Weapons with effectiveness deal increased damage to certain class types. However, the formula is different for each game and in some english releases.
- FE1-FE3: Triple weapon strength.
- FE4: A critical hit is guaranteed.
- FE5: Character's total might times 3.
- FE6: Triple weapon strength.
- FE7: Triple weapon strength, however in english releases this has been decreased to double.
- FE8: Same as FE7, however Sieglinde and Siegmund are, for some reason, exempt from this. The Bishop's Slayer skill is also overwritten by Ivaldi's double weapon strength instead of the skill's triple.
- FE10: Triple weapon strength.
Bows are effective to flying units. In Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Bows are not effective against Dracoknights.
The Rapier, Mani Katti, Wolf Beil, Reginleif and Thani are effective to heavy-armored and horse-mount units, excluding pegasi. In Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi Rapiers are not effective to Troubadours and Valkyries.
The Zanbato, Horseslayer and Halberd are effective against horse-mounted units, excluding pegasi.
The Armor Slayer, Heavy Spear and Hammer are effective against highly-armored units such as Generals.
The Wyrmslayer, Dragonspear and Dragon Axe are effective against Wyverns and Dragons.
The Wind Sword is effective against Flying Units.
The Shadowkiller, Bright Lance, Fiendcleaver, Beacon Bow are effective against Monsters in Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, however they were not included in the localized release of the game.
In Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones all Sacred Weapons except Gleipnir are effective against Monsters.
In Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones the Bishop has the skill Slayer.
In Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi the magic Aircalibur is effective against fliers.
In Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, Fire Magic is effective against Beast Tribe Laguz.
In Thracia 776, Fūin no Tsurugi, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, Wind Magic is effective against fliers, except Dracoknights in Radiant Dawn.
In Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, Thunder Magic is effective against Dragon Tribe Laguz.
