrick (デリック) is a type of large crane. Since they can be used to lift heavy items as well as help survey undersea wrecks, I wanted Professor Almuth’s first name to give the impression of historical site exploration."

I don't wanna immediately spoiler Derrick's identity, but then again we haven't kept Black Knight's identity secret, its even a redirect. I'm going to guess Derrick's personal name isn't widely known outside his home in the lowlands.

Aethin and I did decided to try a test with Almut's data. Turns out his class in the game engine during his overworld appearances is Holy Knight, a male version of the same class as Paramythis. Aethin said this is likely just as a placeholder similar to Bishop Elincia in POR as Holy Knights are a particularly exclusive order located in a certain region.

Almut’s personal data are connected to Derrick’s. Funnily enough, Derrick Almut in both his bookworm and Armor form literally has zero personal base stats, basically he’s running entirely on the class bases of Armor Knight(Holy Knight for the NPC version) and without class base stats added, he has no stats of any kind! Emperor Hardin (talk) 06:51, May 6, 2018 (UTC)

That's pretty fascinating. I guess since he is the only playable Armor Knight (if not the only named one?) there is no reason to give him specialized stats, and yeah his NPC version won't see action anyway. Though I am curious as to why you are rambling this to me and not, say, adding it to the article. (as for spoilers, if it bothers you so much you can include a spoiler tag in his Profile section and include the Almuth stuff there.)--Otherarrow (talk) 11:54, May 6, 2018 (UTC)
I believe the enemy Armor Knights use those same class bases, I'll try to get all the Berwick class bases eventually. I think Almut lacking personal stats is again emphasizing he shouldn't be fighting in any form! It is cool that his two forms share the same data, even though they didn't need to. There are named miniboss Armor Knights per what I've seen, one of which appears to use Derrick's exact portrait(not a different angle shot, literally the same helmeted portrait Derrick uses). I'll try and add spoiler tags. I just don't want to spoil for Berwick Saga's english players as the translation is almost finished. Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:37, May 6, 2018 (UTC)

Avatar's default names? Edit

I know you're on a break, but since khang hasn't shown up in quite a while, I have to know: Shouldn't we rename the avatar pages to their default names? Sure, their names can be decided by the player, but with many appereances going so far as adressing them directly by said names, it feels more appropriate than creating disambiguations for a term that is usually considered a mechanic than a character.--2804:7F2:8180:DF76:221:97FF:FE74:C72D 01:18, May 3, 2018 (UTC)

Dude, you need more admins. There are only three admins on this site and two of them have not been on for a long time. I would say give EmperorHardin the admin role because he is on the most and helps out the wiki.

Also, Kruggov would be a good admin.

And MoroseLark.

hi Otherarrow, i've been looking after the Ike page for a long time and have made sure it stayed in order, if theres any mistakes i made undoing what you did then you can change it back but the family parts stays as is.Evilcivilian (talk) 19:13, September 2, 2018 (UTC)

Ike's page Edit

Otherarrow i told you the family part on Ike's page stays as is where Ike's decendent Priam is canonically from a game where Ike isn't originally from, the Fire Emblem Awakening part is to indicate that for canon reasons, the other revisions you did can be changed back.Evilcivilian (talk) 19:22, September 2, 2018 (UTC)

Priam isn't a Fire Emblem Awakening, much less Ike's Fire Emblem Awakening. There really is no reason to change it.--Otherarrow (talk) 19:55, September 2, 2018 (UTC)

Ike's page/Fire Emblem Awakening Edit

i put Fire Emblem Awakening next to priam to INDICATE where he came from, ike dosen't originally come from the world of Fire Emblem Awakening as stated by the creators it's an extra add-on to a "what-if" story in Fire Emblem Awakening. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Evilcivilian (talk • contribs).

I don't recall them saying that Priam was non-canon, in fact they explicitly explain how Ike's lineage ended up in Valentia/Valm (Ike came through the Outrealm Gate at some point). Priam being in a different game than Ike doesn't mean we should treat him any differently than any other character (like, we don't go to Saias's page and label Arvis "Father/Genealogy of the Holy War"). That kind of thing just serves to confuse people and doesn't add anything.--Otherarrow (talk) 02:39, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

Ike's page/Fire Emblem Awakening pt 2 Edit

ike isn't from Fire Emblem Awakening chracters who crossover in other games aren't canon you can't just take what you see and just call it whatever you like, all i put is to indicate something as to what is originated from, people should not get the wrong idea with false information, this is to clarfify things. also, crossover characters are not canon unless stated by the creators in which they've never stated ike's precense in Fire Emblem Awakening to be canon, it was just an add-on since it was not part of the canon story of the game. Evilcivilian (talk) 16:04, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

Priam is never stated not to be canon and how can Ike be a crossover character in his own series? They never stated Priam's appearance NOT to be canon either. It's just "there is this guy Priam, he claims to be Ike's descendent; they say Ike came through the Outrealm Gate ages ago".--Otherarrow (talk) 17:48, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

otherarrow, Echoes isn't the title of Shadows of Valentia. its a brand name. its in red and next to fire emblem not at after it. the creators even said they  will be reusing it for other remakes, do you want people to get confused?

