Viscount Kleiman does not appear in person in Three Houses, but after the Kingdom army captures Fort Merceus, one of his soldiers is captured and interrogated by Matthias and later Dimitri, where the prisoner implicates himself and the viscount in the Tragedy of Duscur.

Viscount Kleiman's role in the Tragedy is reaffirmed in the alternate timeline of Three Hopes.

During the battle for Fhirdiad in 1180, Viscount Kleiman is summoned by Cornelia to reinforce Rufus' army, which he accepts, believing Dimitri to be an usurper. He and his soldiers are defeated and captured for further questioning.

He is one of four lords (along with Viscounts Mateus, Elidure, and Gideon) named in Matthias' investigation as having accepted compensation from the Adrestian Empire to betray King Lambert.
