FE12 Chapter 18 Opening
“The Wolfguard's strength is not mine alone. It also belongs to Sedgar, my assistant in the battlefield. As well as Vyland and Roshea... And more then anything it belongs to Coyote.. Because he was with us”
Wolf on Wolfguard in Fire Emblem: Shin Monshō no Nazo

The Wolfguard (狼騎士団 Ōkami Kishidan, literally Wolf Knights) is an order of Aurelian knights very loyal to Emperor Hardin of Akaneia. It was established by Wolf following the war against Doluna. Its main members, aside from Wolf, are Sedgar (second-in-command), Roshea and Vyland.

The four originally lived as slaves in the plains of Aurelis, north-east of Akaneia, until they were released from slavery by Hardin, who was the Aurelian prince at the time. Since that day, they vowed to give their lives for him. The Wolfguard's loyalty to Hardin is so strong that they do not question his true motives in Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, and proceed to attack Marth on his way to Akaneia Palace. Only Roshea appears to have his doubts, and although they back down when ordered to by the King of Aurelis, only Roshea offers Marth his services, while the other three go on to defy his orders to fight as part of the Akaneian army.

In Fire Emblem: Shin Monshō no Nazo, Roshea is able to convince Vyland to join Marth. Vyland will then convince Sedgar, who in turns convinces Wolf to join Marth's army, saying that Hardin said he wanted them to stop him should he ever go corrupt, as he did. After the final battle, Wolf suffers from depression resulting from Hardin's death, and flings himself into a hopeless battle to end his life. As a result, Sedgar takes over the Wolfguard, in order to continue Hardin's ideals.