It was never stated to be a brand name; at most after the fact they made a offhand "sure, we might make more Echoes games, haha Roy's game seems cool" statement; contrast with them saying that they chose the name "Echoes" specifically to invoke Gaiden, as in the game Echoes is remaking, without having to resort to something awkward like "Shin Gaiden" (New Sidestory). Until they actually announce a new name with the Echoes subtitle, changing all the Echoes to Shadows of Valentia is nothing but pointless and pedantric especially if that's the only thing you are doing in the edit. But whatever.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:48, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

Ike/Priam Edit

and priam is never stated to be canon either and like i said, crossover characters in games are not slated to be canon either, does ike originally come from Fire Emblem Awakening? no. the outrealm gate consists of add-ons thats non-canon with characters coming from games they mainly debut in, other games with their own time sequences have non-canon stories where you don't even need the creators to step in and say anything, it's just common sense to tell whats apart of the main plot or not.Evilcivilian (talk) 18:37, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

Your arguement as to why Priam isn't canon is solely "the devs didn't explicitly say he was canon", they shouldn't have to. That's like if I arbitrarily said that Tiki wasn't canon because the devs didn't say "Tiki is a canon character" anywhere and she didn't originally come from Awakening either. The fact that he's a character in the game that the player can access without purchasing DLC or the like implies he is unquestionably canon.
Also, you do know that the Outrealm Gate is explicitly used in Awakening's plot, right? Like, your logic that the outrealm gate consists of "noncanon add ons" implies that Lucina and all the child characters are noncanon. (also, stop making new sections to continue the same conversation)--Otherarrow (talk) 18:47, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

excuse me but like i said did ike originally come from Fire Emblem Awakening? if not then it's not canon, a DLC is a DLC especially if a story sequence is HIGHLY not a prt of the plot, right now you sound like one of those people who are being insecure all i did was add "[Fire Emblem Awakening]" next to Ike and Priam's family relations to point out the true origins since it's not like priam exists in the same world as where ike originated from in the first place and yet you act like it's such a big deal.Evilcivilian (talk) 19:56, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

If I may chime in, Awakening does a lot because it is meant to connect all of the franchise's titles. Additionally, whether or not he is a "canon" character is not up for debate. He exists, the developers fleshed out his history and backstory, and you have no way of deconfirming his status as no Iwata Asks, Nintendo pannel, nor Knights of Iris deny his existence or supposed "canon" status in the story. Ike's fate after Radiant Dawn is that he vanished from Tellius, and due to the nature of Awakening he wound up in Valm because Awakening is supposed to serve as a merge between ALL titles in the franchise. Keep in mind, the developers of the Tellius Series had no idea that Awakening was going to do that so they can do whatever they want with their characters and make it canon by the existence of a character that appears in their future games.
Secondly, adding (Fire Emblem Awakening) next to their family relations do nothing to enhance the pages. Priam claims to be his descendant and there is strong indication that he truly is, thus that is all the indication we need. It's not like we put "Altean Royal Family (Archanea Saga)" on Chrom/Lucina/Lissa/Emmeryn's page. We know where they come from and we do not need to indicate that we only learned of this in Awakening or whatever. That is called "fluff" editing, which does nothing substantial to the page. -Nauibotics (talk) 20:05, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

i was being accurate, it doesn't hurt to add necessary fair information.Evilcivilian (talk) 20:11, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

Accurate, perhaps. Necessary, not so much. Again, that's called "fluff" editing.-Nauibotics (talk) 20:14, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

if you agree it's accurate then whats the problem? insecure much?Evilcivilian (talk) 20:27, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

I didn't say I agree. What I said was that it is a completely unnecessary addition that serves no purpose.-Nauibotics (talk) 20:33, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

to say "Accurate, perhaps." obviously means you'd agree you're already contradicting what you said.

