The Volant Axe is an Axe that debuted in Fire Emblem Awakening.
Overview[]
This axe possesses the special property of inflicting effective damage against Flying Units, but this is offset by its low Durability.
The axe returns in the spin-off title Fire Emblem Warriors, serving the same purpose.
Fire Emblem Engage features a different axe with similar properties; the Hurricane Axe.

Trivia[]
- The Volant Axe is the only Axe weapon that deals effective damage to flying units. It is especially potent against the Pegasus Knight class line, the classes in which specialize in Lances (which are beaten by Axes in the Weapon Triangle) and have weak physical Defenses.
- The visual design of the Volant Axe seems to be heavily inspired by certain models of kpingas. Like a kpinga, the Volant Axe is a multi-pronged bladed throwing weapon, albeit one stated to be designed to be thrown skyward more so than at grounded targets.
- The Fates enemy exclusive Iron Star Axe, Steel Star Axe and Silver Star Axe all bear a resemblance to the Volant Axe in both appearance and range, but lack the effectiveness against Flier units.