An accurate statement in this context is like saying "Priam has blue hair". That much is obvious and we will NOT add that sort of information to the page as it serves no purpose. That is the same vein in which you are trying to push the (Fire Emblem Awakening) addition to Ike/Priam's relatives sections. Obvious information that can be gleaned from the page already serves no purpose otherwise. Adding your stuff is, for the third time, "fluff" editing.-Nauibotics (talk) 20:46, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

what i was putting was for canon reasons, what you're saying to justify what i put is a poor example and excuse stop trying, besides i was dealing with the admin in the first place and you're not THE admin or one at all.Evilcivilian (talk) 21:09, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

It's a "fluff" edit and your "canon" reason for adding it is already on the page in another way. Otherarrow was the one to remove it this time, not me nor ThunderBrine. Hence the admin already made the final call to undo the edit and locked Ike's page from everyone simply. Your insistence, lackluster reasoning, and lack of care for his final call lead to that happening. Secondly, yes I am not an admin, but as a regular and long time editor, I have way more experience knowing the direction this wiki is handling itself more than you. All I am doing is giving you a reasonable explanation why we are not adding your edits. It's simply unnecessary, nothing more. Otherarrow has given his verdict, other regulars share this view. Ergo, leave it at that. I am trying to explain this to you as plainly and calmly as possible.-Nauibotics (talk) 21:28, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

like i said i wasn't dealing with you, i only deal with the admin whos in charge don't act like you're so big cause you're an editor.

Hey, like I said from the very beginning of this, I was just chiming in to help Otherarrow who is technically on a semi-permanent hiatus if you read his user page. No need to be so abrasive.-Nauibotics (talk) 21:50, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

Changing image file extensions Edit

Berwick derrick

You know it could be helpful if someone like me could change images from things like JPG to PNG. A lot of the portraits we have are JPG, but a PNG version of the image is much clear. Like if I turn this Derrick JPG into a png, the black background becomes clear. Just something to think about it. Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:11, February 10, 2019 (UTC)

Admins Edit

OtherArrow! I've noticed how you are still an active user here! Now I'd like to tell you something, the discussions page is in dire need of help, we don't have any admin who even looks at it, and nobody is promoted to mod. Now I thought all admins had jump ship, but when I tried to adopt the wiki, it said you were active and well, it looks like you're still making edits. I'd like to ask you to solve this discussions problem by promoting a discussions active admin, and maybe a few mods. Please and thank you Lemonz1974 (talk) 16:08, February 17, 2019 (UTC)

Considering you have only just started editing the wiki I'd be surprised if they'd let you adopt it to be honest. Anyway, Discussions was an unwelcome addition to the wiki and if I had a choice I'd just disable it entirely but maybe new admins would know how to handle it better. I rose the question of new admins in the forums a few days ago to no response and I will likely just go ahead and promote my recommendations.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:29, February 17, 2019 (UTC)
It seems the feature was approved by Khang without realizing that it'd become a largely separate feature unconnected to the rest of the wiki; taking a look it doesn't look like there is a "problem" so much as its just largely just users treating it as if it was a FE themed social media platform, which was likely Wikia's intention. If at all possible I'd re-disable the feature (since despite Khang's optimism it doesn't seem to be affecting wikiside things at all) but we'll see.--Otherarrow (talk) 17:38, February 17, 2019 (UTC)

Apology Edit

Hi, it's good to see you're still active and I apologize for the long absence without prior notice. There were a lot of things I had to focus on that I had to quit the wiki. Now that I'm back, I'll try to keep up with the changes and edit here and there to help out. Sorry for any trouble caused due to my absence. --Khang (talk) 14:31, February 18, 2019 (UTC)

No its fine! Life happens, its OK! I made an announcement about appointing new admins on the forums, could you take a look at that and give your input as well? (while you are here, do you want to be a bcrat? You already proven yourself as an admin and all)--Otherarrow (talk) 15:50, February 18, 2019 (UTC)
I really appreciate that but I have to decline your offer. I see myself not a responsible person enough to receive any more privilege and you have been doing a wonderful job as an admin and bureaucrat. -- Khang (talk) 05:46, February 19, 2019 (UTC)

My apology Edit

Hello, Otherarrow, yes I am Mitchell20 and I understand I'm not allowed to make a second account. But I really wanted to express my apology to both you and the community around here. I am sorry that I did not respect both you and your wiki, I am sorry for making a childish blog throwing insults at Nauibotics, I should've known better than this, and even before this, I have made some contributions to the wiki, like the deeprealm mountain page and some accurate edits here and there. But I would like to ask for forgiveness, and even if you don't forgive me right now. I will do anything for your forgiveness. I look forward to your response. MT2000 (talk) 01:17, August 22, 2019 (UTC) 17:04, August 28, 2019 (UTC) Please do all Edelgard's Quotes!
